New player having a terrible time

It did. But either way, MG isn’t a hang up if you have a cross realm team to play with. Networking and finding a community is a huge help on the journey.

For a new player, Moonguard is a problem if they want to find a guild that does that on that server

then you have exact experience veteran players have, congrats

We’re all miserable here, pug enjoyers especially. We can’t leave, we’re addicted, but you still can

Ahhhh I missed the part they were looking specifically for a guild doing PvE. There’s a few social guilds out there running content, but I have no idea how serious or active they are.

Blizzard maybe should mark the servers toward the orientation of play on them. So some would be marked RP, some marked Raiding/mythic plus, some PVP, and some mixed so that new players could have an better idea of how easy it will be to find guilds doing a certain type of content.

OP’s on Moon Guard. There are no shortage of guilds doing M+ at a decently high level.

No it isn’t? The guy’s running 7s.

You’re going to have some trouble finding CE raiding but there are plenty of guilds doing M+ and AOTC on Moon Guard. It’s one of the most populated servers in the game and people play the game just as much as they roleplay.

Running pugs is like trying to have an intelligent discussion on the internet: it’s POSSIBLE, but after your first couple interactions, you should be completely familiar about the highs and lows of what to expect from the “average” interaction.

I watch a lot of physics stuff on YouTube, and one of the ones I watched linked a discussion about … something, I forget. The point is, I followed that link and was reading those “physics forums” about that topic.

I had to remind myself it was the same internet.

There were no insults. No one-ups. No gotchas. No dismissals. It was just… post after post, reply after reply, thread after thread of ACTUAL DISCUSSION!!! It felt like I entered an alternate reality. lol

That’s kinda like what running 20+s is like. By that point, everyone knows the mechanics. Everyone is a SOLID player. Everyone knows WHAT’S UP. You join, you run, you’re done.

That 2-15 range is THE WORST. And yep, you’re gonna get a lot of anger and rage and mean tells/whispers, etc.

It’s the internet. Try and ignore it. Keep pushing until you get to “a better group of people.” Because it’s there.

he is running 7s because he is pugging - he doesn’t sound like he would be happy just running 7s.

That’s not my point. There’s plenty of guilds on MG for people who want to do mid-level PVE. It’s only the top end where you’ll have some trouble.

Besides, M+ only needs 5 people and is crossrealm. Things like WME and the Timewarp project give an abundance of resources to connect players outside of guilds.

he doesn’t want to just do mid level content though so he picked the wrong server

this statement is a huge clue to what motivates them. Moonguard is the wrong server.

I have characters on Moonguard and I would never recommend anyone to join that server if they want to do serious PvE content.

He’ll have no trouble finding a guild that does 20s if he actually looks outside the in-game guild finder, which is where he said he was having trouble finding an active guild.

first, learn to ignore the idiots. there are some, but troll them back. they hate that. don’t argue with them; just troll them.

more seriously, though, while healing can be rewarding, it is the last line of defense in a game that deletes toons for not paying attention to mechanics, even in relatively low level content.

the healer is the goalie. for the ball to get into the net, it had to get past the rest of the entire team first. if it ends up with a 3 on 1 and you are the 1, that really isn’t on you. the toxic idiots will still blame you (hence the BS messaging).

healers are in a really weird spot within the structure of the game. tanks have a TON of self heals and are almost self sufficient in much content. and the DPS get deleted if they don’t pay attention. This often leaves the healer to deal with the “mechanics” of a fight. standing under orbs, neutralizing bombs, etc.

but at the same time, good healers are in demand. just look at the pre-made groups and how many need healers.

you are playing the very in demand healer right now. if you are still having fun after thsi ramp up, just keep playing and it will click for you.

No they won’t. WoW doesn’t enforce toxicity rules unless someone is being directly threatening or openly racist. The latter often gets missed too. So unless someone is saying they’ll come to your house and do X, there’s very little chance they’ll face any repercussions.

Here you go OP.

Since your in Moon Guard, avoid Goldshire Lions Pride Inn. This is what we like to call the quarantine area. :biohazard:

Same with me. I’ve had it up to here with the toxicity of M+. Only time I’ll do them is with Daughter and friends. Otherwise, heck no. I also play the game a whole lot less now. The community is so rushy about everything. rush rush rush.

Yeah usually a lot of keys are just fine, but the community has set expectations. Unfortunately the bad behavior doesn’t really go away necessarily it just fluctuates. Most of the time if things aren’t going their way people just leave the key and that’s it you’re probably done.

People usually use that RIO addon to distinguish the better players from the worse off players like me. I’ve never done above 2,000 score yet sadly cause it’s hard to get into pugs that don’t just wipe or barely beat a timer (atm I’m just in a weird limbo I guess, and I came back months after the season started too).

Why is that? I moved to MoonGuard because I “heard” RP people are generally more friendly.

All you need to do is to pay attention to the people on this forum to know that isn’t true.

MG is like any server. There’s friendly folk and persnickety derps. I’ve found most of the population to be helpful and friendly. The expectations for constant PvE or content perfection don’t exist like they do on non-rp servers. Because we mostly tend to agree that telling stories & having fun outweighs some of the other in game priorities people have.
