What’s funny about this is it sounds like how people describe the league of legends community.
I was mostly joking about that but the less competitive people a community has, the more helpful they generally are. However, for the exact same reason Moonguard generally isn’t the best if you are competitive and want to do high end content.
Honestly, I always felt like the admins for that sort of thing - who never knew the real nitty gritty of things first hand - always made my day working with individuals with IDD worse. I loved working with the individuals though.
It can feel like that, yes, especially as a new player. But knowing your work background, you have the fight to get through it. The good runs will eventually outweigh the bad ones (even if right now it’s only the mediocre ones that become the majority lol).
Coming in as heals this “late” can be rough. I’ve been healing on this toon as main for a very, very long time, and I still can get caught up in that if I’ve taken a bit of a break from things. It’s part and parcel to being a healer in this game, though. C’est la vie, eh? lol
Others in this thread have given legit advice, which is good coming from the GD forums. I’ll add my btag here just as others have (I almost only ever heal, though, just fyi). If you ever need some heals for raids or something, lemme know. LadyA#1259
Also - Dwraf Hpally ftw!
Hi! Check the WoW Made Easy community or the Timewarp Academy. They’re both aimed to non-toxic, non-elitist players.
I honestly can’t speak to how competitive guilds get on their content push in MG. I have mah lil banky-bank guild and go seeking more difficult stuff through Discord mythic groups. I haven’t had to look for a guild in years and I’m totally okay with that.
Kinda echoing the sentiment of finding things to do other than Mythic + which I know is a challenge with this game funneling everyone toward that but still. On Moon Guard you can do RP for example. For getting better gear you can land with a group and do raiding (is First Light or Edict still around?)
You may also get flack just for being on Moon Guard. We aren’t always treated great, there is an assumption that because we like RP we are bad at the game… The truth is Moon Guard is like any old PvE realm, it just also has folks who like to play around with the setting in it.
@OP
As other has suggested, a server change would be a first step. Since you and your wife are just starting, maybe consider starting new charters on a new server, unless you want to do paid service transfer. If you do, find a highly populated server like Stormrage.
Next thing to do is find a guild. Look for one that has at least 500-600 “members”. Make sure to check times and schedules to be sure they are favorable to you. A guild that raids while you are sleeping isn’t going to do much for you. FYI: Stormrage is eastern time zone. But there are guilds that run during off hours because they are in different time zones. It’s really important to find a guild that is active when you are on line.
As for toxic players, just ignore them. On the internet, you can choose to be anything you want to be. Unfortunately, a lot of people choose to be stupid and toxic.
Come over to Blood Furnace and hit me up. I would be more than happy to do some stuff with you. Im no expert, but playing with others is a lot of fun
When looking for a guild, I find it helpful to check any that seem intetesting on the wow armory at the main website before applying. You can look at the roster and sort it by item level to get an impression of how many actual current active players it has.
The game desperately needs to purge its guild finder listings. Some listing are years old still sitting there from guilds that are long dead.
and then when he makes one mistake the priests friends attack him for not knowing what hes doing
I can run some M+ with you if you want!
POor thing. Running Keys is the most boring aspect to WoW.
This was a big contributor to me stepping away from the premade scene as well. I play with my wife and she’s had a lot of bad dungeon experiences over the years as a hunter. Mostly our fault up front because a few times her pet would aggro on skips because she didn’t know better, but other times because people always blamed the hunter for any additional pulls, even if it was the boomkin or a glitch. She hasn’t played a hunter with a pet for some time because of this, even though the pet was the allure.
But I encourage you and her to explore the rest of the game. The dungeon and raid scene is neat, but premades can be rough. LFD is a bit more casual and LFR as well, and you can turn the chat off on those and just enjoy your time together in the content.
There’s so much to collect. My wife plays for pets and mounts, I play for that plus xmog and stories. There are so many good stories (not you, Shadowlands) to experience in this game. You can run old raids together for collectibles just you and her, or on your own.
Encourage her to check out the rest of the game. Roll on a server like Moonguard and you’ll find community as well.
There is a community tab in game, same window as guild tab. I’m in a community that focuses M+ Keys, always linking and looking for people to run with. The guild recruitment forum page is also a good place to look. Can make a post there and guild will come seeking you. That’s all I got.
just got to find the right people. sometimes a small guild isn’t a bad thing means a closer community. I’m in one that I’ve been with over the last 6 years. we are super open and helpful when it comes to new players.
Complete toxic wasteland of a player base that game has. I tried it years ago…yeah asking for help was a mistake. WAY, WAY More toxic experience than anything I have seen in WoW.
Granted that was just my experience (politely asking for help and dealing with 10+ toxic responses). I uninstalled that trash and never looked back. Those people deserve each other. ![]()
Community groups > guild. You can be in multiple.
Theres lots of options for you honestly.
If you are wanting to push PvE content then you can looks at the guild recruitment on yhe forums. Find like minded/similar skill levels of people. Depending on the guild sometimes theres an impersonal interview. Asking what goals are and what personalities are like.
You can also look at active communities for example SouzyLive on twitch has an ever growing community with a huge various levels of play. Some people in that community are over 3k rated and love helping and others are maybe 1k and jjst like to play the game. The communities that are built are pretty cool and if you find the right one.
You could also form your own groups and in the description you can like put “i am still learning/gwtting yhe hang of it” whatever you wanna put so the ones fhat apply know before hand.
I feel like thats where the frustration with newerr players come from towards players that have been playing a long time. Newer players don’t communicate beforehand about what they do or don’t know. So therefore we assume and get frustrated with newer players.
It wouldn’t hurt to if you said that before the key started. Then they can ask you what you may be struggling with so then they can even help you. Avoids SO much frustration. A lot of the time I’ll give that player, in this case itd be you, my discord channel and I’ll drag you in it with me and I’ll walk you through the key as we go. Cause that’s the best case scenario if you tell me before the key starts. And i know a lot of other players share this sentiment. I can teach you anything in a dungeon you need to know. But i need to know beforehand. Not when the key gets bricked
As a new player myself, I agree.
Feel free to add me on btag as well.
