New Graphics or why Purist are Crazy

Then why you arguing against it if you — “people” so NOT REALLY CARE about them? Why every time I or anyone talking about an option of new models in classic you “purists” defecate yourself all over the fact that “REEEE-MUHVANILLA-DIDN’T-HAVE-THEM!!1”

Who are you to tell if something worth or doesn’t an effort? Are you a manifestation of all the people who going to play in classic? Why people like you more and more pushing something to other people? How about a freedom of choice and speech? I ask a freedom of choice which clearly doesn’t do anything bad for other people, but you and people like you all over AGAINST freedom of choice. You just defy choice for others even though you personally don’t gain/lose anything from this choice. I’m freaking repeating myself over and over and over again. Freaking fecals. This becomes very tiring.

What is new? Why aren’t you research this question for yourself? But just for the starting points:
GUI, rendering distance, quality of textures of a grass/terrain, details of an environment, new water, shadows, light rendering, occlusion. These things are visually pleasing for someone and yet they give THE POWER OF CHOICE to turn them off to make it vanilla-look for those we wants exact visual details as in 2004.
Why giving new models is different? ESPECIALLY when its only YOU who will see them when you toggle them ON. No one else.

People still thinking this features:

  • Adding new/old models option ON/OFF
  • Adding all the races
  • Adding modern/old graphics option ON/OFF

Will affect your game-experiencie on a negative way? if is a “YES” run to get a “philosophy book” cuz your mind is small and closed…

All this features will only boost on a positive way your EXP, if i love play blood elfs & Draenei is my problem and you should respect that lol

I AM upset. But not cause I didn’t have impacts on the game. I’m not some kind of loser in real life to be that pity.
I exactly KNOW what I want from this game. And I want to be sure that I’ll get it. The same way as you THINK that you want this option to not exist, but you can’t make valid argument against it even in your head. Cause since purists are against it then you should be against it as well. You guys are pathetic cause you don’t critically think for yourselves. You are here just to be PART of something big, cause in real life you could be nothing and your opinion doesn’t matter for your surrounding. but since here you have a group that you can relate to, you just take every BAD stuff from it, just so you could be “right” all together, against those minorities who want something you don’t get, understand or care.

The difference between ME and YOU is that I HAVE valid arguments and you don’t.

I will gladly admit that I’m wrong, I’m not an egoistic douche, to be “reee no you” all over here, but I yet to see any valid point against toggled option except that
they can’t do this cause of technical difficulties and too much time consumption (which only they can confirm or refute)

I agree on first and third points, but giving all races that aren’t merged nice into the universe yet is breaking world narative. I don’t see how Blood elves and Draenei or any other new race (despite that I would love to play upright Orcs or Zandalari in Classic) fit vanilla.

I’m an experienced programmer with a background in game design, emulation, and core development. So I know EXACTLY how hard or not it is actually. Assumptions aren’t facts bro. It’s more work than you think, and one thing can break 8 other things in a client.

Beyond that, it’s not their job to cater to the small minority who want them to change the scope of their development path. It’s their job to create a faithful rendition of World of Warcraft: Classic. It says so in their job description. That is why they used the older models.

No, nobody has to respect your desire to play a blood elf if it violates the spirit of the game. Blood elves were not in Classic.

Yes, new models do have an affect on even those who don’t use them. They increase the size of the client, waste valuable space on m.2 drives, and the toggle is a function that can easily end up causing issues with the client. Adding unneeded features is just bad development practices. You always take the path of least resistance.

I actually like the old graphics, especially the old character models better than the new ones.

After fiddling with all the graphics options, so far the biggest impacts on the aesthetic of classic wow are the new shadows, and the new water.

I’m surprised but I actually found the max ground clutter option really enjoyable. I thought I’d stick to purely classic settings.

There was actually a way to increase the ground clutter in the old client, but it was more of a pain that involved changing settings in files or using an administrative console. Back in Vanilla, I had the foliage cranked waaaayyyy up!

In screenshots of the new client, I find that some areas look better than others with those settings.

I dug up an old video on youtube about them testing it in azshara, lemme see if I can find it again.

I think there’s a series like “Vanilla wow beyond ultra”

I found this which is 11 years old, CBF digging too far back

I start with your second point. The increase the size of the client. We download games of 50gb-75gb already. On ps5/xboxtwo you will download games over 100GB because the 4k textures. I dont think adding all the races&new models will add 50gb more to the client lol.

Now we here go with the second point “That violates” the spirit of the classic-wow playing blood-elf. Do you know Draenei&blood elfs came on the expansion burning crusade the next expansion right after of Classic-WoW

Burning Crusade was released 17 january 2007 just 3 years after vanilla-wow and the game was stilling feel classic on this expansion.

No… no it wasn’t. It was drastically different. I was there. It’s like someone trying to tell me that the water in Venice, Italy doesn’t smell, I’ve been there and I know it does…

And I’m art director who is talking, working with devs closely and actually working on game project right now. And even though I don’t code myself I can understand what it costs to get one ALREADY WORKING feature integrated to another working feature.
Also.
1 fix leads to 8 bugs, is irrelevant, cause there are bug they are constant, you can’t have game without those and QA and client devs exist specially to be there fight against them.

I don’t want them to CHANGE a scope, I want them to answer the questions, is there will be a probability to have toggle option or not and why if not.

But one answer I get was “muh vuneelah”. You and other guy (or it was only you, I cease tracking) above pointed that it could be imposible/hard cause it IS time consuming (which I understand and know how it can be) btu I need official answer on that, not your:

You are not some kind of Lorax. You don’t speak for the whole community. Some part of this community has their own thoughts on this and they are different.

I freaking love this. Aren’t you who were talking about how their PC and peripherals ALWAYS were superb and completely not garbage in comparison to old crap some other people had and couldn’t use maximal graphics on their machines? And now when it is CONVENIENT your space is now VALUABLE. For what? For p**n? For thousand of game in steam which you will never play? Freaking quit it. You just making up arguments cause you will like you can make a “valid” point in it.

Okay. Let’s get physical.

Remember the earlier days of wow, where you would turn the graphics all the way down because the family computer could barely handle the game.

All you cared about was being able to play, not how it looked. I feel this principal could be applied to this post.

It couldn’t for some of us. I have very capable PC. ANd I want to make sure I have best experience visually and logically. Logically it’s balance, but visually it’s something that people are so much against, even though this nothing have to do with them AT ALL.

Firstly this is not vanilla. it clearly has Burning crusade areas.
Secondly I love the last part of this video where creator asking Blizzards to make those console commands as TOGGLED FREAKING OPTIONS.
Cause you know… choices.

I’ve seen no TBC areas. You have evidence of a TBC area?

The point is that the majority is against changing or toggling graphics. That’s means it’s like 5 voices against hundreds. Good luck with that.

Yes, I do have an up to date system. It doesn’t mean I like wasting space. I have savings to, I don’t blow money just because it’s there…
