I’m baggin’ for someone explain my why, in Elune’s name if vanilla wow have a toggle button that change the models/graphics to the new one on the Vanilla server would not be Classic.
That’s make ZERO sense, the old graphics aren’t bad, but they are dated, and I would be cool if the new one was an option.
The argument “Then wouldn’t be Vanilla bro” is so stupid, Vanilla is gone, and can never me emulated again. What else do you want? Blizzard to restrict the bandwidth so everyone have a trash internet? Because that’s what was like in vanilla! Do you want a feature that makes tanks have do face the ground in a boss battle so they can have playable FPS? Because that’s affect gameplay and was a thing in vanilla. Get rid of all those databases and leave only Thottbot?
The new graphics can lure a lot of new players to play the game, that might be turn away about the fact that the game looks so old.
You guys are crazy, and will play vanilla with a warrior, get lvl 30, then quit and go back to retail and CRY about godsknowwhat in the forum.
And downvote this post, but I will be in stv ganking you.
The “purist” argument aside, there’s a technical issue at hand here when it comes to the character models.
The environmental graphics could easily be toggled, and before the Blizzcon demo, there was some streamer who apparently had screenshots of a putative interface options screen that will let players do that. (The option wasn’t in the demo though).
The problem is in the character models. The new models have had their animations completely redone. This distorts the old models in a really bad way. So basically, with the models it will need to be either old or new. Even with a toggle put in, one side is going to be very unhappy.
That’s not part of “emulating vanilla” on their end. That’s the part that’s up to you, should you want to take it that far. Personally, I’d consider that to be pretty nerdy of you, but whatever packs your bowl, man.
No. I didn’t use a track ball mouse to play WoW, actually, I had an optical one. This is also a strange question, because obviously Blizzard is responsible for software, not the hardware you’re running it on. If you want to dig up an old monitor, be my guest. Nobody’s stopping you.
the thing is, you and 90% of people that will reply this post did not play vanilla. Bad internet and terrible FPS CHANGE the gameplay BIG TIME. because that was a thing and you need to get around that back then. The amount of sites with tutorials and the fact that vanilla has been theorycraft like crazy is another factor. The true vibe is gone, it’s like trying to go to a woodstock today, will never be the same. And thats ok, Im not a purist, i just want pretty graphics that would not harm a fly, and the argument that this would RUIN classic is so dumb…
bruh what? I played vanilla on Day 1 and have been playing WoW ever since. I’m just gonna go ahead and disregard you from here on out. You’re not having a good-faith discussion.
the fact that you are posting nonsensical things on a Hunter avatar makes thing so much better. The point is, new graphics are good and the option to toggle it would not harm the original experience in the slightest. And as a metter of fact the original true felling is gonne and can not be recreated because the world as diferent back then, internet and your pc metters in the way you play the game, in a metter of fact i could not play as a tank no matter how much as I wanted because I live in Brazil and internet was especial terrible for me…
Okay so I’m still confused…what are you arguing about? The original graphics are fine, and do not need to be altered. Old models, animations, and textures are perfect as-is for the Classic experience.
We seriously will probably have the old models though, because of the animations. There are a ton of old abilities in Classic that are no longer in the game and likely have no corresponding animation for the new models. That’s a guess on my part, based on a limited understanding.
As if this matters…I could swap to my Paladin, Warlock, or Rogue, the ones who’ve been around since Vanilla, but it’d be pointless I think. You’re just rocking the boat.
