Anonymous posting would be OPTIONAL. For those who like or would like to feel more safe while posting.

I’ll just put this here for you Nelfas, and the same goes for everyone else.
Everyone wants to feel safe while using the forums, and yes, Blizzard is opened to all suggestions. Problems is, while some may see where you’re coming from, others will look at the facts, and there will be some who will agree with the idea who wants to abuse it.
We, as the users, do have the tools to help deal with certain situations. If you think someone is stalking you, report it to Blizzard, and they’ll look into it and take action necessary to help you. If you think a user is harassing you, report them and place them on ignore.
But the idea of anonymous posting, this is something we see as a problem on other forum message boards that have anonymous posting, as well as other sites that allows this sort of thing, it actually causes more unrest.

I mean what’s silly is at this point, they already know the jig is up, and they’re just trolling for the sake of it. Not that this entire thread wasn’t a weak attempt at bait, but when you’ve got people insta-liking their own posts with alts…whatever it started as, it’s not that anymore.

Sooo if someone was anon could a person, in theory, talk like 2 different people or how would that work exactly?
How would ignores work if i dont want to talk to said anon person?

everything would work as now, just you would have option to hide your characters name as “anonymous”
would like to mention that overwatch2 implementing tomorrow similar like this suggestion.
People will be able to hide their real names under fake blizzard names to stop in-game harassment.

there’s option in settings that nobody can view your activity and armory, with anonymous users armory checking will not be possible.

the issue is that you can’t really compare other message boards to the wow forums because other message boards don’t require a paid subscription like the wow forums do.
you can’t post here unless you pay the monthly sub to play a game, so because of that, anonymous posting would be perfectly fine here.

You do know ive already pulled your armory up via Google… yes?
I did it to see (since yours is hidden) and it came right up.
So what you want is if someone swaps 10 toons they can post anon on all 10 toons?
So what’s keeping someone from making a anon thread and talking to themselves?
Only way anon would even remotely work is if the forum was a btag system and even then it would be a mess.

You can always view it through the website. Always. That is only for the API and if you do that you won’t get into any groups that utilize any kind of tracking tool as their metric.

Just because other forum sites have a different requirements in ways to use the forums doesn’t mean it isn’t the same thing.
