New Colossus Smash and Warbreaker animations on PTR are bad

My god… can y’all stop bickering over who has better parses, numbers, content, etc?

The new animations suck. No one cares about your bigger numbers.

Seems Blizz being tone deaf again…those animations look horrible. I’ve used both abilities on a warrior before and the way they were prior looks better than the stuff in those videos

The actual parse in mplus is the damage for key level percentage.

It’s a 6 because it’s compared against all keys done by prot warriors and it was a 2.

I could pull the whole dungeon and one shot it. It would still be a grey parse because it’s a 2. That parse number for mplus is irrelevant.

The only number that matters for parsing in mplus is “key damage percentage for level.

Learn how parsing works so you don’t look so clueless.

Um, ive parsed 100s on low keys like 2s and 4s so either you just suck or dont know what you are talking about or both.

Early season maybe. This late into the season that’s not how it works.

My man the only clueless one here is you thinking an mplus parse means anything.

Again the only number in a parse that matters % damage for key level.

The main number is only based on time. You can sit at the entrance while 4 mythic geared players carry you through a ten and still parse well.

Many people are saying, there are very fine parses on both sides. While I don’t personally know the parses, I’ve been told they’re beautiful, the best there’s ever been. So many different colors its like a box of delicious crayons. One parse, it came up in conversation, was so big it made that knife thing out in the desert look like a swiss army knife. And we all know, the swiss army, they’re so inventive. They’re world renowned for their inventiveness. I heard there’s even a new knife that has all the parse colors. Genius.

They should go look at Upheaval from FFXIV.

Right around 3:10 where he slams his axe into the ground and huge rock spikes break out of the ground. Also the move right after it too where he does a forward flip and slams his axe into the ground is cool too. And then he does another ground pound slam just after that too!

That’s how you show massive power with just a weapon.

EDIT: Also the quick screen shake effects help sell the impacts when you hit something in that game (which you can see easily in the Reaper’s section). It’s a subtle effect, which would need an OFF toggle as I imagine some people get sick from the motion, but for those who enjoy it, it adds a lot of immersion to the game and helps you “feel” the impacts of your major attacks.

Also, for magic attacks, they do a split second screen blurring effect, again, subtle but when you drop a humongous nuke of a spell at the end of your rotation and the screen does that quick blur thing with a deep thunderous boom sound, it helps sell the impact of said spell.

You said that the animation change is for PVP. I was confused by that statement since there wasn’t anything in the PTR patch notes in the PVP section for warriors or Blizzard pointing out such reasoning.

How it came across to me is that you were saying that the animation change applies to PVP only which is not what is going to happen.

Instead of clarifying your point when you yourself stated that it was so obvious to you from the get go you decided to bite back.

What could have happened:

  • Me: This is inaccurate, please double-check your stuff
  • You: There might have been a confusion, I actually meant [this]
  • Me: Ah, right! Yeah, that makes sense.

Instead you decided to be an annoyance and started agro’ing onto anyone even slightly not in agreement with you.

Then came in standing on a self-made pedestal of accomplishments no one cares about, “look at my warrior” and using all that to invalidate anything and anyone who speaking out against you.

Oh yeah! FF14 warriors actually feel like warriors. The entire burst rotation feels like you are about to start a new Cataclysm with your raw strength and rage alone.

Upheaval, Primal Wrath (slam the axe vertically down in the ground), Primal Rend (jump and spinning slam), Primal Ruination (huge weapon slam with a volcano-like eruption in the end) - all those are incredibly satisfying to press.

How else was I supposed to read what you originally said.

This was my line of thinking as well. Not to mention, the weapons drop facing away from the target. They don’t even drop hitting the target, it looks like they intentionally whiff.

Whole thing was a bad upgrade I think. Needs more attention. Weapons need to actually hit the target, jump animation needs to be maintained and needs glyph support for ‘different’ weapon colors / animations and weapon types. If we’re gonna go through with this, we should go through with it big. If I want all flaming axes to be my colossal smash, I should be able to glyph the damn thing.

If they make this a glyph option then yeah sure, no problems at all.

But they are changing the “core” animations on the abilities themselves.
