Stop trying to force Saurfang down our throats.
Donât get me wrong, Iâm fully with you that the Night Elves SHOULD have been getting a whole lot more focus than they are.
Hell, Teldrassil should have been far more of a pivitol event to turn the Horde factions against Sylvanas (especially the BEs, with just how many parallels there was between the BoT, and the FoQT). But, because these reactions from the other Horde leaders would have been immediate (and because Sylvanas personal storyline has completely consumed the Horde Faction storyline atm) ⊠these leaders that SHOULD have taken action, were forced to sit on their hands until she did MORE evil things.
So ⊠instead THEIR characters get damaged to ensure that Sylvie gets to do what the writers want her to do (and presumably set-up the next expansion). Theyâve started at an endpoint and worked their way back; meaning that every other character (both Alliance AND Horde) are pieces on a gameboard for Sylvieâs game (on a functional writing level). Unfortunately, despite him getting cinematics, this also goes for Saurfang ⊠and unfortunately (despite her need of focus) it also goes for Tyrande.
Arguing about which side is worse is besides the point, and we should be united here.
I specifically predicted this before BfA started. I wrote a thread where, in the first post, I argued that Alliance fans who hated the robot cat debacle should be very wary about what was happening with BfA, because the same thing would happen again.
Horde fans are getting story that most donât really want. Again. Blizzard knows that trying to convince half the player base to turn on their own faction - again - is a tough sell. So they are trying to sell it. So the major story assets go into telling the story of why Horde players should turn on their Warchief. Again. Getting Horde players to want to attack the Horde is not easy.
Conversely, they donât need to sell Alliance players on attacking the Horde. Teldrassil got that pretty much squared away, like Theramore before it. So Blizzardâs writers are willing to let the Alliance story coast along while they focus on the heavy lifting with the Horde.
This was inevitable with another Horde civil war storyline. We called it long before the expansion officially launched.
So arguing about who has it worse misses the point. Itâs just two different flavours of bad. The Alliance gets neglected, which is bad, and the Horde gets lipstick on a pig. Also bad. Itâs a feedback loop - the more Blizzard needs to try to sell the story to the Horde, the more they neglect it for the Alliance.
Which is why we should be united against this entire plot direction.
Edit: hereâs the original thread. From over a year ago:
Thrall looks nice. Pretty much the only thing I consider good about the leaks. Why do we need another Saurfang cinematic again?
because they arent done shoving him down our throats
Blizzard has finally managed to do the impossible displease everyone.
This post was beautiful.
Please write more
Donât care how much Suarfang and Thrall, cry at this point. Suarfang helped start this war and then bailed on the Horde and its soldiers. He lost the right to decide what direction this Horde is going in when he told the PC to bugger off and leave him in Alliance prison.
But WHY are you a dwarf?
Hey arlifrex! You canât go around asking people WHY they are dwarfs, thats rude
I wonder if itâs clicked with them yet that they more they try and force Saurfang as the savoir of all zug, the more people dig in their heels for hating him / supporting Sylvanas.
The funny thing about this is that Lost Honor was originally supposed to be an ingame cutscene. Not even a cinematic, just one of those scripted events that has voice overs but ingame models with generic mouth movements. Then someone, I canât remember who, decided that it deserved to be on the level of a full CGI cinematic, so they did it as one.
Another Sadfang failure cinematic focused into fooling average players with no remarkable interest in the lore so they end up cheering for the garbage narrative? EwwwwâŠ
The focus Blizz writers are putting into âsad charactersâ reached critical ridiculous ratio⊠Frankly this seems like the non subtle graduate project for someone on a psychology degree or something (sad Jaina, Sadfang, sad Thrall⊠So much attention into portaying depressed characters IS actually depressing).
saurfang has a large fan base outside of the poopy story forums, i hate to tell you. there was that whole shoulders off for saurfang thing which was relatively big as far as the wow player base goes.
the norms are taking over, theyâre rebelling, and i am leading them.
Okay but, if he already has fans, they already support him and are on board. This cinimatic isnt going to make any more fans, just those who already are against him dig in their heels.
Dude, character popularity is quite irrelevant in regards to the actual complete playerbase. Most people probably donât even know who Sadfang is (they can recite to you which class combo the pros posted in /insert forums and/or blog here and how it is crucial to copy-paste this configuration to successfully achieve that juicy mythic+ key, but lore facts? /ROFL).
People only care for the purples and cosmetics (basically mounts, titles and toys), so as far as Iâm concerned every supposedly âpopularâ character in this game is a redundant nobody in the grand scheme of things.
Maybe, but if you noticed they also are bringing thrall into this.
putting thrall with him.
I bet 40 bucks with you that half those guys never laid their hands on a fcking lore book.
That HD cgi IS a colossal waste of resources if you ask me⊠Should had been better to use the time wasted in making them in actual constructive stuff like fixing the models, etc.
Yeah I know, but Thrall and Saurfang represent the same thing, and Thrall lost a massive chunk of his fanbase that arnt die hard zug after Cata, so those who like Saurfang like him with or without Thrall because they represent the same thing.
All this cinimatic is, to me personally, is âna na na na na, you were wrong for ever caring about anything horde side that isnt orcsâ
