Thanks dude, I didn’t have the energy to do it.
Even if Legion was 100% Alliance the thing is BFA is about the faction war, as bad as it felt bad to play Horde in Legion being the sidekicks of the Horde story just after they commited genocide against us isn’t the same.
So pretty much, paint over Alliance characters (with absurdly strong connections to the Alliance) with a shallow coat of “neutrality” and have abysmal representation of ANY Horde characters; and its even?
Hell, you want to see my favorite example of this? Liadrin is on Argus. She’s the ONLY Horde character to make it on to the Vindecaar … and I don’t think she has a single line of dialogue in the entire Argus campaign. She’s there, but I’m taking orders from the Horde hating Vareesa instead.
Good ol’ representation of the Horde. Our ONLY real presence in the entire expansion (outside of Surumar) is being a focal point of animosity for Genn Greymane (and having our new Warchief go do her own errands, right after promising to avenge Vol’jin).
Hey, as a former Alliance player, I ain’t happy with it either.
But to say Khadgar and Illidan have “absurdly strong connections” is so wrong. Khadgar in WoW has been neutral from inception. Heck, even in the movie canon, he is sympathetic to Garona and her kind.
And as I am repeating myself, it really wasn’t Horde vs Alliance; it was us vs. the Legion. Your issue is that more Horde characters were not used. I agree with you. But that doesn’t make it an “Alliance” expansion.
On my druid, Hamuul’s presence felt noted, and appropriate. On my DH, I truly felt Illidari, not sin’dorei. I cannot speak for the other class halls.
If I didn’t know any better, I would think that was the sequel to the Warcraft movie…
you want to know why is different?
Because legion wasn’t about the factions. it was about the legion and the class orders.
what expansion is this?
The “faction pride xpac” so one would expect that your faction is equally a protagonist.
and come on, khadgar our legendary hero was lost into the neutrality limbo. and so did dala.
i mean he does fit for the job, but it makes you wonder why they did all that storyline about purging dala and making it alliance in mop if it will return to neutrality anyway.
OK, let me take your point at face value then? How then is BfA making the Alliance secondary characters to the Horde story; any different than the Horde feeling like background characters in Legion? Because that is the truth, even if you want to claim that the Horde had a presence … there wasn’t much of one. Little to no real representation throughout that entire expansion; with almost none of our primary characters having any relevance (while Horde players got to awkwardly walk around working for character like: Velen; Turalyon; Alleria; Vareesa; Tyrande; and Malfurion for much of it).
Just because Blizz has decided to put some (MUCH NEEDED) emphasis on this Saurfang storyline in the cinematics (where, lets be honest, his chance of getting doomhammered increases with each one…); does not mean the Alliance is playing secondary characters to the Horde. The reason it FEELS like that is because Blizz neglected to put in any ground work to fix the ABSURD power imbalance between the Horde and Alliance; before forcing the Horde faction to play the antagonists in a war they’re told they could NEVER win (unless the Faction operating in an entirely different genre was handicapped).
Bluntly, I don’t care if Alliance players are frustrated with OUR Leaders getting some attention. At the very least that isn’t something we got during Legion…
They are lazy. They could have made an area, an island off the coast of Quel’Thalas, with primarily Forsaken and Sin’dorei NPCs (add Nightborne in BFA) with a new faction lead by the Sunreavers as the Horde’s answer to Dal. But unless there is a big pay off, Blizzard doesn’t invest in such things anymore.
Real shame because all it is is chipping away, and p!ssing on the creators that came before them and lovingly crafted this world.
We really didnt need another cgi cinematic of sadfang, the reasom why we are getting one is some horde still dont like future warchief saurfang being shoved down their throats
saurfang won’t be war chief
So tit for tat huh? Hey Alliance players, get your lists ready for every time Horde characters and themes have monopolized the story:
Blood Elf story completely overtook TBC by the end
Cataclysm - let’s renamed this to The Thrall Show already
MoP was all Horde Horde Horde
WoD was again about a HORDE hero -Grommash Hellscream.(See, I can do this too) Alliance got some two-bit Mary Sue who had no legacy aura
BFA has been stifling with its focus on Sylvanas, Saurfang, and Zappyboi, etc.
I won’t see eye to eye with you on this since you are letting your biases totally cloud the facts of the matter.
Yeah … I’m feelings so much “Faction Pride” on my end. Got to become a villain, while my ENTIRE factions story got co-opted for Sylvanas’ personal arc (and we’re all just waiting for her boot to drop on our faction, when she betrays the ever living crap out of all of us for her “True Objectives”). The Horde also gets to revel in the reality that we’re liable to lose (Probably) two more characters; in our ever shrinking, underdeveloped, underpowered, and underused roster of Champions.
What do the Alliance get to deal with? Well, primarily they’re forced to act Lawful Stupid because they’re the only faction to really benefit from the constantly escalating additions of Demi-God tier characters (that take entire armies to even stall out, and NEVER get killed off). At least YOUR not being forced to be genocidal villains, forced to play the aggressors in a war you are constantly told you have absolutely no chance of ever winning.
Because if he flips his sh**t he’s gonna Hitkill the whole stormwind with his Legendary Cleave thats why
We are not saying Horde players don’t need cinematics, I agree that we need to know more about Saurfang’s journey. However, consider that this cinematic didn’t need to be CGI and that maybe the Alliance could have gotten less in game cinematics and at least one CGI.
If you expect Saurfang to be our next warchief … I’m not sure what to tell you. I’m not even convinced that the guy is going to survive this expansion with just how many absurd Doomhammer; Grom; and Brox parallels he’s sporting right now…
this cinematic was destined to be cgi since they decided to make old soldier, basically. the entirety of saurfangs journey will be told or filled in with these cinematics by the end of bfa.
At this point I don’t know what is going to happen.
Saurfang taking the Warchief mantle?
Or Baine, Thrall, or even a resurrected Vol’jin? Or Slyvanas stays as Warchief?!
The “when” they decided it doesn’t change a thing. They could have totally say “Oh we definitly need Old Soldier and Meeting Thrall to be CGI but maybe Lost Honor is a bit unecessary let’s make that in game and focus on an Alliance one.”
Saurfang’s journey need to be told, they didin’t have to chose to make it only CGI and make CGI only for it.
Let’s be clear Lost Honor for example doesn’t achieve anything for the Alliance nor the Horde.
Old Soldier and Meeting Thrall seem more important so I don’t see a problem with them per say.
At least YOUR not being forced to be genocidal villains, forced to play the aggressors in a war you are constantly told you have absolutely no chance of ever winning.
While i have some counterarguments to that, that isn’t the point.
my only real problem here, is not that saurfang gets cgi cinematic, FINE, whatever.
is that blizzard isn’t focusing on the actual victims of the storyline that they created in this case, the nelfs.
No, they use that to develop how the “honor horde” or whatever crap is
somehow innocent. AND NOTHING ABOUT THE NELFS
And That is my problem here.
So now, the alliance AGAIN has to help the horde find themselves AGAIN.
while their story gets all the focus AGAIN in the expansion about “faction pride” AGAIN.
Because if he flips his sh**t he’s gonna Hitkill the whole stormwind with his Legendary Cleave thats why

I think Thrall will be Warchief again. Or Baine. Or it will be dismantled. I doubt it will be Saurfang, who I am assuming will receive his “honorable death” by the end of the expansion.
they didin’t have to chose to make it only CGI and make CGI only for it.
No they didn’t need to, they didn’t need to do any of the things they are doing. I just think its been telegraphed to us though that this is what they have decided to do. Saurfang is gonna be the focus of this mini series of cinematics.
