Stat Weights have several shortcomings. Direct sims (Top Gear, Droptimizer, Gear Compare) are better. [Read More](https://support.raidbots.com/article/66-beware-of-stat-weights)
If something is outdated and has shortcomings, I feel like its also inaccurate?

okay, so theyâre inaccurate for purposes of making gearing choices. that doesnât mean theyâre not accurate in terms of the relative value of various stats given your current gear, which i think is what started this whole argument lol
âRaidbots strongly advises against using stat weights - they are an outdated tool and often result in sub-optimal results.â
Thatâs what I do. They made it easy, just press Add Item, choose the crafted item and ilvl, then just click recraft for each secondary.
a handsaw is outdated and has shortcomings vs a circular saw, and i wouldnât want to build a whole house with one, but itâs still a perfectly good tool
anyway, not trying to argue about anything here. i just donât think the stat weight thing is as bad as advertised when youâre using it solely as âX stat is more valuable than Y to me right nowâ.
right. like any tool, if you use it wrong, you can end up with a bad outcome. using it to make gearing decisions is using it wrong
I use droptimizer
I dont do every combo, because I generally know what stats I want.

Yeah you should be using droptimizer, stat weights will give you wrong information.
I feel like thats different.
The entire point of stat weights is to find out what gear you should target. I dont know what other reason you would use those numbers.
And it says that it gives inaccurate results for the entire point of its existence.
Cause likeâŚif you had a reason to get sub optimal stat weights that had nothing to do with gearingâŚI just dont know what that reason would be.
Jesus Christ, all this hand wringing over a few measly DPS points. Simming, parsing, addons, data analysis, for crying out loud itâs only a game! Just relax and play, maybe touch the occasional bit of grass too.

Let people enjoy things they like.
Raidbots strongly advises against using stat weights - they are an outdated tool and often result in sub-optimal results. Using direct sims of actual gear (like Top Gear and Droptimizer) is a vastly better approach.
THE CREATORS OF THE TOOL SAY TO NOT USE IT.
Thereâs not a substance on Earth as dense as some people on the GD forums I swear.

right I know how to do that, but how do you know when youâve hit a DR for stat?
How do you know when you are close to a DR and a different stat is worth more?
anyway, I understand a stats sim isnât holy scripture, just a tool.
To sum it up, the sims will say so.
The sims take into consideration stat DRs.

yep, Iâm close enough to âdoing it rightâ it wonât matter.
also, my sister made us homemade peanut butter Rice Krispie treats, so I have a lot less problems in the world rn

One issue with stat sims is this:
- sim stats and see haste is highest
- craft haste ring
- sim stats and see haste is third and now mastery is highest
- craft mastery ring
- sim stats and see crit is now highest.
Etc, etc.
Itâs simulating where you are before you put on the gear but the new gear can change your stat weights.
Oh well then upequip bolts cause itâs junk
I have read charged bolts didnt get the nerf they said. They forgot to apply the changes. So charged bolts still sims better.
Well if thatâs the case sims has what the belt should be doing as a value bc it wasnât simming higher than 684 belts for me earlier either, in which the only way to tell is to test them out
I didnât know that, but bm still has it as bis and theyâre the only spec I know that legitimately has mainstat as dead last, so eventually belt should be bis for everyone
the belt is designed for delvers, not people who play mythic plus exclusively, so ofc its not gonna be a gain on someone like you.
