Femininity is still viewed as weakness. Arbiter was literally incapacitated all of this expansion and was a husk/shell for a male character. (Jailer) Women in this franchise suffered for many years that they could only be empowered while demonstrating masculine traits…
Blizzard has demonstrated repeatedly, including recently that women aren’t capable of expressing themselves however they want. (bowl of fruit and lack of variety in female characters…)
Blizzard seems incapable of making a safe environment for women to express themselves freely in a fantasy videogame… without judgement, ostracizing, abuse and bullying. (Only certain molds are allowed) Why should I be surprised they can’t produce a safe environment for women in the real world too?
One gender is freely able to express themselves how they want in a fantasy videogame. (Which should pretty much be a given as far as I cam concerned. To let people express themselves how they want in a videogame. Rather it attire, shapes and relationships etc.) While I see the other being chased away, silenced, shamed or forced into masculine traits. All the news on the media is a reflection of this abuse.
With all the controversy and lawsuits going on…can we like just not have masculine traits tied in with the Arbiter please? They already went that route at the beginning of the expansion… just leave the Arbiter alone. It was a useless husk and so it should remain. Focus on more characters that I find interesting and would have greater impact for the story. (Bolvar, Sylvanas and mediator/middle man Uther. Since those two main characters are incapable of not having one…for whatever reasons… )
Like him or not, Pelagos has been shown to be an extremely kind, compassionate character who questioned whether or not any soul truly deserved to be condemned to the Maw after seeing it. I’d MUCH rather him be the one deciding what afterlife people go to than someone like, say, Sylvanas who deliberately murdered thousands of innocent people knowing they’d go straight to hell to be tortured, enslaved, or destroyed permanently.
Plus Kleia’s “Pelagos, what do you mean?
What! No!
But your soul! You do not have to do this.
I do not want to let you go.”
suggests he might be giving up his individual identity/awareness as a sacrifice to become the new Arbiter.
You say that but if you hate Sylvanas, wouldn’t that get her out of the story and you’d never have to deal with her again? With this, she gets to continue having a story with us YAY! =D
I prefer pre-burning Sylvanas. Before they made her ‘destroy hope’ crazy. They should of just left her alone in the Undercity.
Besides…if Sylvanas DOES sacrifice herself to stop the Jailer, Sylvanas fans should probably rejoice because I highly doubt Arbiter Pelagos would send her to the Maw.
Pegalos stated that in his previous life (When he was alive) he was a woman, but felt like a man on the inside.
what historical character in wow was like that? i don’t think Pegalos was from Azeroth, unless he was someone that blizzard now decided to change their history.
