No, I’m being reasonable. Ppl crying asking for nerfs for the least played class in SOD with only one viable spec for PVE and PVP are the unreasonable ones.
Penance even in PVE is too strong. I’m leveling a priest on another account and for 48 mana I can basically heal my pet for 25% of its life every 6 seconds. Spamming rank 2 lesser heal doesn’t even get this type of quality. The amount it heals compared to the cost needs to be adjusted.
There is nothing reasonable about priests having the ability to heal for more than other healers BIG slow cast time heals for less mana than other classes small fast heals while also having a guaranteed 1/3 output even if you are immediately interrupted
I for one am glad that the light won phase 1 of sod.
Honestly, while priests do have a strong set of runes and abilities the real problem is that healer’s like paly have literally nothing. I did BFD on my paly and I felt like a liability more than anything. It was probably do-able with cleaning mechanics up but it just felt bad and wasnt fun.
They should have added better healer runes for paladins for the lower bracket. That one cone healing would have been neat for aoe healing. Beacon of light’s mana costs being lower would have been nice too so we can reliably move it around combat, even if the healing amt drops to like 75% Id take it - 200 mana cost makes it impossible to manipulate during combat without OOM-ing and it shares the node with crusader strike so it removes the mana regen for a buncha overhealing. On my paly I would struggle to drop Healing light’s before the other healer would heal it up, watch half of my beacon go to overhealing, and spam the flash heals that barely tickle anyone, all while a mage is doing more aoe healing than me by doing damage. ( he wasnt even a full time healer mage, I think he just forgot to swap runes ). I was at least hoping I could Beacon the tanks and solo tank heal but that wasnt even possible without going OOM. Meanwhile my priest throws a mending out and it does the work for me, maybe Ill penance if they pulled a few extra adds, all while staying above 90% mana. Plus I have a healer CD that gives me a free cast with extra crit chance, and better mana regen xD
And here I was hoping the runes would have added something to paladin healers to make them less boring/basic. S2 might be a bit better with holy shock + all of illumination, possibly also depending on what runes they add, but with how it came out of the box compared to other healers it wasnt going to happen. Part of me was hoping to be a buffer with kings but it drops off for whatever reason randomly ( I think because of the hunter pet buff to stats? ) Bringing kings isnt that impactful anymore when a hunter is there, it’s actually more annoying to keep managing it, plus the 2 2 minute buffs, and the 1 minute buffs. There needs to be SOME QoL with these timers. Kings should be 11% stats or 15% stats now so it doesnt drop every time I pass by a hunter.
Having much more fun on my priest.
They stacked healer priests hard for S1 with mending/prom/CoH/Barrier/serendipity/etc when they could have added some more things for shadow priests to have fun with. ( or the holy damage dealer fantasy could be fleshed out ). A rune that lowers the cost of Holy Nova would have been neat for aoe damage for example.
I am hoping things balance out for s3 or s4 for paly, they should…either way, for me Ive already gone and rerolled into a class I know can get the job done going forward regardless of what runes come or dont come. One that can do it in multiple ways with multiple talent builds too.
Highly doubt I will continue with my paladin after lvl 40 if it’s not much better because I know it’ll just burn me out. Part of me was hoping divine storm would put out better healing too for holy but, meh.
They should fix the Prayer of Mending jumping with rank 1 renew. That seems a bit OP/broken imo. Possibly unintended. Raise the cost of Penance somewhat too. It could literally be nerfed a good 20% ( healing wise, keep the dmg the same ) and it would still be a great healing spell.
Why because you said so? There’s a reason it has a cooldown. That’s why it gets to do those other things. because it has a cooldown.
This is the big deal. There is no special benefit/utility/raid buff that shadow priest brings right now, which means 100% of the priest population is healing and nothing else.
If druids didn’t have Wild Stikes druid would be tied with priest for best BFD heals right now.
12 seconds is hardly a cooldown considering other classes need to use 2+min cooldowns to do anything even remotely comparable and at a much higher mana cost.

I had to dps for one dungeon on my priest and it was depressing. Mind sear felt useless, none or the DoTs could tick long nuff or were outright resisted. I had more fun spamming holy nova for aoe before I respecced at 25 ( it did a decent amt of dmg but the mana cost is insane ). Shadow will prob get better when shadowform is able to be picked up. ( think that is how it’s been since og classic? )
I think they could deff add a holy dps caster if they added some decent runes. Holy fire is a fun spell, penance too feels fun to use for dmg.

That’s not what you said. What you said was that other classes could not do COMPARABLE things. Priest always had and always will have the best burst healing. That is their niche. They won’t be as good at healing over time or healing multiple targets, which druids and shaman will excel at.
Other healers are more proactive than reactive. Get over it.
Penance is 79 mana, which is not “nothing”. Which is on par with renew, dispel, cure disease, and lesser heal. It has that mana cost specifically because of the cooldown on it.
I’d be happy to double the mana cost, if we remove the cooldown.

You think it’s ok for a heal that nearly full heals someone to cost comparable mana to a LESSER HEAL just because it has a miniscule 12 second cooldown?
They could literally quadruple the mana cost and make it 15 second cooldown and it would still be the best heal in the game right now
No class has anything COMPARABLE to it even excluding mana cost

Penance without sp gear is 500ish healing over 2 seconds, interruptible and on a 12 second cooldown.
Rogues and probably several others have the DPS to burst you down in 12 seconds + have stuns and kicks.
Other healers need buffs. Priests dominate PvP because the others suck. It would be lame if all healers were pushovers and easy kills.
Ask Blizzard for a role queue that’s enforced via rune locking if you don’t want to deal with too many healers in BGs. Make it 1 tank 2 healers 7 DPS.

Yes. Because 12 seconds is a significant cooldown. It heals for 513 total right now. In line with the healing of heal. For a little less than half the mana, but on a 12 second cooldown interrupted by damage. And this is CLASSIC spell pushback. If you have no pushback resistance you might as well not cast it.
If you did that it would be taken even less than it is now, and would become relegated to rarely being cast, at which point why even have the cooldown.
Yea those Druids only got two of the best spells for druid in Lifebloom and Wild Growth. So terrible, only the best HPS healing spell in all of BFD and the best HOT in the game. Druids out here soloing their bosses for loot. Such a terribly useless class right?
They did that because there’s no point comparing the spell power situation right now because there’s very little of it on gear anywhere and every spell has a different coefficient. And most people probably don’t know it. I am willing to bet you don’t know any of them.
Wild growth is the single highest HPS heal in the game. What nonsense are you speaking here? It’s just all lies with you people. Garbage tier players that can’t stand being wrong at this point. I’m going to start putting people that are this wrong and this consistent with lying on ignore.
Hate to break it to you, no Shadow doesn’t get better, not even at 60, when only one was brought out of 40 people simply only to boost the damage of Warlocks, if they had multiple Warlocks, and 90% of the time they wouldn’t even bring a Shadow Priest a Disc Priest was able to maintain the debuff.
The issue with Penance it’s carrying the class entirely, we only have a viable Healing Spec currently, make that sub par what’s the point in playing Priest at all in Phase 1.
Personally I think that’s why Penance hasn’t been touched.
