Nerf penance

Penance is pretty stupid. Just click 1 button and bring someone from 5% back to 100% in 1 second.

It makes BG’s pretty miserable. If enemy team has more priests than your team it’s pretty much an automatic loss.

I get that 25 is hard to balance. But penance is so wildly unbalanced it definitely needs some tuning.

I think this is one issue majority of players can agree on.

And to the people that say just focus the priest, what about when there are 3 priests and PoM is bouncing 10x a second and they each penance each other to full

This request to nerf Penance is one of many examples of why Blizz needs to have one set of tuning rules for BGs and other group PvP activities… and another for PvE play.

I’ve mained a priest for over 15 years and I don’t do PvP. During that time, I’ve seen Priest abilities come and go and by far the most annoying changes have been because of the clamor for “balance” in PvP.

What the PvPers don’t seem to understand is that nerfing Penance doesn’t just affect them - it also affects all of us PvE people who simply want to survive while exploring Azeroth. Having a strong Penance makes solo PvE play a little safer, easier and more enjoyable. Equipping us with PoM makes dungeons safer and easier for everyone, primarily because it reduces the mana load on the priest. Having your priest healer go OOM because the tank chain pulled is not fun… and neither is having to wait while your priest drinks after every pull because of the mana cost of healing.

I understand the PvPers frustration with balance and agree that a solution should be found. I just disagree that the cost should be a less enjoyable experience for PvE players.

I can understand this. However, priests are also over performing in PvE and other heal specs are basically left unwanted because priests not only heal better but do it more efficiently.

Bro, priest are overhealing x2 to other healers in both scenaries, pve and pvp, we are in a state that groups demand priest over other healers, that is not safe for the game.

And you cant bring other healers to the state of priest, due to hybrid specs and pvp.

You say that dont play pvp, so im gonna try to resume it. In bg the team that have more priest wins.

We literally don’t raid unless there is a Priest. They are required and not replaceable in PvE and PvP.

You know Penance is one of our only good runes right? And finding healers for these BFDs isnt exactly easy as it is.

how do you heal 5% to 100% in 1 second when its a 3 second cast and heals for 175 per tick. Easily interruptible. that’s 525 health. No one at 25 has 525 health sir. The problem is people dont interrupt. Hell, I’ve seen people literally say it’s sweaty to interrupt, right here on these forums.

I can also say penance will lose it’s scaling as we get higher in level and gain more health. It already has slightly at 25 compared to lower levels. At lower levels I remember actually being able to heal myself fully in one penance.

Im over it people on my server complain about no healers in world pvp but then you see dumb posts like these and you gotta wonder why. Penance is like one of the few good runes worth using in the priest kit. Our playstyle is still 90% wanding and doting and these clowns wanna change the only thing we do different.

Homunculi has that clunky minion AI. Its horrendous to use they stand there next your char and you cant direct them. Circle of Healing is a shared slot with Penance so you dont take it unless its an aoe heavy fight. PoM is also good but its not really that good. It requires planning.

CoH is pretty doggy right now. The mana cost is way too high to actually be able to use it on bosses. I use it literally on one boss. In pvp its useless. Void plague is actually probably our best chest rune in pvp after the buff it got. Strength of soul is average. Don’t really shield much in pve due to the high mana cost and we dont cast big heals often enough for it to make a difference. Our healing chest rune is pretty miserable, which is why void plague is just best for dpsing

My point exactly our runes are extremely underwhelming and this thread wants to nerf the one rune we have that changes anything at all about classic priest.

False. Priest has a number of amazing runes. All top DPS parses have a Priest in the raid running homunculi for instance.

You said a “number of amazing runes” then said one rune with clunky AI and didnt mention any other runes. I am glad the devs dont only consider these forums when deciding balance changes thats all I am gonna say. Its a joke.

Void Plague is amazing as well. So is Prayer of Mending. Serendipity is strong. Circle of Healing is strong. PW:B is strong. Mind Sear is strong.

The only iffy Priest runes are Shared Pain, Twisted Faith, and SW:D.
