Every day i see people calling exclusive for priest for raids, wsg and bfd.
I can understand with a coordinate team you can beat the raid with any other healer, but priest with the cleaning and penance is just the easy mode that people prefer over other healers.
And speaking about wsg im not exagerating that people search only for priest, they want to fill all healers spot with priests.
When premades are start grouping and they start searching for healers, they dont type LFM healer, is LFM priest, other healers can go to ashenvale event…
I tried to be the better person and explain that as fairly and kindly as possible while also recognizing that you and I are playing this game very differently and there is nothing wrong with that.
I could just say you are bad with dps parcing grey and your boss times are as slow as sap running down a tree in winter with dps standing in corners staring at the wall while managing to still die, partly because skill issue and partly because lack of heals while you sit here on the forums and go “lol nothing to heal no dmg. O crap there goes my paladin I shoulda PENANCED MAYBE.”
Great irony. Anyway yeah, we’re off topic here and I fail to see what this log had really proven in the form of Penance being OP. You didn’t even use it when you needed to.
I just skimmed your post and did not see an attached link to a warcraft log after you claimed you are clearing the raid in 20 minutes. I have therefore disregarded your post.
Yea because the other healers don’t have their power kits yet.
Priests have bubbles, the only defensive magic dispel, and the best burst healing. They were also the best and most exclusive healer for BGs in original classic too.
It’s level 25 this isn’t much of a metric.
I do think penance values are high… but so are everyone elses. everyone else gets stupid high power runes. Priests gets like 2 and their dps spec doesn’t even exist.
Priests are OP in PvE and PvP. They just are. And personally I’m not sure I’m a huge fan of going into the next phase and still leaning heavily on one button. Priests are only going to get two new runes presumably, I doubt those new runes are going to suddenly empower the rest of our kit and break up the gameplay.
Nerfing penance makes more of our buttons more useful to us.
The only thing I get to do on my priest is heal and I have NEVER and I mean NEVER done BFD with two priests. If priests need a healing nerf, druid need a LOT of nerfs. So does just about every other class. Hunters and ret paladins out here shredding people like tissue paper but yea, let’s kill one of the healers while people keep complaining about not clearing BFD.
Priests that only use Penance will die. Period. It’s way more than a single button.
PoM is more important in raiding and PVP than Penance. Unless you’re solo.
PoM is really good but you don’t need to use it. In fact, if you want to help the homies parse well you have to run Homunculi since its the best physical raid debuff.
If you nerf the healing output or mana cost of Penance, many casual BFD groups that are already struggling will now run into an absolute wall that they will not be able to overcome.
There are not many interrupts in the game at level 25, nor do you have Mortal Strike / Wound Poison or Viper Sting. In later phases, when many more classes have interrupts and MS exists, Priests will be an absolute free HK regardless of how good Penance is. Nerfing it now would just gimp them even further down the line.
It’s also worth noting that Penance is a 12 second cooldown. If you can’t kill a Priest in that 12 seconds - when they literally have nothing to heal themselves with that isn’t easily interrupted - then that’s definitely a skill isssue.
Healers are already damn near impossible to find for pugs. Nerfing a role that is already pretty undesirable feels like a really bad idea.
And they might struggle less if they weren’t stuck in the mindset that they needed a Priest healer, but right now Priests are so good people think they need them and might overlook other good players too.
It’s not like Priest couldn’t get absorb runes in later phases that bypass mortal strike.
