I would sincerely suggest playing searing nightmare then. Not to directly aoe the adds, but just to make sure you have a pain running on everything all the time. I’m not suggesting leaving everything alive, in fact I think that strategy (While it has worked for some) is incredibly risky and instead recommend dealing with the fiends.
It does surprise me you report karam dying before raest though.
If you alternate Silence and Void Torrent for hands (Kick one and kill it slow, then burst down the next), and sear Sn occaisionally to make sure all the adds are always dotted with pain, you should be able to keep the room relatively clean, as well as save fear and dispersion to buy time if you need to soak a nearby rune.
I’ve tried Shadow, Disc, and BM. Tugar, in particular, feels very overtuned for some reason and I cannot put my finger on why. I think it’s because sub 50%, he winds up just coming close to 1-shotting you. Which is rough to deal with.
The Twins feel more doable than Tugar. But it is different for shadow priest since you don’t have the original S2M strat that you used to have, and without it, spriest doesn’t have the same kiting tools as hunter, druid or frost mage.
That being said, I had figured most people would be crying when they said it was overtuned. But, Tugar as I mention above, does feel very overtuned. I might try it on a couple other classes and see how it goes.
I dreaded Mage tower back in legion that I limited my must have skins to the tiger fists for my monk and the werebear and it was a nightmare then. Now it’s worse? Okay leaving that off my to do list then. I mean when they make it so the heart of Azeroth can’t be used, shadowlands powers and legendaries can’t be used and don’t seem to be giving powers back to legion legendaries…I kinda figured it’d be a nightmare but… yeah no I’ve suffered enough pain from the mage tower as is. I had to overcharge my druid’s weapon in legion to even beat it because the fight kept changing up on me faster than the videos told me and yeah no… I think I’m good. The reskins of the armor are…ok I guess…but not worth the headache for. If I want mythic armor appearances I’ll just run old world mythic raids…I’m not touching that dang tower again
I did “the job” in Legion, mostly wearing the junky gear you bought with nethershards. I have KSM. I’m at least reasonably skilled at my main’s class. I went in to see what all the fuss was about and quickly died on that same fight from damage my class has no possible way of mitigating. I didn’t bother trying again, I just logged out. That’s not a challenge. It’s not fun. Why don’t you go and actually attempt the current version for yourself rather than sit here and belittle others?
Agreed. You can kite the fiends, but if for some reason the whole mob gets a melee attack on you, you die instantly. (Psychic scream only works on a limited number of targets, so it won’t save you.) The fiends are relatively low health, so it makes sense to kill them with attacks that also work on Karam and/or Raest.
If I recall correctly, Karam only has 1/4 of the health of Raest, and he tends to move along with the fiends and get damaged along with them, so I find that he usually dies more often than I intend. I also suspect that devs tuned him to have less health for Shadow (compared to Frost, Affliction, Marksmanship, Balance) because of how limited Shadow is with regards to slows and CC while moving.
The spec is what it is, but I find that stopping to cast Void Torrent on the hands is usually very dangerous due to Karam’s fast approach. With Silence on CD and Void Torrent being the only way to kill the hand fast enough, you just have to risk it.
I don’t know if this is supposed to be sarcasm or if it’s serious, but I’m sort of with you on this. I stayed subbed for this long, just to be able to get a shot at getting the werebear. This crap isn’t what was on the PTR. It’s way overtuned, to the point to where it’s downright frustrating.
This is honestly the final nail in the coffin for me. It’s absolutely silly that there are so many issues with content that gets put out in this game.
Pair your VoiT cast with a Horrify stun on Karam and otherwise focus on maintaining distance, especially during Voidform when you have more free GCDs to move. 45 second and 30 second cd don’t line up perfectly, but that’s still going to work for 2/3 of the hands you have torrent assigned to at least.
And again I’m no arbiter of how hard these things should / shouldn’t be, but I think you can do this, so I’m gonna offer whatever advice I can to make that so.
I am just one player and I know that I don’t matter to Blizzard, but I am willing to follow through, for my own sake. I haven’t even logged in to try again. I am done unless the devs fix their mess promptly.
I just came back from a 12 month break because I needed some time away from World of Warcraft. Maybe that isn’t such a bad idea to take a break from the game. Unplug sort of speak and play other games. Come back and give the Mage Tower another try later on.
Also, I would imagine maybe there is some merit to what people are saying about the M.T being overtuned. I myself do not know, because I have no plans to bother with it this time.
I do understand people’s frustrations. Blizzard hasn’t had content in months and the content they do have is dry, and now they release timegated, difficult content that has to be completed in a few weeks? Yeah. I’d be mad too. I just don’t have much interest in the MT atm.
I am sure I could but I don’t care for the transmog recolors. I want the mount and there’s no way I can do the tank or healer (even Xylem) challenges as they are right now so there’s no point in trying. I have zero insensitive to do any of them if I can’t do all of them.
I suspect that largely holds true for the vast majority of players. There’s a reason why they chose to add that mount specifically as the reward, it came in second in the great mount poll.
Quite frankly, at this point I’d rather write Bobby Kotick a check for the mount and be done with it. I am sure he’d prefer that option too… kek.
They shadow ‘tuned’ between ptr and live, doubly enemy mob/boss hp and doubling the damage on some abilities. There was also a strat for bears to die and come back using the sanctum auto res trinket to drop stacks of Anhialate to make it managable (which also required you to have gotten lucky enough to get said trinket, mind you) and that was deemed ‘bad’ by devs so they made anhialate stacks persist through death so it becomes a pure dps and dodge everything check in phase 2 when your damage is already to low and the boss has been mega buffed
The encounter of the twins is literally impossible. I have tried all the classes and simply the frequency with which the Hands are created does not allow enough control of Reast so that he does not come close and one-shot you. In the PTR it seemed that the hands were created less frequently. I had high hopes for this content but this has really made the week off to me and completely took away my desire to play. This is not fun but just frustrating and stupid trash.
