You should wait until beta with that, it’s not the first time the devs lied.
The problem is just that the current writers will never ever let something nice happen to the race, not even the smallest things.

Yeah pre-order is no go for most things these days in general. Don’t know if I’ll bother with the new expac, maybe ‘wait and see’ (hurr) for a few months to let things roll and come back and check if they did anything good with the Night Elf story. Sadly, I’m afraid Elesana is right on the money. Someone on the writing team genuinely hates Night Elves. AFAIK no other zone (yes, zone, not just the city) in the game has been completely erased like Teldrassil has.

I already don’t pre-order until a month out when it counts.
It appears they want to use Tyrande in some capacity, so I doubt they just abandon that. Hopefully alliance only, and also hopefully we get to free the night elf souls (As a highlight) from the maw when That comes about.
I am cautiously optimistic. At least give it a try, being so down all the time can’t be fun.
You never know with these writers, they abandoned her in BfA already.
Well we can hope, but if I had to bet on it I’d say they won’t let us free them / have Sylvanas destroy them or something to become even more powerful.
I can’t be optimistic anymore after BfA, and I don’t expect the writers to suddenly change their writing style for the night elves, so I’ll just expect whatever is most realistic.

I can’t take anymore expacs with her as the focal point after shadowlands.

Well whatver happens, we know that it won’t end with her death because then it would literally be Garrosh 2.0.
Quick, we can push her into the maw and close the door behind her, throw away the key.

And trap our innocents in there with her? Already bad enough they have to endure Saurfang in there. We could surely do that after we freed the innocents, though. Or instead of killing Sylvanas, she could go into a dark cellar where she’s tortured in the new night elf city.
BUT: That would require new writers that don’t think “Night Elf Bad Sylvanas good”
Well after we save everyone of course… leave sad fang in there with her, good punishment for Sylvanas to hear about his sadness forever. Plus he is the butcher of teldrassil, his honorable death means nothing, the maw is a good place for him.

That’s technically incorrect. Teldrassil is still accessible via the magicks of the Bronze Dragonflight. While present day Lordaeron still technically exists on the map, it’s nothing but a quick death to those who think to enter. Theramore is also accessible via the same method.

You don’t even need to talk to an NPC. At least I didn’t need to. Just went to the island, clicked the portal and entered like normal.
We are in the Story forum though, nobody of us really cares about teldrassil being destroyed, we care about everything about the night elves destroyed.
Was Darkshore phased to the old version for you as well? Because you can’t actually fly to Teldrassil in the current world quest phase of Darkshore. Nor do you need to click on any portals?
It’d be nice if we got to free the souls lost during Teldrassil during the Ardenwald campaign, and that put a serious dent in Sylvanas’s plans.

I think you forgot that Saurfang is in the maw, trust me, those souls are being freed lmao.
I guess that depends on if they’re released piece-wise or in a “open the cage, be-free-my-pretties” manner.
Obviously, that means that we’ll release Saurfang’s soul, but none of the elves. Then, they’ll confirm their release in the 2021 BlizzCon Q&A. coughcoughwarfronts

Oh that will be no problem they’ll just let us free Saurfang and other prominent characters but keep the NE souls in there.
That’s how you get to Teldrassil now if you’re at top level. The Bronze Dragon you need to speak to is located on the road a bit north of Lor’Danel. She reverts Darshore to pre-Warfront and Teldrassil to pre burning. the relevant hyppogryphs become accessible as well. You’re transfered to a layer that corresponds to the older maps.
Lordaeron, Theramore, and Nethergarde Keep all operate the same way.
