X was the man. I dont agree with every detail of his views, but i agree with most of it and even the trees I dont agree with have a forest of truth in his words.

“Rage Against the Machine” is another one, when I was a tad younger I thought they were alright (some good songs here and there).
Fast forward to 2022 and they went from “eff you i won’t do what you tell me!” to “eff you you better do what the government tells you!”… my goodness what a 180, they might as well change their name to “Rage FOR the Machine” 
Lots of childhood bands/artists/icons/celebrities showing “their true colors” these past 2 years, it’s unfortunate

I dont care if they change sides…what I dont like is abusing the ‘authority’ one has to abuse someone else.
Young is no different than Blizzards employee abuses at this point as far as Im concerned

Listen everyone is entitled to their opinions (even Neil Young). However, part of me can’t escape the fact that he just doing all this to drum up whatever dying lime-light he can get.
Reminds me of my old as dirt father in-law sticking his nose in my family business thinking he’s needed still. Just go sit down old man!

I haven’t seen any indication that he is embarrassed. He doesn’t want to share a platform with an antivaxxer who is responsible for the deaths of thousands of smooth-brained individuals nationwide. I don’t blame him for that one, but I feel that he’s too principled for this era and is out of touch with how selfish humanity has become during his lifetime. He missed the transition due to his celebrity, but he clearly wants to make a point in his old age and remind everyone that not everything is about money. Good on him.
Oh, I doubt that. He’s deplatforming himself with these ultimatums and it’s costing him tons of money to do it. I’m sure he has more than enough money to never go broke for the rest of his life. Google says he’s worth $200 million.
Doubtful. Neil Young did a lot of protesting back in the day to fight against things he saw as wrong. This is just Neil being Neil. He doesn’t expect to win. A protest is never successful in the moment - but they do leave an impact, and often, things change over time to reflect what the protestors wanted when they made their stand.
There is a purpose to all of it. Neil Young has a platform he spent a lifetime building, and he’s using it to do what he believes in doing.
Everyone should do that, but most people are afraid of losing their money or their celebrity, so they keep their mouths shut. I long for an era in which every person is true to themselves and dedicates their resources to being the change they want to see in the world.

You might think that. But, no. He is just as politically motivated as uncle Ted Nugent. Who also goes completely bonkers crazy when it comes to politics. I don’t understand why musicians will sometimes get involved in politics like this. As it tends to eliminate a big chunk of their audience. But they do. Like Ted, he is genuinely that much of a political zealot.

The funniest part of it is that Neil doesn’t own the rights to his own catalog. He sold it for money. So he has no say over any of his old music. Whomever owns it though could end up suing him which I would find absolutely hilarious.
Yeah that’s the impression I got as well, I don’t think money is a factor since he’s already old and has been retired for years now. The whole thing (picking a fight with someone who actually is popular/Rogan) reeks more of simple attention-seeking tbh

It would be one thing is Rogan had “dissed” or insulted Neil (in which case a beef would be justified), but that’s not the case here. Neil is clearly the aggressor/instigator of the entire drama, and it shows with just how much it backfired on him/the public has sided with Rogan.
I care what he has to say but I’m also not some antivax smoothbrain boomer

Im learning first hand from my elderly mother who just sold her house, spent all the money and is now without a home or income other than her SSA retirement.
If we had paid attention maybe we could have kept her from destroying herself financially

Cancelation (destroying) over a difference of an opinion, etc is amoral.
People who say things like you just said all have something in common - they don’t believe in science.
That isn’t a valid option. You don’t get to not believe in science. It’s science.
When you reject it, that just means you’re incompetent and should have your rights taken away for your own good. Simple as that.
Rage Against the Machine never stopped being anti-government. They’re simply pro-science and pro-common sense. Like anyone with an IQ above room temperature.
I wish I could get hired to snipe antivaxxers with vaccines like a reverse assassin.
