Neil Young? Opposition to Microsoft

aging artist not many will recall.

I mean I know who the dude is and I have to go what songs would he sing that people would know.

If he had a piece of Freebird, maybe. Even the young bloods should know of that song. About as bar music as music can get. that ain’t him.

I mean I had to tell my 12 year year old to be quiet, listen and remember one in the car when a song came up. It was judas priest “breaking the law”. And I deem knowing its famed guitar riff mandatory knowledge.

all he knows of this song, sadly, is a beavis and butthead meme reference. made me sad really.

The list of video games which includes ‘Harvest Moon: No the Other One’ pretty much guarantees it is.

Thanks. Don’t follow all that stuff. Just needed a yard stick here.

Wow, news is really weird now-a-days.

I mean: “At press time, Neil Young said he would soon be preparing a similar ultimatum challenging Epic Games to either admit that they ripped off PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or remove his premium skin and emotes from Fortnite .”

He’s probably most well known for being part of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young than for his solo career.

Probably a PlayStation fanboy?

Malcolm X warned us about people like Neil Young.
They befriend you to be just like you.
Then they steal your voice and the soapbox you stood on.
Then they change the direction of what you stood and spoke for.

Rinse wash repeat.

Oh, cool. So honesty and depth of humour. Works for me.

Wth?? You ok?

Legit never heard of Neil Young until he started a random “beef” with Joe Rogan this past week, that’s how irrelevant he is

After his “campaign” backfired I Googled him out of curiosity, apparently he’s some washed up rock artist from back in the day.

Really? I’m that old? :slightly_frowning_face:

He’s not irrelevant to the history of music at all. He’s part of the sound that moved music forward.

Saying Neil Young is irrelevant is like saying Elvis Presley is irrelevant.

He may not be irrelevant but, let’s be honest here, the Spotify thing is pretty much the first time he’s been in the spotlight in a couple decades.

Love me some Neil Young :

Cinnamon Girl

Old Man

Heart of Gold

Ohio

The Needle and the Damage Done

Southern Man

And that’s his solo stuff. The Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young stuff is also there. Like their cover of Woodstock :

Edit Maybe not quite Elvis Presley, but somewhere between him and Willie Nelson. After some digging, You’re right.

Generation gaps. God “I remember” when my grandfather told me was born in 1900’s my gram 1912. Later I figured out how close they were to the Civil war, and my great grand parents…and pretty much at my age now I’m figuring out why change takes so long.

Good old Neil Young. He still thinks his opinion matters and that classic rock music as a genre carries clout in 2022.

Well he is trending right now,
Just a couple days before he did same with Spotify

Hurricane

After the Gold Rush

and being the influence behind the 90s grunge scene, both the music and the aesthetic (the man is literally known as the ‘Godfather of Grunge’).

yeah, abusing ones position to try to silence people they disagree with is enough for me. I’ll never listen to Youngs music ever again over this crap.
And I dont like Rogan and have never listened to more than a single minute of him in total

He pulled this same stunt with Spotify demanding Joe Rogan’s pod-cast be removed. Spotify removed him instead. Love when cancel culture backfires. Ultimate Uno reverse…

funny irony is he’s WITH “the man” now instead of fighting against, lmao
