NEED system in LFR is Flawed

I see people say this all the time. But when tmog drops I want it doesn’t let me roll. It quite literally says you already have better gear.

I always have to pay someone for the mogs

I’d ignore you too. System is not flawed at all. Why is someone not allowed to roll need on something since they put in the work just like you to down the boss? Entitled much?

If someone rolled NEED they likely want it for a reason. If they end up not wanting it then guess what? They will post in the chat telling people to roll on it.

So the person doing the content doesn’t deserve the same chance at a reward for that content just because they have something better?

The “how” it is asked goes a long way too, I won the 1-handed strength axe off Fyrakk in LFR the other week on my pally who’s almost 480, I don’t tank, nor do I plan to, I wanted the mog (and I was rolling off-spec, no one rolled main spec on it), and someone politely asked if they could have it for their off-spec, and I gave it to them. While no one is obligated to respond to another player, normally bringing up someone’s ilevel is going to make them hold onto that piece even more tightly. Of course just because you’re polite doesn’t mean that the person has to give it to you, but it doesn’t hurt to polite when asking and just say “okay” if you’re told “no.”

They were implemented exactly as blizzard said they would (actually slightly more strict than blizzard originally posted in beta). That poster thinks they aren’t working properly because they didn’t read the original announcement of how the system works.

Alright, thanks Bob.

Probably, but I also don’t want to assume I saw all communications on the subject or exclude the possibility of some scenario where it’s bugged and I’m unaware.

The best solution, as someone else pointed out in another thread…in LFR, when you need on something, it soulbinds to you. No trading, no selling. If you need it for transmog, or disenchanting, or whatever…hey, it’s still yours, there’s no issue. If your “need” is to try to get gold from other people in the group, tough.

Rationalizers: But… what I need it for is MY business. I “need” the gold!

I was lucky enough to be in town in a 5 stack Tindral fight last night.

Tanks were both new to the fight, and a Ele Sham and myself as Balance were healing the ents/brambles. We got there in the end.

I agree with you, though. Something like that hadn’t happened to me since SL with Halondrous (spelling?)… and I LFR a lot.

How’s this for rationalizing:
GD claims that low ilvl players should have a monopoly on loot because high ilvl players don’t have a use for it. But every time players demonstrate a use for it, GD complains that it’s immoral… because it brings loot chances for low ilvl players back down to average. It’s circular logic built on the assumption that players should be obligated to help each other.
It’s a nice sentiment but it’s usually toxic when enforced, especially when enforced by players rather than Blizzard. It also only seems to be brought up in the context of loot distribution (GL or PL). You never see such advocacy for self-policing when talking about mount farming vs hunter taming, helping new players acclimate to m+, waiting to pull a rare, gold charity, etc.

Sorry… who exactly is saying this? And what is “use” in this context?

This is probably the most ridiculous part of the argument. PL was an even worse system for getting loot to the lower item level players than GL.

I think they should only allow greed rolls on necks, rings and trinkets if you already have them. Everyone is needing on everything (not me) whether they have it or not, which kind of defeats the purpose of even running LFR in the first place.

If unclear, I meant that people still brought up these arguments during PL. There were posts complaining about high ilvl players not trading away gear.

You can’t roll need on the same item you have, unless it rolls tertiary stats or sockets.

Maybe don’t whisper them.

Are you seriously asking if people need something after they Need it?

System works fine. Highest roll wins.

Also, transmog exists. Personally, I hope they change how transmog works. If you loot an item on mythic difficulty, it should unlock all lower versions of the transmog. That way, Mythic raiders aren’t rolling need in LFR.

Complaint threads about needing for transmogs. And now complaint threads about loot auctions.

Right, but the arguments when we had PL were that PL needed to have GL-like restrictions on items higher level players were eligible to receive. The people who are arguing to go from GL to PL because they think lower item level players deserve the loot more are quite literally arguing for higher geared players to get a higher distribution of the loot from a raid.
