Need before Greed: Why causals and solo players quit

No. Actually you’re trying to say your reason for need is the only reason for need. Players run all different kinds of content to fulfill their “needs”.

Some people need the upgrade. Others need a piece to complete their mog. In random que’d content one need does not out weight the other.

That’s 100% wrong.

NEED is when the item will help you play the game - its an upgrade.

GREED is when you have some other use for it like making you pretty, or for gold, or crafting.

Blizzard deployed a two tier roll FOR A REASON. And that reason is being subverted.

The trick is to not loot it and get it mailed.

In that case though it was an upgrade anyway.

Group loot sort of forces you to bear that with everyone. Personal loot had options/workarounds.

Lord have mercy

These are your definitions. They are not defined by anyone but you. Other people may or may not share them.

Your definitions are no more applicable to me than my definitions are to you.

Conquest is a time gated currency for obtaining deterministic items. Sparks is a time gated crafting component for obtaining deterministic items. Both item types go to around the same item levels.

The group vs personal loot issue is not the core of what I am talking about. It is only a raging dumpster fire of a symptom, and the big front and center one dragging everyone down. I am talking about the fundamental structure of the drop loot. It is complete nonsense, it has not changed since vanilla, and the huge dumpster fire of convoluted nonsense around equipment we have is all cosmetic changes to prop that up. The loot should be something else entirely.

out of curiosity, like what?

Another fun fact about that run: I put him on ignore after explaining my reasoning and repeatedly turning him down.

I took him off ignore when I saw “calm down they want it for transmog or something” in the raid chat. His next line was about how stupidly selfish I was and how everyone should report then kick me from the LFR.

I have made about 15 wall of text post suggestions on what is a better way to do MMO loot and gearing. Frankly, there’s no need for that. Blizzard could think up their own new more sensible loot system or copy one of the dozens in existence. Randomly handing out 2 base items at a time is just not doing it for anyone except funnel services.

This supports the notion that LFR causes more loot drama than any loot system does.

If it was an upgrade it wasnt tradeable. So he was making a scene for nothing.

The loot drama with personal loot started when players asked to see all the loot that dropped then later on asked to trade pieces.

Not looting it and waiting to get in the mailbox was a good way to avoid loot drama or harrasment from random people who did not know better.

It was the same ilvl. It was just an upgrade because my current weapon had a bunch of my worst secondary stat and the LFR weapon had a bunch of my best secondary stat. The weapon had the reminder text saying it was tradeable for the next while.

As a returning player, I both hadn’t considered just leaving all loot on the bosses nor the drama that would unfold about a LFR bow at the tail end of an expansion.

And if I need it for transmog? Transmog is how I play the game.

And if I need gold? Or crafting mats?

If you just leave the boss, without doing some manual loot shenanigans, doing that would also mean you don’t get the rep/gold that the boss dropped.

You could have said you cant trade it if you wanted to. Its a sidegrade but still not like they would know.

Either way the not looting till after you were done was awesone for avoiding that drama. It was very nice for collecting mogs last expansion.

The gear from lfr is also low in comparison to stuff you get from mythic plus even low keys.

Lfr having unique mogs is a nice option but even casually you can get better gear running mythic 2-10s.

You could loot, but dont loot the drop. Leave it on the body.

Wouldnt tell anyone unless you looted. Unless you had an addon or sonething announce your loot.

This also assumes that they either don’t have auto-loot on, or know the hotkey to manual loot when auto-loot is on.

You being pretty doesn’t take priority over someone who is trying to get geared. Your ability to fight, heal, or tank is not affected in any way by your appearance. The same is true for gold and crafting mats - there are plenty of other sources for that which don’t involve taking gear from other players.

You wanting something for casual reasons at the expense of people who need it to play the game is by definition GREED.

That is your opinion, nothing more.

I doubt someone that obsessed with loot would have been tricked with lying. I guess I could have enchanted it or something that made it unable to be traded but I doubt that would have done changed his behaviour.

On a LFR related note: Why not make the transmogs available for Ancient Vault Artifacts and have them drop from all the LFR bosses? I already don’t need the rep but others could use a boost. That way raiders do LFR for extra rep or the transmog without taking gear from those who need the ilvl.
