Necrolytes are cooler. So cool in fact that if Blizzard ever puts them in game, they will come in as a hero class. Like Death Knights but cooler.
Literally soul harvester right now. A lot of their spells are based off Necrolyte spells and even has a thing called Necrolyte teachings.
Literally the only difference between a warlock and a Necrolyte is that Necrolytes just don’t have the power to use demons and fel. So they stick to one school of magic, shadow/void and summon small undead.
But reaping of souls, draining life, souls, using souls as fuel. Shadow magic and curses. Yeah, affliction warlocks.
Let’s be honest…I’m for Tinkers and others for Necromancers or even others. We’re not going to get them anytime soon. It would be nice but the only thing that we seem to be getting after years of asking is player homes.
Boy, only 6-8 more months of tinker vs. necromancer vs. bard discourse before the Midnight announcement confirms it’s either something that actually fits the theme of the expansion, or no new class at all. I especially love reading about necromancers being proposed in a dozen different incarnations, one of which involves creating a whole new system of cosmetics to let them latch onto warlocks.
I would say that necromancers will never be a class, but at this point, it’s probably more likely than reskinning either a portion or the entirety of warlocks. The idea that they’d have to change DKs shouldn’t be too much of a hurdle when Unholy’s necromancy theme is already piss-poor (one permanent minion, or two with a talent, with the rest of them being temporary summons) and neither of the spec’s Hero trees buff its existing minions in any way.
Thats an unholy DK, unless you imagine necromancer to be black robed hunchback creepy people who waive their arms to raise undead? Cause thats not what they are. Unholy dk spec fits the bill 100%.
They were in the official survey. Unholy Dk’s are similar to Necromancers, but an actual Necromancer would be a spellcaster clothie, and it would be the first new class ever added to wear cloth.
Necromancers are a summoning class, something we lack since Demonology warlocks are really the only thing that could be considered a summoner.
The problem is not overlapping FANTASY, and it never has been. The problem is overlapping gameplay, because literally everything a Necromancer would actually do is already covered by either Warlock or Death Knight. The devs MIGHT be able to come up with enough unique ideas to make Necromancer a Warlock spec, but a full class? I just don’t see that happening.
It’s kinda gonna be hard for them when all of them are raising dead, frosties are bringing dead dragons and dead frostwyrm babies, blood DKs are literally summoning blood beasts now and Unholy brings the whole kitten kaboodle of mages, ghouls, aboms etc.
Actually both Demon Hunters and Warlocks use demons to fight. I suggest visiting the class halls of each class and see how many demon allies they have.
Also you call your DK a necromancer? Why because he’s in Unholy Spec? So what if you change to Frost you become a Frost Mage? How does that work?
TBF, we’re very likely to get Tinkers VERY soon. Earthen were clearly added to give both factions an additional Tinker race. Also the concept can fit as a Titan-based class, so that sets it up for 13.0.
After Shadowlands, I don’t see another death expansion anytime soon.
Not really always. There is no set way of what a necromancer is other than it raises the dead to obey its will and uses dark/death magic and pestilence.
Literally Unholy DK. If its a caster its a dark wizard with necromancy.
A DK is a necromancer.
In RPGs, a necromancer is a magic-user who specializes in the dark arts of death, undeath, and demon summoning. Necromancers use their powers to: Manipulate souls, Cast spells, Bind souls into service, Reanimate corpses, and Raise the dead to serve as undead slaves.
Huh so warlock can be your caster necromancer after all.
But the true answer why we dont have one that you speak about is because DK and Warlock both overlap that class so much theres no point in making it other that as maybe a glyph for lock or DK.
I guess it could have a spell color difference. And a blood magic 2nd spec maybe a tank spec uses bones as armor though again dk. Eh
