I like Diablo’s Necromancer.
Actually PoE 2’s Necromancer (Witch) is pretty cool too.
You’ll always hit the DK wall when talking about Necros in WoW.
Just gets everyone wound up, and then folks start fighting.

Or they could, hear me out… not do that, considering we know from Druids that when you have four specializations one of 'em always become “the forgotten one.”
Furthermore if folks want to play as a necromancer, Death Knights are there for you. Necromancy has nothing to do with the armour type you have but the thematic styling of it. Because if folks thought otherwise, everyone who is asking for Necromancer would be more than happy with Warlocks - and thematically, Death Knights are Necromancers (and gameplay-wise, but that’s a reality for some reason folks asking for names to become classes never wish to accept).

I doubt its the next class but that would be amazing!
I’ve wanted a proper necromancer since Vanilla (and especially when Wrath happened). Since Shadowlands it would be so easy to make a very good Necromancer class that has a Tank, DPS and Healing spec too…
DK’s are spell casters as well.

I would have bet just about anything that Necromancer was going to be a hero spec for Warlocks or Deathknights. It’s a good thing that I don’t gamble.
Have people been asking for it, though

At least it’d be available to every race which makes it better than some other suggestions.

Hmm, would rather necromancers than tinkers, personally. Yeah, as people are quick to point out, there is a lot of lore overlap between necromancer and unholy dk, but it’s not insurmountable. We have have had paladins and holy priests for 20 years, after all. The real question is: what would Necromancer do? Obviously one spec would be a spam summoner, but you would need to consider how to make it feel different from demo and bm. Are we getting another shadow dot spec? Could we feasibly get a healer or tank somehow? More support? What other gameplay styles can be gleaned?
Death Knights are not the same thing. You’re the type of person who thinks a shaman and a druid are the same thing too I bet.
I been asking for years for Necrolytes as they were in WC1 Orcs and Humans… but wont come… fun detected thats why.
The best you’re going to get is hero talents that allows warlocks to dabble in necromancy. Like they used to in the old strategy games.
This isn’t directed at you really so I hope it doesn’t come off that way.
I never understood this mindset that DK’s or Warlocks were in any way shape or form Necromancers… at least not in the way that the people asking for Necromancers are tending to be looking for. DK’s are Death Knights, which while they share some abilities with Necromancers… they never really will be what people are looking for in that regard.
Warlocks at least have a little more standing on this end cause one could easily see the connection. Pet class that does the thing. But Warlocks are Fel users specifically not users of Death magic so this doesn’t really pan out. Also, at least for me, when I think of Necromancers I don’t think of them using the “pets” as their main gimmick except in their tank specs where you would see an army of the dead sort of design. Their Healer spec would be “stichfleshing” and anima use while their dps would be more the caster of shadowfrost and controlling spells. (Both of which of course would have some ability to summon forth undead minions but it wouldn’t be their main thing. Thats, again, the tank thing.)
Feels like people are just looking at the lightest version of mechanics and trying to fit the class peg into holes it won’t fit in to me.
Again not really meaning to come at you or anything just I see this mindset a lot and I do not get it.
It isn’t my mindset, it’s what I expected from Blizz based off their historical interpretations of what the player base has asked for.

But like 1/8th the size.
Yet my Death Knight can summon ghouls, skeletons, abominatins, skeletal mages, Giests, Gargoyles, undead dragons, etc. They can summon magical scythes and spread diseases to weaken and destroy people. He can even summon undead horsemen to aid him in battle and cast various death magic spells.
How is he not a necromancer?

They should be a skin for warlocks 
Death Knights were created by a warlock.
DKs are 2ND place Necromancers 
But warlocks? …
Warlocks are 1st
