Lol this. I get it if you’re just flat broke and didnt plan ahead I guess… But this is the last content of the game. It should require consumes, and if you’re not using them now, what are you saving them for?
but naxx is easy you don’t need world buffs or 20 consumes…say all said months ago
or if you wanna go for speed other then that don’t bother
I’m gonna save all my flasks for Classic Mythic Castle Nathria. I hear its gonna be super hard and those flasks are really gonna pay off then!
Doesn’t seem to be a problem on non mega servers.
Ugh think of all those wasted flasks and consumes used to parse in farmed content. I hope those arent the same players asking for handouts after they were so wasteful. Big reeegrets
It’s not easy, but it’s not as hard as people are making it out to be.
You don’t need consumables or world buffs for every fight, except maybe to get over some checks that are preventing further progression.
Until things are on farm to the point where we’re clearing in one night and pushing for faster clear times, I’m only popping consumes on bosses. If I die on trash for some odd reason, I don’t re-pop until we get to the next boss and are doing serious attempts on that boss. Even on a boss like 4 horsemen, consumes aren’t even necessary. It’s an execution fight above all else. Consumes aren’t necessary on most bosses in this raid, straight up. On serious DPS checks like Patchwerk or Loatheb than yeah, they’re extremely beneficial.
I’m one of those people who hates to be cheap when it comes to consumes but with the current inflation of herbs and other consume reagents, it’s just a lose-lose proposition to be WASTING consumables in this raid. Prices will eventually go down again but when you’re paying 7G for a single plaguebloom or 20+ gold for a single firewater or frostmaul e’ko, it’s simply not sustainable long-term unless you’re breaking ToS regularly. And we’re not even getting into T3 costs or crafted FrR set costs via frozen runes which are 200+ gold apiece still.
Use consumes on serious boss attempts where they matter. That’s the TLDR version. If you’re one shotting everything and going for clear speeds, of course keep those consumes up and zoom zoom. But we’re personally not there yet, hopefully that changes this week.
But to clear those checks, you need the majority of your raid to survive with their world buffs on. If the raid doesn’t consume, more people will die. So you consume to keep your wbuffs for the wbuff checks, which are many (Loatheb, Patchwerk, 4H if you are burning Thane, Sapphiron).
From what little information we had from former devs, the servers started having trouble around 3.5k, so they didn’t really go that high very often at all, a typical server being around 2-2.5k instead.
Now we have servers that are 4-5k, though I don’t think lately they’ve been that high, since I haven’t seen any queues even at primetime on any of the servers I watch.
Anyway, we do have pretty close to double what we should have online on a server for a more Vanilla-ish experience.
i wasnt prepared for it, also didnt wana wipe for days on end and waste thousands of gold i didnt have. the bots and rmt’s killed my drive to play the game, why should i be one of the few people that actually earns their gold the hard way while everyone else gets away scott free by buying theirs. i was also mainly into the game for pvp and pve was always a sideshow. i only got into raiding seriously to compete on logs after i hit r14 and that didnt really pan out the way id hoped. will likely be back for arenas in tbc tho
Flasks aren’t expensive in TBC tho, only in Vanilla.
You guys are running Naxx?
The cost of consumables is insane. It’s always been insane but it’s definitely worse in naxx. I’m going to end up having to quit raiding because i can’t afford flasks.
I would be very surprised if your guild would prefer you quitting over raiding with no flasks. Tell your guild you are broke, and offer to raid flaskless before you quit.
Honestly, folks need to get smarter about when they consume. You’re going to go crazy and broke minmaxing full flasks, pots, etc on every single fight.
I was in a naxx clearing guild in vanilla – flasks were reserved for very specific occasions, when we hit a roadblock of a boss we had tried multiple times before and just needed that extra push. Full elixirs werent commonly used either – again, just something kept in reserve for bosses that had given us extended trouble.
Loatheb, Sapphiron, KT are the only times I recall raid wide flasking going on, and Loatheb flasking was dropped pretty quickly as its one of those fights that is more execution than anything. More commonly you would only flask tanks for certain fights.
Flasks were still super expensive by average standards even back then and using them wasnt taken lightly. They cost less (around 50g on stonemaul), but the average player also had WAY less gold, so its all relative. The difference is there just wasnt the extreme pressure to always be flasked and full potted and buffed every single raid night, all night long.
Blizzard really needs to increase material drop rates, but sadly i doubt they will. The struggle continues.
I report herb bots in retail, blizzard in-game mail within 24 hours to say my report got someone banned.
Reporting bots in classic, 2+ weeks and still waiting for a single blizzard in-game mail. I’ve reported some of the same bots 10 different times because they’re still not banned.
I expect credit card swiping to increase drastically in TBC+.
Just to be pedantic…I don’t think you can logically apply hypo/hyper as a descriptor to most of any group…
To be sure, people buying gold aren’t getting away “scott free”…they’re both paying real currency, gotten from real time spent earning…and (I think) they’re taking some risk with their account (I dunno how risky that actually is…cynics of course will claim there’s no risk…)
