Yea, that is actually something I hadn’t considered. My brain was in “old wow” mode where we had a ton of servers. I wonder how lean a server list we’ll be getting.
Too bad we can’t reserve our Retail names that we have right now for Classic, since a lot of my toons are using the names they originally had in Classic and I’d like to use them again.
As a former “abuser” of the name grabbing system back in the day, where you could open a ticket to a GM and ask for a certain amount of names and if they were unavailable on inactive accounts, they’d free them up for you. Now that isn’t the case, and unavailable inactive names are only freed up every expansion release I believe, or every other release, I’m unsure. So for me to get in early and grab some names that would eventually be unavailable throughout most of classic, I’d say its worth it.
More importantly, i hope we get the server names a week before character creation, so guilds can plan their landing points. Lots of serious guilds are already posting and forming.
People that are smart will either choose their look prior. Or immediately create a character with the name they want, then customise a new character to see what they want before deleting the old char (with your name) and recreating it quickly now you know the look you want.
Haha totally true. Hopefully it won’t be as heavy as release. Perhaps some will be less in a hurry to reserve names etc.
Or hopefully they have fixed their issues from the stress tests.
Hope!!
To be fair, their recent releases like expansions and stuff have been so much smoother over the years.
Not sure when you last played or if you’ve been involved in many of the recent expansion releases but they’ve been pretty decent.
I like Legion had the smoothest one. Although I could be remembering it wrong.
I thought people were delusional to think a season starts or ends on anything but the first day/last day of a month.
I just learned in America your summer actually ends 23sep, starts 21june.
Why has your country done this?..
In mine, dec1 summer starts, march1 autumn starts, june1 winter starts etc. Etc.
So much easier to remember… so im curious without googling further…why the odd dates in the USA?
I won’t be taking off work for name creation. I will probably create my three characters per account in the evening or maybe even the next day. I am not recreating my old characters (who I still play on current WoW) so I plan on making all new names using the random name button as a starter point to find something that feels nearly right and then modifying it a little.
Speaking of name creation, something I will not do like I did the first time was give all of my characters the same first syllable. It seemed logical at the time so people would know it was ‘me’ even when I was on different alts but it really sucks for sending mail with the autocomplete. I am going to try to make sure every character on the faction starts with a different letter of the alphabet.
