Castrate M+ gearing wonāt get me back to Mythic raiding
I think this is the crux of the problem.
I got KSM pugging as a tank in week 1 - and Iām a 614 ilvl tank. And I think a good place for me to āprogressā in M+ would be taking my 7+ to 7++ and timing 8s across the board.
Problem is - I get literally nothing out of these keys. Iām maxed on Runed Crests and the only upgrades I could get from end of dungeon are upgrading champion pieces to heroic.
But without Gilded Crests Champion Gear and Heroic gear is the same gear - so thereās literally no upgrades to get.
So I either queue for 9s and feel like Iām a liability because I donāt have access to Gilded Crests and base Mythic track gear from raid, or I wait and slowly creep my way to 619 ilvl (several weeks), where a 9 probably feels a lot better.
I figured, being an āend game pillarā thereās some way to farm them from delves - but itās that delve map RNG lottery just to get 3 crests from a bountiful delve. They should make 3 Gilded Crests the end of dungeon crest for a +11 delve if itās going to be an āend game pillarā should be some way to farm crests.
But 9s is too high, I could live with 8, 7 is probably the right spot though.
I agree, Its a bit early in the season to say in great certainty, but from my perspective and the people i play with, the changes to the mythic track rewards seems to be the biggest pain point.
It seems like the Jumping point from doing 9s to 10 is huge, not only because of the affix ( that is expected) but the fact we have no M+ source of gear progression until your into that bracket. This is starting to kick in as our teams are fully kited in heroic gear.
I feel they should have an option as a vault reward for guilded crests or start dropping at 8 to at least allow the heroic gear track to fully upgrade and crafted gear upgrades to help get over that hump and start getting the vault rewards to move into 10+
I think it was healthy for the game before to have a something worth farming at a lower level, to have the experienced players mixed with less experienced players. This is why they had added the bonus when you helped another player get score. Currently it seems the new system has created some pretty hard lines that are not easily crossed, as the only source of gilded crest being 9 is basically a push key, 8 would add some wiggle room.
Tried it on a 10, 3x spears and boss died under 2 min.
Didnāt even break 1m hps.
Kinda wished to see what would happen if the group couldnāt cheese the fight.

Iām against the concept of incentivizing good players to carry the bads.

Right, sort of my point. There is no wiggle room. If you had more wiggle room at 8, you wouldnāt have as many in the 9 bracket. You dont want someone in your 9 key that only wants crests and doesnāt care much if you time it.
7ās are already less desirable and Iām sure you donāt care about them and are just farming specific gear slots.
Thereās no issue with it being at 9 though. 10s are more efficient.
And 11 gives people a chance to fail once.
Iām not gonna lie, Iām envious. However, what we discussed was doing it without spears by focusing the abom every time.

This was just one of our attempts. Our first attempt would have been a kill but the hook failed, someone got gibbed by the fixate and it was gg.
My instinct is to throw the dps under the bus, but first Iād still like to see you prove that focusing the abom without spears is as viable as you claim.
Iāve done that on a 9 (after multiple attempts) but that was tyrannical, so 10% on that with way less gear.
Anyway, did finish NW 10 without timing it.
Easy and hard is relative though. I felt appropriately challenged healing a timed Mists 10, and kinda dread some of the harder ones, others think Mists is a free key and a joke.
I came out of a lvl 5 GB on my lock and it feels way overtuneā¦I donāt even wanted to set foot of that place in higher keys

The community doesnāt depend on good players to uplift the bad.
Right, good players are just born good from whole cloth, ready to go out and time +10s in ilvl 600 gear.
How about play with people of equal skillish and contribute their fair share?

Bliz keep adding more and more mechanics in to dungeons under the assumption players will start pressing buttons but it doesnāt happen, just puts more pressure on those that are currently carrying runs.
The pressure on tanks and heals in particular keeps rising. I wonder where it is going to stop. With each increase in workload they push more and more players out of those roles. This isnāt just about skill, it is also increasingly exhausting to play these roles plus you get the added fun of taking abuse from players who donāt press buttons and are oblivious to why a key failed.

It most absolutely is about skill.
Thatās why there are many difficulty levels ranging from stand in stuff and live and dodge or die or pop a defensive or die.
