Mythic Plus is going in the Wrong Direction

That’s why there’s always players who push for max rewards from KSM vaults.

Indeed, but at that point gear is meaningless because it just offsets higher scaling difficulty. Hence we can do without it.

For sure. I think it’s because people want change. Even people that love the game want expansions to change enough things to be interesting, but not so much they have to start over legion brought a TON of change, so people got hopeful that the next pass, the next patch might change the thing they feel strongly about.

But right now, we’re entering into season 10 of shadowlands and that’s just too long to wait for something specific. It’s like when you’re dating someone and the “newness” starts to wear off, and suddenly everything about them is infuriating. Their cute absentmindedness is now just stinky socks in the living room floor and a bathroom that never gets cleaned.

The one thing I will say is that Blizzard did shoot themselves in the foot by making Champion gear cap out at 619 while also requiring Gilded crests to upgrade Heroic gear beyond 619. Most gear players get out of heroic raid is functionally equivalent to the gear players get from drops in T8 bountiful delves without Gilded crests. And that’s a problem. I really don’t think heroic track gear should be capped at the same item level as champion gear until you get the myth track upgrade currency; but if that overlap is going to exist, making Gilded crests easier to obtain (going from +9 to +8) is something I supported, even though I wouldn’t be sad to see myth track vault rewards moved up higher than +10.

Your feelings about how the season play and whether it’s fun is subjective; you can’t be wrong about that.

But your claim about how much participation exists in the season is an objective fact to which we have the numbers to prove. And participation is not down for this season across the player base, which is honestly rather astounding given 10 key levels were nuked from existence between the previous non-fated season and this one.

Right. But not everyone shares our views of fun = challenge (thus content beyond reward level)

Gotta appease everyone

Sure but those people are the ones currently growing bitter and resentful towards the game because they can’t get that next rung of ilvl they need to justify their time investment in the game.

I’d rather those people quit and come back next season than have that bitterness turn to them quitting for good.

Assuming they would. In my sphere of friends, people would just level more alts. At one point in Dragonflight, I had 5-6 characters at gear cap.

There should just be a consistent 7~ ilvl overlap across the board instead of 12 then 7.

Hero to 619 gilded 626
Champ to 606 runed 613
Veteran 593 carved to 600

Still offers room to grow without invalidating the tier above.

Not opposed. But if you give them their 619 gear all in week 1 and they have nothing to co past week 3 because theres no progression to push them on their way to KSM, you lose a large chunk of the player base and revenue with that super early.

This will being around a change, most likely negative, to the things we enjoy.

Thus my comment about the slower pace to max ilvl being a necessary evil

This is such an insanely out of touch take that’s it’s not even really worth replying to. There’s no way you actually think this right lmao

But it’s only slow if people can actually get myth track now. For those who can’t nothing changes, and it’s those who can’t now who are complaining things are too hard.

exactly! it’s kind of like how pro baseball players only play baseball because they’re not good enough to play rugby

Pure curiosity, not trying to be obtuse or anything, but is that info from RIO or a different source? Just looking so i can pull that information as well and argue with my guild LOL

I think Torghast was also frequently played.

But I don’t think numbers tell how fun or frustrating people think content is.

Fair point. But speeding up gearing more than it already is, isnt the solution IMO

Satisfaction survey might be a good idea.

For those whom heroic gearing matters for it wouldn’t be being sped up, and for those doing challenge content it’d effectively be being removed as it served as nothing more than a means to an end.

How do you propose getting your “means to an end” without affecting anything below mythic track?

Change nothing, delete myth track.

Scale mythic around the assumption of 6/6 hero ilvl.

This is fine without rewards on failed runs. But people want no depletion, and full rewards for failure, which is a hard no
