Mythic+ culture is extremely toxic. Here’s why

well, if you’re alliance i can at least remedy that somewhat.

i ain’t very nice, but i take care of my people. :man_shrugging:

It’s a nice offer and I don’t mean to derail the thread but I’ve tried making friends before and it never works out for me. It’s hard to explain why, TL;DR having friends on the autism spectrum is just more work than it’s worth and not worth it, and is usually just depressing for me and makes my life worse off than it already is and like, I’m just trying to play a video game and be positive instead.

eh, offer’s yours if you ever choose to take up on it. the pride of kalimdor, community finder, we’re listed.

tons of people from gen discussion there who aren’t such bad folks and have an easygoing attitude.

And I’m sure you’re very friendly and great people, but it’s not you, it’s me. Thanks for the offer though.

you are very likely never going to find that in this game again.

We got a small taste of it with Return to Kharazan and Operation: Mechagon, hopefully we get more of that in Shadowlands.

Yea, not gonna lie i am a little sad when i see a shaman healer.

Honestly… i think the culture isnt just LETS ALL BE MDI, but a combination of that and burned bridges from past experiences. Resto is alright, and can heal 15s. Its just harder.

I think its more a class balance design. Ive been doin guild runs most of 8.3, we usually rock a hpal enh destro randomdps and then i tank. Whenever our resto shaman comes in to heal me, i feel the difference, but i know shes a great player cause shes alwaya #1 hps in raids.

Different kits arent balanced the same

The word toxic, is toxic. As soon as you see it in a thread you know it’s someone pandering to outrage culture.

This is actually what keeps me from wanting to do M+ which makes me feel so stuck in my character progression. (because pvp is my end game gameplay of choice)

Half is the environment and the other half is I don’t want to slow anybody down. I was actually invited to do a +6 the other day just because of my ilvl… Like I don’t know what’s going on in M+ I know the environment I don’t want to waste peoples time… so I declined the offer. (I play BM hunter too so I suppose I don’t face the same prejudice but I guess it would support what the OP is saying to a degree)

That being said there is a Good side to the M+ community… I made a thread the couple weeks ago asking for advice on how the trash mob mechanics worked and how important they were… and I got lots of helpful considerate advice.

I think some people are just a-holes they’ve been around since the dawn of time pretty much.

I used to be hard into M+. I then realized it doesn’t matter. It was like a job and not a game. When I do bother to play anymore, I just do what makes me happy in game. Forcing myself to do Mythic+ just because of gear or what ever is for the birds.

i swear i just noticed aviela said “balance druids” too… like… lol, no. it’s an incredibly strong spec and it’s just complex enough coming off bm hunter to not actually put me to sleep.

I play the least meta tank in the game: Guardian druid.
In several months of playtime I can only recall being declined because of my class once.
Maybe you should try playing a more useful role, nobody needs another mdps in M+.

My favorite is people who want you to play fire mage instead of frost, but aren’t doing the planned pulls / abusing combust cooldowns to make it actually perform better.

People are dumb and think their non-discord unorganized pug will go better with an MDI team composition.

That’s a good point actually.

There’s definitely a weird group of meta slaves who think X comp = X gains and all other methods are worthless. Which is silly because they are comparing them to a level of play that they aren’t at simply at that level.

Not because these people aren’t good but because the people who make the meta who push the hardest content are doing it with people they know and can communicate with.

if you’re pugging it? Who are you kidding.

I remember trying to do a heroic warfront of all things and the guy dropped group because one person was 415… the guy was 430 I’m like you just got out of that bracket and you’re gonna raise your nose at people… in a warfront of all things?

Suppose I should say to those toxic peoples… If you want the best comp and best results… why aren’t you doing that content with your guild? or a community? why you got to belittle people looking for groups who may not have a guild that want to do this content?

I feel you on this one. I want to PvP on my shaman because random BGs add to the longevity of this game for me, and I don’t want feel compelled to do M+ on her in order to not feel like dead-weight in BGs. And she’s a resto shaman, so that doesn’t help matters in terms of me feeling inadequate for M+ content. I’ve been running it recently, and it has its fun moments, but I’d rather not if I didn’t have to.

Sorry. I am back.

Got into a +15 pretty fast as a non meta dps and completed it in time.

Resto Druid has been great since TBC. Blizzard never found a way to balance hots

Not the norm though. Stop pretending it is

Neither is " I can’t get into a group at all as a dps shaman" or “every group I get into asks if I am enhance then declines me”.

While I get what you are saying, I’m going to disagree with the second bit here. The people declining you for that +2, +5, +10 or +15 aren’t key pushers. I know quite a few folks who push +18-20’s and they are among the most laid back folks I’ve encountered. They get hyped up during runs and all hell breaks loose on their Discord but they are no where near toxic or elitist.

Of course, I also know you said “most”. But again, the people doing low-mid keys trying to recreate MDI comps aren’t key pushers. The vast majority are just wannabees or going after their “one run and done for the weekly chest”

There is a trickle down effect, sure. But honestly, the majority of players could care less about io. Half the time it’s not your class or io that gets you declined anyway, its that 440 item level trying to sign up for a +12. Or that 398 dude signing up for a +5.

Besides, anyone who actually cares about pushing keys almost always has a set group. They aren’t the ones declining the vast majority of time, because they don’t list.

Though it’s all moot to me. Pugs scare the crap out of me so I just run everything with the guild(that paired with BFA dungeons as a whole being a ton more unforgiving and anti fun than Legion’s). So, I run with guildies. And truthfully, we struggle a fair bit on 12’s and 13’s. Our comp isn’t great, but we make it work.

I’ll give you an upvote just for this comment though. Legion dungeons were insanely fun. I’d pug those nonstop. Outside of Maw of Souls, god I hated that one. But BFA dungeons…ugh. I enjoy Temple of Sethralis and Underrot, Freehold a teeny bit. But everything else is such a drag to me.

YOU CAN’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO! What? I’m turning red? Psh, it’s nothing… I’m fine… <3
