Dropping it down to at least +8 and up wouldnt hurt imo
618 ilvl tank here, and I get the frustration, I really do, running constant 9s for a chance at 12 crests when more often than not its gonna be 5 really can suck but I have gotten as high as a double key level up in a 9 city of threads(one day the damn gloves will drop for me) with a PUG group that probably averaged a 612 ilvl.
You can get all the way to ilvl 619 with just crests from 4-8s, if youâre all the way there and you still cannot clear 9s thatâs not a problem with the M+ system(Which has a TON of problems) thatâs an issue with you or the group youâre running with.
There are nerfs happening to the dungeons this week, there will likely be more over time, not everyone is going to end up with full myth track gear, its only week 3 of the damn season, give it some time, let things settle a bit, youâll get your crests and gear as things get easier and players get more powerful.
Focus on what you CAN upgrade right now/earn some gold to get those high end crafted items when you can, etc etc.
If you wanna be timegated because you want others to play at your pace, so be it. I think itâs a stupid system and not rewarding. Most MMOs donât timegate their players artificially. OSRS comes to mind whoâs player bases are so absurdly strong when comparing to their original numbers. Their growth is outstanding and timegating is not seen anywhere. This is 1 example of a few MMOs that do this

I believe timegating helps the game. It motivates players to get better instead of overwhelming the bosses with moar gear.

Look at how many carved and weathered crests we have. Itâs a conscious choice not to extend that to runed and gilded.

The âaverage playerâ stops around KSM, not KSH. Why are you trying to give everyone Mythic Raid equivalent gear?
I donât think its a matter of âwelfareâ or âgit gudâ, its that the squish led to only one keystone level giving high end crests before another affix, which is a huge wall for most players.
I recently tried to level an alt and it just feels âoffâ progression wise. You hit a strange wall that I really donât think they intended.
My suggestion to Blizzard would be: Give 5 gilded crests for a timed 7 or 8, a slower drip of high end reward to even out the squished curve from the changes.
You may have misread. Iâm asking for crests to fully upgrade hero gear at 7+. Mythic gear is still reserved for raids and M10 vault.
A better question is why does hero and mythic gear share crests? I would think this is to help close the gap between hero/mythic gear thresholds but there appears to be a deadband where neither is accomplished which is why I made the thread.
my guy 619 is max before gilded crests if everyone had 619 they could crush mythic + and heroic raid never did I say 619 was the max possible in game

A different group of people will find a wall at seven.
Champion and hero gear share crests.
Veteran and champion gear share crests.
Thatâs part of the design, to be able to raise a tracks item level a bit using crests from harder content.
Itâs not some unique aspect of hero gear.
What for? Thereâs a difference between lfr and M10s.
Iâm an ex-hardcore raider, prob did more in this game then most people whinning on these forums.
The amount of effort put into anything cutting edge is made irrelevant in a patch, the whole blizzard system is faulty since itâs core.
Just keeping things âedgyâ for a long time doesnât make it good content. If everything was 1 single difficulty, the game wouldnât have the player count it does now.
Making an 8 give mythic gear in the vault is as relevant as keeping delves rewarding from Blizzard point of view. The more i can keep up with people into doing things even in a medium/mild way, i will want to keep doing things with people.
Any exponential growth of difficulty and super hard rewards make sense, but that position is long gone from the company, look at how easy it is to do so many things that were ridiculously harder back then.
We disagree on how things should roll, but it doesnât matter, weâll see how blizzard caves to the community woes come S02.

Because the very basis of higher difficulty is to exclude people.
So why not include everyone?
If not enough people are included, thatâs a fair point, but then we can compare completion rates over time.
Itâs always going to be too hard for some people as long as itâs possible to fail.
Lowering mythic gear to an 8 leaves out people who find a 7 just right and an 8 too hard. etc.
Why lower it to an 8 and not more? Some people do want mythic gear accessible at a 7, then others six. some even five.
