Sounds like Timewalking may be a thing your wife would be into, but of course, they let the feature rot and only a few instances are available, and it rotates slowly.
My boyfriend is having similar issues, he really likes the stories of certain expansions, but going back and doing them at max level isn’t fun. There’s no difficulty or engagement, and going back and doing the dungeons/raids at max level is a joke to the point you don’t get to see things unless you sit there and don’t attack bosses.
The majority of content in this game has become more than irrelevant, and that’s a very bad thing in an RPG.
But no, you’ll get the sweaty neckbeards who say they absolutely have to be able to one shot old content cuz reasons and they need to feel superior and like they “progress”…
Meanwhile, those of us that haven’t experienced the old content are forced to roll alts to get to do it in a meaningful way. It’s a trash model.
As also a new player (9 months still counts as new right?), this is a big thing. I wish I could get the story. I can’t. I have no idea what is happening.
Agreed. I want dev time spent on current content, not wasting time retuning old content. If you want to be competitive, SL is where you need to be right now.
The leveling experience is never going to matter again.
The ship has sailed.
The bulk of the playerbase to an extreme majority is doing end-game max level content.
Expanding Timewalking and Level Scaling content at least means people leveling get to participate in that content with max level players.
Know what’d be fun? Actually being able to do Firelands while leveling because max level player want to do it.
How the fk do you know what the “Extreme majority” is? Are you a dev?
No, then stop spitting around SPECULATION as facts. The facts are you have no idea if its casual players or the hardcore community that prop this game up. But seeing as there’s been a massive exodus of players, I’m going to ASSUME its the casual players such as myself.
Old content made relevant again especially for newer players is most definitely the RIGHT direction to go in to move away from this race to end game mythic dungeon runner lobby game bs that they’ve turned WoW into.
That’d be cool, though I predict the community response will be “If everything rewards the same thing, what’s the most efficient one to do?” (Legion Maw of Souls)
@Blizz, if you make another Infographic I’d like to see dungeon completion count for all dungeons or maybe just like top 10/25
Did you read MINE, stop assuming the “Extreme majority” is doing end-game max level content. You have no idea what the majority is. For all you know, the majority may be players in older content because they can’t stand shadowlands BS, transmog, mount farmers etc. A.K.A casuals who have zero interest in BiS crap.
Stop assuming and passing it off as statement of facts. Additionally, you have no idea what “ship has sailed”, that they devoted SOME resources to redo the leveling experience shows they are at least WILLING to redesign entire systems.
WoW absolutely needs level scaling to make older content relevant again. Period end of story. Right now only 5% of the game is relevant and its a garbage gameplay model.
GD in a nutshell. I’m on your side, but apparently, you can’t read.
“boo hoo somebody said the thing I personally only do isn’t what everybody else in this game according to every metric statistic across several websites tracking content completion and participation isn’t actually popular”
Not everybody just levels alts, sweetie.
End game content is LFR, random battlegrounds, world quests, torghast, running old raids solo, ect ect.
Stop having a meltdown because somebody said “end game”.
That ain’t “elitism”. Max level characters exist, and it’s more than 5% of the playerbase.
I don’t care who’s side you’re on, the point of my entire original response to you was to stop passing off assumptions as facts. Which I 100% stand by.
For all you know, the majority is not playing SL content but rather in the older content.
Anyone choosing to skip new content for old because it saves them a few minutes on a run isn’t really as concerned with new content as they pretend to be.
That said, you could still avoid the problem by reducing item level by a hair in old content… a very small difference, like 2 or 3 item levels, could keep the whiners out of the content… but it would still be good enough to provide an alternate progression path for those that wanted to do it.
Adding old raids could be an interesting way for veteran players to help new players level.
But as far as leveling I’m not looking for it to matter like it did back in Vanilla.
I would just like it to be a bit more coherent. Right now skills are all over the place and lots of classes feel like trash to level.
Are you a dev?
Are you a community leader?
Are you a premade leader?
My assumptions are grounded in fact, and you can look up said facts by looking at WoWprogress, Wargraphs, WoWranks, and Warcraft Realms. I’m not handholding you for it, especially when it’s more of a headache to get these stats since WoWtrack died. (They had a much better system for tracking causal populations.)
It’s also common sense; the majority of players in a 15+ year old MMORPG are going to be doing content at max level, especially one where they funnel us to it for actual content.
I’m not your typical GD poster that talks out my rear.
I spend the majority of my time deeply invest with my server - mostly casual - community, compiling feedback and comparing it against dev interviews. But nobody cares, especially you.
But please, keep going on about how somebody who is literally parroting the same things that are continually said on the forums aren’t “speaking for everybody” when you’re backpeddling about your own attitude problems.
Stuff like this is why GD isn’t typically used for actual feedback.
Oh trust me, they’re never going to make it “matter” again.
Making it matter is pretty much down to the individual.
The way the skills are being tossed out sucks, but it’s mostly just to get people to max as quickly as possible because - before I upset more people - everybody is max level already unless they’re a new player, which is in the minority.
All classes 100% need to have access to their interrupts and core utility though sub level 20. Tanking on a prot warrior last expansion was a headache until I got thunderclap. No idea how bad it is now.
