My character is faction transferring and I didn't start one

For some reason, by paladin (who I switched to Alliance last week) is now being transferred back to Horde, even though I didn’t request or start a transfer. My character is locked and I can’t log in.

We’re seeing a few such reports on this. We’ve already let folks know so it can be looked into.

Kind of sucks that my character is locked on the day of the new tier release. I’ve put in a ticket, but I don’t have much hope that the ticket will be looked at any time soon.

Tickets are averaging hours day at most depending on what needs to be done.

You seem to be locked into the character that Faction Changed, Izikial. I assume the issue cleared up for you?

From what I can see, Immane, you appear to have initiated a refund on this account and looking at the timeline it does appear to have been on a faction change that you used.

  1. Purchased 2 Faction Changes.
  2. Initiated Faction Change on Paladin.
  3. Requested Refund for Faction Changes.
  4. Purchased 1 Faction Change.

Were you playing on that character after the refund was granted? It seems likely that the refund request happened on the one that was used, which would have locked that character.

A ticket is definitely the way to go here so we can figure out what may have happened.

No, the order was:

  1. Purchased 1 faction change.
  2. Requested a refund
  3. Received refund
  4. Purchsed new token
  5. Transferred character
  6. Character is transferred back and there is a transfer token in my account.

The problem now is that my character is locked and the transfer isn’t completing. Possibly because I had mail and was in a guild when the system initiated the transfer. I don’t mind re-transferring with the token that is now in my account, but my character needs to be unlocked.

Weird, the initiation date and time for the Paladin’s faction change appears to be 5/2 22:31 UTC. The original purchase was 5/1 15:41 UTC with the refund request going in 5/4 13:53 UTC and the follow up purchase being 5/4 18:21 UTC.

Definitely sounds like some wires were crossed. Please keep your ticket open. A Game Master will take a look as soon as they can.

There’s some issue with the logs. I did try to transfer before 5/4, but the transfer failed, so I decided to wait a few days until after the refund. I checked through the guild logs and my chat logs, and I did the transfer on 5/4 and was reinvited into the guild. Perhaps you can check again and see when the transfer was completed?

Just for clarification, because this may cause confusion, it would be a Faction Change. Transfers move the character between realms. Faction Changes move the character between factions.

I’m not seeing a failure here. As far as I can see the faction change completed on 5/2. I do see the refund on 5/4 though, that wasn’t showing up immediately on that transaction.

This may be another issue then, a Game Master will take a look when they reply to your ticket.

There was that hiccup last week too, that may have played some part in it. There was a couple threads where peoples’ transfers and faction changes were hanging up. So it may not have been a true failure, just that it was hung up and OP initiated the refund before it had time to fully process through?

Then there is indeed some problem because it failed multiple times. I would put in the transfer request, and it would just… stop… and my character would be back, and the token was in my account. I assumed it was because of the new patch and the huge influx of faction changes.

I’d be happy to send you screen captures demonstrating this, unless you think I’d waste my time photoshopping images for something like this.

It isn’t necessary. There isn’t anything I can do here nor does it really matter if it failed or not. The entire matter needs to be looked at by a Game Master in response to your ticket.
