What gatekeepers?
The only thing they can do is not invite you to their group. That doesnt stop you from making your own group. That doesnt stop you from entering the dungeon.
So in reality, the only one gatekeeping you is yourself…

The tool would solve nothing they still wouldnt que.
The tank shortage will not improve until people treat tanks better.
Most people I know only tank for guild/friends. It’s safer and we all jump at the offer.
Time to do it yourself or befriend one.
its funny because i really thought this would be the case with all the DKs (me included) and Paladins being created.
Yet most people are still unwilling to do the role.
Too much pressure.
My dk will exist purely for farming heroics for enchanting mats as a tank.
Same as my holy paladin. My druid will be boomkin but will likely have a dual spec resto as the gear will work.
Be the change you want to see.
I tank on a few different alts and this is my experience. Dps that either don’t understand how the threat system works or doesn’t care. Dps pulling mobs while I’m waiting for the healer to drink. Rarely do I get a healer that can’t keep up but it does happen. Dps yelling to go faster pulling more things while going absolute ham not waiting for threat then dieing blaming it on me. So in summary you as the tank finish the run gut wrenched with new ulcers from spending the last 20-30 mins performing miracles like your Jesus trying to save everyone and keep the run going.
Why would anyone want to tank for the pug population?
Just rerole tank for leveling since you’re a warrior and tanks out dps most dps classes while leveling anyway.
That’s why rdf was added in the last patch, when mayoriy of players was on max lvl content, and old world leveling was dead…
That tool could fit better later… Not now… Expansion have just launched, no need to rush it even more
I can live with this, but I think it needs to be added with Ulduar instead of ICC. There aren’t any new players joining now compared to back then.
Lack of tanks has nothing to do with RDF or even this expansion. It was a problem in classic and TBC. The problem is there is not enough incentive to play one. You have most of the pressure of leading a dungeon, receive all the criticism if there are issues and just end up soaking up damage. Fewer players enjoy this responsibility and role than other roles.
We have less than a half of players original wotlk had, so maybe whit numbers in mind they should analize adding it early on ulduar… But time needs to flow… At Least tier 1 raid…nit right now…
I’ve had similar situations like this. Healer can’t keep up/keep me up and I’m the one to blame for. Got asked if I’ve tanked before (facepalm).
Unironically what I’m always looking for/waiting on is a healer.
Ive really noticed this issue in the past two days.
Will only get worse.
Because the roll is bad designed… Tanking is boring… Every tank spec is… Is the way the tank rol is made in wow…
Healer by the other hand its fun… Lots of different classes and ways to heal/discshield…
Tank is just plane boring…
Srsly, like give me 2 seconds to build threat and stop pulling ahead of me.
But speed run… If you cant hold agro with me pulling ahead of you then you suck as a tank…
Isnt that how it goes?
U need to have an eye on your healers mana… Don’t pull if he’s 10%… And yes it’s a cooperative job… As he’s constantly watching your HP why can’t take a look at his mana before pulling…
Tanks love it when a pyroblast goes past them when they’re running in. At least that’s how I’ve heard it from other mages.
With you? Dps just dps, that’s it, tank pulls as far as he and the healer can, you as dps can’t choose that… Stay there and do your job
