Multiboxing is out of control

Are you nuts!?

I recall back in MoP trying to level up my herbalist and having players who had capped and earned flight zooming down and grabbing the node as I tried to ride up to it. They were single tap then and it was insanely difficult and frustrating to collect enough materials to improve your gathering. Plus, the zones now are getting smaller all the time which would make it even more difficult.

That’s one of those “throwing out the baby with the bathwater” solutions. Make life miserable for everyone just to make it bad for a select few. No thanks.

There is a card game called Cheat. The idea is to deliberately cheat your fellow players by telling them you have a certain card when you don’t (ie lying) or alternatively telling the truth and tricking them into calling you out. So the game is set around lying your face off. Does that count? :upside_down_face:

You mean attempting to play by the established rules of the game? like when you tell someone what the rules are, these are included. those are the rules.

Yes I know, I was making a small joke. Obviously it doesn’t fit…though it is a fun game…

Hehe, that’s what gnomes do!

Ok. I looked.

The burger maker is fully automated. It performs a sequence of pre-programed tasks and has no need of anyone to order, oversee or even be present - just like a bot in WoW.

A vending machine also performs a sequence of pre-programmed tasks without the need for human oversight. Funnily enough this might have something to do with why they are constructed - to automate tasks and not require continual input or supervision.

So how does this relate to characters which will not do a single thing without a player at the keyboard inputting a command?

I like seeing 10 characters played by the same person.

It’s satisfying.

It’s extremely satisfying to watch and, oh-so-very annoying to encounter while farming.

Well, I can only imagine but I never have that issue since I am playing at 3AM in the morning mostly.

I see mulit boxers at least once a day.

You’re very lucky.
I wish I could see them that often.

/follow has been in the game for a looong time.

Lead has primary control, others /follow. The program does not move the characters that /follow, unless (like the lead) a keystroke is pressed to perform an action. While some parts of what the software does IS automation, it’s at a level the devs are good with.

I’m not sure what you’re doing (botter), but I control all of my toons (unless they are just /following).

And I been playing since legion and I already ran out of finger to count how many multiboxers I have seen in bfa.

Deep divide  It’s the same people just spamming the forum with these multiboxing threads, over, and over. The Troll mage that has been posting in this thread just spammed another thread, and just changed the title of it from multiboxing to 9 toon multibotter lol. Reminds me of that Draenei mage that used to spam this forum with LFR threads lol.

I’m guessing the people that are denying it’s a problem are also posting in similar threads.

Ugh. Such a mess.

Like a few others he intentionally misrepresents it in the hopes more people will take the lazy path and acknowledge what he’s saying as true.

What his example actually proved is that he’s wrong and anyone with any experience in automation / manufacturing would understand that yes, even a toaster makes decisions on its own. It has to in order for the house to not burn down.

Of course. But again it’s much like those spammed LFR threads over the last several years. It’s the same arguments being spewed over, and over again. Nothing new is brought to the table. Same ole copy pasted crap arguments that everyone on both sides has seen (Dr Evil voice) a billion, gazillion times

This is bizarre and I don’t buy it. You can only gather from a node 10 times before it disappears. There’d be zero benefit to 26 boxing. Even the most extreme multiboxing teams never go beyond ten characters and most are 5-8 due to PC limitations and/or not wanting a second account. If this person had 26 characters it would mean that they would need to get pathfinder on FOUR separate acounts since you can only have 8 licenses per account.

If the chances are that multiboxers are hacked accounts, then that’s all you can do is report it.

Here is a good analogy of a multi-boxer;

There was still human effort involved with every step, but just made easier!

If she had a button for a program that would begin to write these all out for her while she walks out of the room, then it would have been automation. https://youtu.be/zr3JZYXoIVg?t=30
