More Demon Hunter Races Please

Man you know this was totally written by an intern told to type up a description for a text box. Maybe it was skimmed over by someone higher up looking for obvious contradictions, but then out it went in a patch and then got forgotten forever.

Yeah I may be spit-balling here but I always find it a little excessive when people take random paragraphs of description so seriously as though it’s bible or something.

Fel is arcane magic corrupted by demonic blood.

Oh now that the gloves are off that’s easy: “A fragment of Sargeras’ sword (or any other demonic artifact) was recovered and siphoned for its seemingly endless fel energies”

Fel is, as far as the Chronicles update is concerned, a cosmic force. It is juiced up arcane, sure, but there are entire fel-corrupted planets floating out in the void even now. It’s an aspect of ‘Disorder’ and it’ll be represented again one way or another.

Unless the source material is referred to, writing anything new is breaking continuity. Again, this is how we end up with the debacle that is WoW today.

It is extremely difficult to write future lore and expansions if it is as spaghetti coded as the core that drives the engine for the game. Does this make sense?

You’re not wrong, but continuing with lazy design and development practices just because it has been done in the past isn’t excusable. If we are going to realistically delve in to the possibility of dh’s race options being expanded, let’s be proactive, even if it is for entertainment and discussion purposes only.

Well I’m glad to know that if you were writing a story, or particularly WoW’s story, it would be good, or at least better than WoW’s. Unfortunately you’re not, and incompetent people are in charge of WoW’s story instead.

Now we’re talking!

Orc and draenei dh with fel orc and eredar skins.

That’s actually a good idea on how to remove that dead plot device from the map.

Uh no. See, this is the problem with wanting a logical concept. WoW lore is such a total mess that there are multiple conflicting answers.

In one of the more recent books, fel was created where the light and void touched, and the sparks that emerged was the fel.

You’re not wrong.

Yeah because that makes sense… it sounded cool when someone blurted it out at a brain-storming session, so they went with it for at least one descriptive paragraph.

I’ve just got 17 years vested in this game, many more in WC before that. It’s not my life in that I live, breath, and simp WoW. But I have very much enjoyed delving into lore from the moment I began playing WC and then WoW. Seeing things added to the game following the cool rule MO leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I also enjoy hearing other people’s ideas and perspectives on game ideas.

And yes I have recently submitted my resume through an internal posting via a friend on the inside.

Sounds like a familiar story.

As much as I would love to see more Demon Hunter races… I am not sure how it will be done, or could be done at this point. The whole purpose of the Demon Hunter is to hunt demons and with the destruction of the Legion and with Illidan’s departure… what it takes to make one and the purpose isn’t there. There is no reason for any other races to do this. The Demon Hunters we had were created long ago, they seem new but in the lore they are not.

I agree, but for the sake of the discussion it is worth exploring.

Yeah I don’t get behind that whole idea that Illidan made them long ago. When exactly is that? The time between wc3 frozen throne and BC? That doesn’t seem so long ago or so long a time span. And the demons aren’t all gone, so there’s definitely still cause for demon hunters.

The official answer to when:

During the years Illidan was in Outland, many elves sought him out because they had lost everything to the Burning Legion and wanted to devote themselves to its destruction.[5] Some blood elf demon hunters were instead sent to Illidan by Kael’thas Sunstrider.[6]

Obviously a retcon of course.

Yeah

And which elves lost everything to the burning legion? Even ever? Wasn’t it the scourge that took everything from them?

Oh there was also what’s her face, Baroness Ravencrest.
