Current character is level 17 on the Quest - Continue Your Training: Master Kistane and also Practice Makes Perfect: Master Cheng.
They do not scale to the correct level when you receive the quests. They show up as red level 20 and I’m level 17. Damage doesn’t scale as it should be and 3 shots you.
Its the same for my lvl 27. Hopped on this morning, to quickly ding it to 28 and trying that quest now is impossible. The master is the one that deals with the spinning crane kick and i interrupt it, but all other moves are hitting as just as hard. I get down to 9% health and heal myself, but it stops the training before i get to 1%.
I’ve completed this quest a lot while slowly leveling my Monk pre-patch, but I don’t remember my health going straight down after 3-4 moves while my damage does a quarter of her health.
I have run into the same issue with the quest “Continue Your Training: Master Kistuane” . The damage scaling seems to be very off and is hitting for very large amounts of damage. I am level 26 and the damage output greatly exceeds the healing I can do to myself in the same time, so I have to resort to trying to out dps the character with the use of a stun and parrying with Fist of Fury. This does not even come close to be able to keep up with the damage receiving. In its current state, not sure if you can complete this step.
Yes! I’m trying to do the Master Kistane and and Master Cheng quest and they are almost impossible to do.
I tried at lvl 10 and couldn’t, now I’m 20 and it’s still too hard. I thought that I was missing a something. Thanks for confirming I’m not alone in this.
Thanks I too having difficulty, this time it was Hsu (he poisons you, simply detox) but his regular hits kill me so fast I failed 10 in a row. Couple of times I got close but that’s with full cooldowns and whatnot. The trainers are hitting too hard (I’m in Brewmaster too btw should be able to take a hit or two lol)
I should note that prior to the patch I was doing these every play to get the enlightenment buff, with no difficulty.
A little late to the party but it’s still happening. Leveling a fresh monk, Cheng and Kistane were [only] doable by using Touch of Death right away since their health pool were small compared to mine, but Yoon 3 shot me within seconds.
Still a thing…and still a thing that the timing on must interrupt items requires mistweavers to spec swap. This is annoying for me, but it would be enraging game quitting for me if I were new. I have quit other games for less egregiously bad design issues
Still getting even before she starts spinning. Can’t get Kharma until level 29 and I’m doubting it will work. Truly messed up having to wait so long to complete a class quest and wondering if it’s even possible to do so.
Reported this issue and got the standard response that it’s working as expected. I responded to each of their justifications and got the same response each time. I even showed that I could start a character that ran through cataclysm instead of legion and which was able to cakewalk the exact same quests – still they say, it’s working like it’s supposed to. The following was my feedback to them. As is, I don’t plan on following through with these quests for my legion bound monk.
You said to post on the bug report forum. There are several bug reported posts complaining about this very issue. Sometimes people post that they are doable, but most just complain it’s too difficult. Again, the time frame seems to revolve around Legion.
There are more. There’s a running theme here. While some are able to complete the quest after multiple tries, many struggle through multiple attempts before giving up. All of these complaints are from 2020 to 2021, about the time Shadowlands hit, though some claim this complaint has been going on since the creation of monks. Perhaps these trials were themselves a trial experience by Blizzard to see if they wanted to expand them to the other classes and seeing how players responded to them, decided not to.
I get the feeling that Blizzard set these up for dedicated players who have a good sense of timing and want to get to know their characters well enough to participate with the highest level of dungeon raiders. Yet, I doubt the majority of players fall into that rank and therefore many players are bound to end up dissatisfied with these side quests, perhaps ignoring them completely. I fall into that latter category. I enjoy playing the monk class but I don’t want to know the timing for my skills that well.
Being stubborn I created a new monk and ran him through legion and it was much easier. The character I was having trouble with has been around since pre shadowlands so perhaps there is something there.
Continue Your Training: Master Yoon is impossible as of late Shadowlands, with my level 19 heirloomed monk. Touch of Death is never available, even with max health trinket pre-buff, and he hits like a truck. Even me stunning him and trying to heal up or DPS him some more, is an exercise in futility. Revolting.
