((I hope it is okay I post this here. I have been on Cenarion Circle server since I started playing WoW back in vanilla. While I have thoughts that Blizzard should merge the CC/SOE servers with MG/WRA, I am trying to recruit through other servers for more RP on our server. There are maybe 20 of us overall, I would imagine, that RP on our server.

The Modas il Toralar is possibly the oldest guild on Cenarion Circle that is still somewhat active. It has been around since the time of vanilla, and has gone in and out of bouts of activity, mostly due to the server population and myself going AFK.

The Modas is an evil-chaotic guild, that lives by a motto of:
Order through atrocity. Peace through fear. Faith in the Modas il Toralar.

It is a hierarchal guild, with Armaya Shade currently leading. We do unethical things and are looking for unethical characters and the sort to come join us. While Alliance can now join Modas, there is often mature content, so please do be aware of that possibility. [Notation: Even though a character might not like humans, or elves, etc, that doesn’t mean they share the sentiment in real life. ]

I am hoping to start a biweekly RP event, bringing back our long “Black Hand Society” in the coming week or so.

With guilds being cross-server, I hope that this guild may bring in new people from other RP Servers.

A simple statement, for those who knew of the chaos that Modas had been responsible for in years past, the fear that the organization had instilled in many throughout Azeroth. The time for Modas to return was now.

“Unethical is one thing. While I can appreciate your honesty in admitting there may be issues for some, there is no place for racism in Azeroth. Especially from the horde, who, might I remind you, don’t have chairs.”

Takes the last few bites of his apple then chucks it at the unsavory invaders.

Dubious morals when done right in roleplay can add a lot of fun to a community. And by done right, I mean communication and consent are wielded often. Looking forward to you folks adding that flavor to WrA’s pot.

Also, my guild transferred here in Shadowlands from a defunct RP server as well. Glad to see you lot have interest in WrA and hope to see you around soon.

Wow there’s a name I haven’t heard in YEARS! I used to play on CC waaaay back and I remember that guild well (specifically, the poisoning of the Mulgore Well plot, and some rp involving the Ashnevale peace walks I think ).

:slight_smile: nice to see you’re still around. I only hop on a few times a year now to play casually but nothing has ever come close to the old days of CC when the server was active but tight knit.

I normally stay quiet and keep to myself. Sometimes I feel the need to speak up. Now is one of those times.

RP’g “Dubious morals” is very different from warning players on a new realm -that you want to RP with- that there might be racism involved.

Why would anybody want to RP racism?

Perhaps I should simply add mature tags. Modas has always been an evil/chaotic guild, and there have been characters in the past that do not like the Alliance, or don’t enjoy the forsaken, or are against trolls, etc.

So if you can not handle mature RP, then Modas would not be for you.

And the actions and thoughts of the character, do not mean the player has the same actions and thoughts. I suppose I should put that warning out there too.

When I initially read the OP, I read the IC racism part as the guild being majority Horde for a time and now with it accepting Alliance characters, you’ll bump into some curmudgeonly Horde jerkface from time to time but their initial biases would be just that — initial, towards consenting members only, and part of crafting a joint story.

I may have initially assumed wrong, so now I have to ask directly: Is IC racism a common theme in Modas il Toralar? Is it also publicly wielded or between private, consenting parties? What is the scope of it in the guild and how much would it affect the gameplay and enjoyment of those around you?

I have to come to their defense a bit here. I knew this guild well years ago. They have always been a bad guy guild, but OOC-wise their members are NOT racist or sexist or anything else that I ever saw or remember. Sure, it’s been a hot minute, but CC was a -very- tight knit server and probably still is considering how small the population, and they’d have been black listed many many years ago if that were the case.

It’s OK to RP bad guys being bad and mean and yes, even racist, so long as a) all parties understand and consent to the RP and realize it’s not OOC, with that line being strictly enforced and b) so long as boundaries are respected.

I used to be in a few big RP guilds on CC in ye olden days and we never had anything but “good” (well, y’know, for them being bad guys) encounters with Modas. For what it’s worth.

It’s called “writing fiction” and a good RPer knows how to write a character without pushing a narrative in any OOC manner.

These are pretendy-time races. They don’t actually exist. You can’t actually be “racist” against an orc IRL anyway, because orcs aren’t real and no systemic oppression of orcs can occur. Also, unlike IRL, in a video game you can just choose to block that person if you don’t like their RP or the themes they present, even if only on an IC-level. Now, if that player begins insulting YOU, the player, for choosing to play an orc, then yes, that person is a jerk and you’d be well in your rights to call them out for their weird behavior.

But that’s not what’s happened with this guild at all in any experience I had with them, albeit years ago.

Do you get upset at books and shows that portray racism in an antagonistic way, too?

Thank you. Yes. We are good people. OOCly we do not condemn or promote racism, anti-LGBTQI+, things of that nature. Actually, back in the day, most of our leadership was LGBTQI+ if I remember correctly. We pretty much say to be nice and be a decent human being. But ICly, we have some very bad people. So the mature tags are necessary.

With that being said, I appreciate the few people who have reached out to me.

After attending the Macabre Market on Sunday, I have put some deep thought and have decided to pause the recruitment on Modas and seek other guild and RP options on WRA.

Modas has had a great run, but I think it’s time to realize that CC simply can not regrow. We go through the same period every expansion. People join at the new expansion, then quit months later. With CC’s roleplayer population as small as it is, even with a few interested parties from WRA and MG, I do not believe it to be viable to keep the guild going.

I will make sure it is preserved for our server history.

I apologize if the content of this post offended anyone. I promise I am not a villian IRL, I just like to RP them and write fictional stories about them.

None taken. I initially assumed since you all had been around a while and I heard good things that you wielded IC racism as one should: With consenting parties to add the impetus to progress the story.

People get understandably prickly because villains of any type are rarely, if ever, played well and so most experiences are negative. That said, if you guys are the real deal and know how to do it right, I really hope you consider WrA. I know what it’s like to pick up and move from a tight-knit server (my guild was on Earthen Ring till 2021) to WrA-A. It’s a bit like starting over because the community and faces are different, but it’s also picking up where you left off.

WrA-H is strong and WrA-A has been steadily growing for some months now. You’ll find that WrA in general is very cross-faction roleplay oriented, which adds even more possibilities to stories. Both are also a smaller neighborhood than MG-A and therefore tends to have better communication between parties (when we put in the work) and more open roleplay opportunities to take.

Also, if you haven’t already, check out the Wyrmrest Community Project Discord (https://discord.gg/7PY25buzpK). It’s 1600+ members strong and its mission is to help network WrA roleplayers to find guilds, spread the word on events, and collaborate on roleplay projects. We also have one other CC guild that’s recently popped in there with potential interest in transferring, so hope to see you both in the future.
