"MMO" gaming mouses for WoW don't seem to last? (hardware-nerds get in here)

Me too lol. My trinity naga is amazing never had any issues with it and had it for a long while.

My black widow keyboard I got back in 2016, there’s no ware or tear on the keys, it’s like perfect condition. And yes I clean it out regularly  it’s been great! There is the razor tax now, but their stuff seems to last the most.

Razer naga trinity here. It’s at least a few years old, i forget when i bought it. Middle mouse button still doing fine. The front side buttons are acting a little flaky though, e.g. if I press one then an adjacent one may also activate, but not all the time.

My Logitech MMO mouse worked great for a long time, only replaced it because I wanted to try the Corsair Scimitar. I’ve had the Scimitar for a few years now and it’s mostly been good, though I did have to take it apart once to lube a gear somewhere because the wheel had started acting crazy.

I have a logitech 604? it has 6 buttons on the left side. It’s pretty great.

I recently bought another mouse, one with 8 buttons on the side but can’t get into it. It’s too light.

BUT! my favorite tool for gaming is my G-13. I can’t begin to tell y’all how much money I have spent on this device over the years. Music is my first and most expensive hobby, by a long shot. WoW is easily a distant second.

Mine has a small sticker on the bottom with the manufacture year, you could check there

I just had to replace my mouse for the first time in 10 years or so. It was a no-name “came with the computer” mouse from several systems ago that seemed flimsy at the time but apparently wasn’t.

Cosair Ironclaw wired.

For MMO gaming mice I can recommend corsair scimitar. I’ve had mine about 10 years now and it’s still going strong. Very occasional double click, and a little cosmetic wear and tear, but that’s to be given after a decade. For comparison the mouse I had before this, a razer naga, lasted one year before the left click gave out entirely.

I think the problem is the general decay of nearly everything today. I bought the first Razer Naga that came out. That thing was bullet proof it lasted me until 2018 when it finally gave up the ghost, I replaced it with another Naga that quit working after a year and a half. I have yet to have peripherals last me more than 3 years now.

Everything is just made of increasingly less durable materials and is designed to fail and be replaced in 1-3 years max.

I don’t understand what you mean. Please provide photographic evidence of both visual location of alleged button and internal schematics of the entire mouse.

I bought my naga razer in 2012 and it works fine to this day, the only issue it has is one of the lights doesn’t light up anymore. I have dropped it it, tossed it spilled drinks on it and its still trucking.

Sorry, maybe the post was vague

“middle” button in the context of these MMO/multi-button gaming mouses means the scroll wheel (…which also acts as a “button” and controls the zoom in/zoom out functions)

There’s a left-click button and a right-click button, and sandwiched in between the two is usually located the scroll wheel (aka the “middle” button)

i use the scroll-button (“middle” button) quite heavily for character movement, so I’m guessing it just wears out mechanically since my finger is constantly pushing down on it

Anything made by Steelseries is the cheapest plastic imaginable and will wear out in about 6 months. I stick with Logitech myself. G903, been going strong for years.

I have had the same MMO mouse for 6 years with no issues.

I had the naga trinity from 2019-2023. Got about 4 years, 10 months of service out of it before the side button, number 5 gave out. Everything else about it still works perfectly.

I replaced it with the wired naga classic, because i never changed the sideplates

Well that’s interesting to hear  earlier in the thread/up there other posters seemed to speak highly of SteelSeries

Maybe the older ones were built to last and they started cheaping out more recently? Idk

I’ve had this exact issue! I’m on my fifth corsair scimitar pro

This inquiry led me to pull up my Amazon order history and see when I bought my Razer Naga’s and how long they lasted.

First one bought in June, 2010. I recall it started having some issues with the scroll wheel, which led to number two.

(I’d also note that I used that first mouse a LOT as I was experiencing lots of health issues and was unable to work, so my play time was way higher than probably 90% of people. The poor mouse had a lot of hard miles on it.)

Second one bought in September, 2014. So the first one went 4+ years.

Third one bought in September 2023, and was a trinity. So the second one went 9 years.

Buying the third one was not due to a hardware failure situation of the second Naga. Rather, it was driven by getting a new computer with Win11 on it.

Both my second Naga and Logitech G13 gamepad had driver issues with Win11 (didn’t help the G13 was long ago discontinued, too). So I went with the Naga Trinity, which solved the driver situation.

I replaced the G13 (which was my second G13, btw, first one lasted 7 years) with the Razer Tartarus V2, because it was the most similar gamepad to the G13. It’s worked well so far and I adjusted to it from the G13 more quickly than I expected.

/moo :cow:

I had my old school mmo naga for a long time

I see. And is this some sort of app you have to download? Or can I find these buttons on my keyboard? Perhaps a purchased peripheral? I am on a fixed income and I would like to experiment with these buttons, but am unable to afford any kind of gaming hardware, such as high impact chairs and cup holders.
