MM Hunters get to KEEP their pets!

You have a lot more faith than I do that pro-pet MM players won’t continue struggling to be competitive and whine to Blizzard about buffing their pets even after Blizzard made it clear that pets are intended to be a drag on their effectiveness. But anything’s possible.

oh i’m sure they will, I just doubt that will be a large enough faction of a sub faction to get blizzards ear. Maybe Thats on the hopeful side but, eh, statistically its most likely.

The changes legitimately let them focus design on pet less being the design moving forward versus pet less being the optional talent and having to juggle both.

Yeah. Which is completely valid.

no i get that, what we’re both saying is that exact thing, and that the general pro-pet population is happy with that being the case, but theirs probably still gonna be a silent contingent complaining that their pet isnt doing enough damage (Which I dont think is gonna be large enough to rock the boat any)

They didn’t really rock the boat to begin with. They just wanted their pocket tank.

Two things:

  1. I added more context as to why, by adding my response to Magnarok as well. Which demonstrates that people treated other abilities like Exorcism the same way - yet it was an ability that easily could be removed and had zero negative impact on the gameplay experience.
  2. The number of people who participate on these forums represent on average roughly 0.022% of the community… and this is not counting the Chinese servers either, since with those I have no idea how to even begin to calculate it.

The fact of the matter is that they added it back not because it was good for the game, class, or specialization… they added it back to ease up on the pointless harassment that went on. One need to remember that these forums have a reputation for making even the most hardcore CS-personnel quit their jobs.

All that has happened is that on paper, folks can play the game the way that they want to. In reality, doing that means closing down doors for potential design space, and creating the justification for keeping some of the most boring and outdated mechanics in the game simply just because “some people at some point somewhere were prepared to make a lot of noise even before they tested any changes.”
So you can be happy about it, but it is exceedingly unlikely for this to be a netpositive change for the game or MM hunters.

That’s an opinion you can have… but to make that consistent, you’d also have to believe no abilities should ever be pruned for neigh on any reason whatsoever.

Which… yeah, ability prunings happen because they are good for the game when done sparingly. So I’m not sure I’d hold that position but you do you if that is your position.

Meanwhile the other classes who have had bugs the entire xpac so far ignored entirely

Typical spoiled hunters

Chances are the forums had very little to do with it other than to help spread the word. Obviously, the backlash was severe and widespread enough that they reversed course. That usually isn’t something they do lightly. Anyone who’s been around long enough knows how stubborn they can be at times.

In this case, the spec needed design work because of how the pets interacts with it on live, for much the same reason that mage double timewarp was removed.

almost certainly friend groups started spreading it in their other friend groups from discords and such, and then it probably started making its way into support tickets instead of being on the forums or the (un)official discord

right, but…you got that didn’t you? The pet is specifically stated to be a suboptimal talent like solo BM is, its clearly intended to be suboptimal so they can focus the spec around being petless, and from what I understand, the pet talent isn’t until deep in the tree meaning that you have to go up petless first to specifically get your pet. So clearly they have full intent to keep it balanced around being petless, and you can just…not take the one sub-optimal talent?

Literally the post right below yours.:roll_eyes::woman_facepalming:t4:

It isn’t. That’s literally what people told us. Including you. We hate BM. But y’all told us to go play a spec we hate.

Now we can continue to play what we like. And Blizz can still work on their “petless not petless” option, as well.

It’s had pets since Vanilla and even Lone Wolf was a choice.

Nothing.

Glad we got that cleared up.

I knew it was coming and wanted to pre-emptively call it out.

I didn’t say no abilities should ever be pruned. I said MM pets shouldn’t be pruned.

Did you quote the right person? I didn’t say anything about rocking boats.

I wouldn’t call it “deep” per se, it’s on the 4th row which IIRC is around level 19 or so.

Well now Lone Wolf (or rather, Better Lone Wolf) is the default. I’ll take it.

Vacations are good use your words embrace dark side.

You might be underestimating the number of pro pet MM hunters that want the ability to be petless in competitive content but keep their pet for world/solo content. Not saying there are not those that want their pet for competitive content, but for what is likley at least 60% of us, give us our pets for non-group content and let us dump them for group content.

Sure, I agree those folks exist. And now they can sacrifice effectiveness/throughput for a safer solo experience if they want that. So long as the petless playstyle is also able to clear any solo challenge, which I’m pretty sure will be the case, then I’m fine.

Probably will to a degree, but i think having a pet to tank or more importantly get adds into position so other cc can actually effect majority of them in massive world pulls like bee and wolf farming will still be better option.
