You didn’t actually win though. If anything you tied.
Right, so some people were claiming “MM hasn’t used a pet for 10 years”, and a large number of people chimed in saying “We use MM with a pet still.” So that first lot of people were in fact just wrong.
Doesn’t really matter at this point. Now we can move on to actual important matters. Like what are we gonna do about Delves? How are they going to fix mythic plus? When are we gonna get follower mode dungeons for every expansion? or the eternal question, why isn’t there a taco stand in storm wind?
I didn’t lose. The changes I have been asking for is happening.
No pet is now the default option and will be what’s balanced.
I never cared about pet removal outside of it being a side effect of fixing the things that matter.
I literally called this happening so I still didn’t lose rofl
Yeah, sorry, thats us pandas. we’ve been stealing all the tacos.
Man I had tacos for lunch today
Incorrect. I have a network of thieves and smugglers and it has been I who has left Stormwind tacoless.
Fixing M+ means so many different things to different people.
But if you ask me, it requires a fundamental re-design of what the mode is.
oh…we just thought we ate them all. I’ll have to go inform the council.
That was by design.
We must track down these thieves. They can only steal the guac
sweet post. not a bad read. glad everything worked out in the end and everyones happy.
(except for that one guy) hahahahhahaha
On paper? Nothing.
In reality? It now becomes another contentious point that is divided along the “We now need to provide support for this playstyle” as well as justifying not removing redundant abilities “just because one person wants it.”
Fear Ward? Can’t remove that anymore.
Excorcism? Nu-uh.
Rogues finally getting rid of stuff like poison durations or snooze and sleep? Not happening.
It sets a precedence to “not rock the boat” … even if the boat could be infinitely better without something redundant weighing it down. Design space, that’s why it is a negative to “keep abilities for the sake of keeping them around.”
For MM, pets are genuinely one such thing.
And I can tell you that nearly 100% of all paladins did at some point use Exorcism, especially if you played a Holy DPS-paladin during Cataclysm.
Still doesn’t change that no one was using it because of why it existed in the first place. The overwhelming majority of people who said that they still used the pet also stated “I use it to tank for me in solo content” or the like. Meaning that they weren’t using it as a pet that was part of their specialization, they were using it as a tanking-dummy and nothing else.
Especially since folks became INSANELY hostile when being pointed out that both Survival and Beastmaster still existed who did the same thing, but played with the pet as well. Rather than it merely being a free tank to bring out and nothing more than that.
I think one of two things have to happen.
Either do difficulty needs to be raised
Or
Rewards need slightly trimmed.
If delves are supposed to be harder progression content it should be not easy trivial content.
oh god here we go again. This is where the thread dies.
It’s like…people enjoy things and don’t want to see them removed or something. This is truly shocking.
Blizzard has rocked the boat far too much over the last decade. It’s time they settle themselves down and listen to the players, which they’ve been okay-ish at doing for the last couple of years.
Exactly. We’re still free from needing to pull the pet out to lust, or seeing it all the time while being archers.
Moreover, the talent node they’re adding UB to is 4 rows in. Meaning new MM hunters will still need to be petless-only for a while, and expose more of them to the idea that being petless is fine.
Yep. Being able to use freedom and roar will be big as well.
It will make them use their toolkit too
I mean, the argument could be made that ya’ll rocked the boat enough to get the changes You wanted, and blizzard still gave you them at 99.9%, and enough players rocked the boat back that blizzard saw that they couldn’t just up and change it completely. Both sides rocked the boat, both sides got pretty much what they wanted.
Clearly enough players Didn’t want this change, or at least, the only part of the change they cared about was to not lose pets (And thus bake in all the stuff the MM-petless wanted and give pets as a suboptimal talent pick). They literally don’t have to support another playstyle with this because they’ve made it clear its suboptimal and its going to stay that way, so anyone who wants to use it “optimally” which isn’t what the pro-pets wanted anyways, will not run that talent in the first place?
the pro-pets have made it very clear they’ll happily go sit in the corner being suboptimal, blizzard can literally just stick it off in a corner and ignore it while balancing the spec however they please.
