MM Hunters get to KEEP their pets!

I’m very happy you’re getting your pets back! And don’t feel too bad, even at 48yo I have little twitches in my hands (from a side effect of particular medication) so I sometimes hit the wrong keys at times. I’m so happy, even as a MM hunter that runs without a pet, that you guys get to choose to play with yours.

It left a bad taste in my mouth as soon as the announced the change, as I know not every MM hunter player of WoW engages in content that requires them to go pet-less, so I’m very pleased they gave the option back to players!

The Eagle is still forced on you if you don’t want a pet, and the Eagle can’t be replaced with a more thematically appropriate pet from your stable either, so this is only a partial win imo.

This whole change has been a mess imo, Blizz attempted to resolve the Heroism pain point, but went about it in such a convoluted way that they created 3 more pain points.

To be honest, if we’re talking heroic dungeons (or any LFG stuff), the dps loss is not gonna matter that much. But in M+ & mythic raiding, yeah, it’s gonna get gatekept, but it should be. Higher keys mean doing everything you can as dps to eek out as much damage as you can, as well as learning all the mechanics you need to deal with. Why would anyone want to not do as much dps as they can for their team? If you want to push into harder gameplay, you have to be willing to put aside your pride & do what’s needed. That’s what being part of a team means.

I have yet to see a single pet enthusiast state that they want to take their pets into PuG groups like heroic dungeons and up or even raids. They don’t even want PvPers upset over using a pet.

Cheers, here’s to another 20 years of Marksman being impossible to balance

That’s not what it was at all.

One of the main reasons was a solo hunter without a pet.
Another was removing the need to balance around a pet that just auto attacks and holds threat.

Hardly anyone is bashing people for wanting to keep their pet or was happy about them losing it…

Like what are you :smoking:?

Which you can have now. You just don’t have the benefit of taking the marksman with a pet from other people.

There should be absolutely no disappointment related to this announcement.

Half of this thread and every other thread related to this change is “you are bad if you use a pet” so I’m pressing X twice, extra hard, and doubting.

nothing has changed except the option to use a pet still exists.

If they can do it I can do it.

I expressed a lot of actual reasoning. But anything else would’ve been repeating my points. So I repeated the most important point. And hey it worked! We got what I wanted.

You’re still here too my friend.

Wasn’t the initial cave to the people whining about needing a pet to use their kit? You seem to acknowledge them caving to “whiners” only on one aspect here. The spec wouldn’t need a rework at all without whining just fyi.

Im just curious who these people are they were looking to happily take pets away.

Tbh this just seems like witch hunting people that were happy with the removal.

Thats like maybe 2 people lol.

Lets stop being disengenuous and pretending like half the posts are mocking people.

It’s significant enough to be noticeable in each and every thread on this topic. I think it’s disingenuous to pretend that “nobody is doing it” tbh.

Either way. This is what we get and I personally think it should be enough for “both sides” of this debate to be satisfied. I’m only seeing one side that isn’t.

Everything we hear says that it is a disadvantage for MM Hunters to select the pet over the benefits of Lone Wolf. The argument is that we should not be allowed to have our pets because the MM Hunter / Pet combo is too weak.

Now is that true or are MM Hunters with their pets too strong?

That’s probably because people that wanted to keep pet, got their way and the other half are stuck with an eagle.

:dracthyr_shrug:

The other half was championing this eagle until they found out that other people wouldn’t be stuck with it.

Bloodlust should have simply been made a baseline ability. I’ve said this before and will continue to say this was the best choice even above what we have now.

That is false.

Literally no one but steve in the back was championing the eagle.
99.9% did not want the eagle. People either wanted 100% no pet or to keep their pets.

I disagree but I get your point and would simply refer to my above statement. Bloodlust baseline for hunters with no talents or pets involved.

A simple solution would have been to flip lonewolf. Make it baseline, and spec into a pet for a cut in hunter survivability and damage and no eagle period.

That would have made almost everyone happy without all the extra drama and bells and whistles.

The eagle is dumb and simply replaces your autonomous pet with a proc/ability use based pet. It is a bad “solution” to this problem.

Yea, its what caused a majority of the tension tbh.
And because of this whole pet debacle, a lot of the good changes haven’t been getting a lot of attention.
