MM “eagle” hunter

I saw it as Quinn from League

Funny enough. I’ve ALWAYS hated this ability lol.
I did my best to avoid it as bm, but some patches… you had to take it for damage…

there’s no reason they can’t just swap to bm when they want to do that. it’s how I play the game now anyway. I mostly run LW MM but when I need a pet I swap to bm because it’s way better with a pet out than marks.

Leaving it as an option just to make some people happy only means a less focused spec design.

As I understand it, it’s a non-controlled pet that reacts to your attacks that allows you to use pet buffs without having to have pets.
They also said they’d have other skins for it, likely via the barber shop as Warlocks currently do.
As someone who doesn’t use pets with MM, I’m looking forward to it!

I don’t understand what this means. What is a “focused” design? Why is it more important than allowing players to continue what they’ve been doing? From what I’ve seen lately, apparently a LOT of MM hunters actually use their pets.

I’m pretty sure Blizz isn’t going to change their plans no matter what is said on these forums (though they might revise the spec yet again if this new thing turns out to be a disaster). I’m already resigned to switching my spec if I want to take my pets out.

But I don’t want to have to completely change my playstyle every time I want to use a pet. Having the option as I do now means I don’t have to put all new spells on my bars, configure my talents, and basically completely change the way I play just to have a little fun with my pet.

Most players are not doing what you are saying. Most people are running LW, it’s why they are making the change. otherwise they have to essentially design the spec in two different ways to account for a player using a pet or not.

You can want that all day but it doesn’t mean they will continue to cater to it.

Of course they won’t. They’ve already made their decision. I still have the right to disagree though. And what’s wrong with “essentially” designing the spec two ways? It’s not like there isn’t any other class with four specs.

Frankly they should just remove the visual Eagle effect. The idea of a visual “pet” effect when MM has been stripped of the real pet sounds stupid.

Just make MM a “mage” that does physical damage from range with bow/gun and be done with it.

Its an awful decision. MM is supposed to be the ranged sniper, no pets.

Cool.

If Blizzard ever explicitly told me I should play another spec if I want to do the required solo content for the game, though, I would uninstall and that’d be that.

RSV done, MM happening, BM is next….

2027 : Bm can only use wands and becomes an Evoker style short range healer to fit the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them’ fantasy.

I legit laughed at your BM description.

I guess you only read the part of my reply you wanted to disagree with since I just explained what is wrong with it.

I agree but this is at least a big step in the right direction.

Tell that to the last 20 years of archer with a pet existing. It’s called a “Hunter” and not a “Ranger”

I really disagree with the change, losing our pets is just wrong.
But adding a bird when they’re trying to make it petless is absurd. The people who are for the change, getting rid of pet altogether should be protesting adding a generic bird.
They really don’t want to be petless afterall.

To me, MM was always the epitome of the dwarf and bear in the vanilla cinematic. The dwarf is firing from a distance while the bear keeps the target busy.

I basically played my hunter a bunch this weekend to say goodbye. Blizzard class fantasy since Legion is awful.

I do as well, but what I want or don’t want doesn’t really matter.

It is almost like the Eagle is just there to rub salt in the wound. Every time you see the Eagle it’s a reminder - “Hey we took your pet away and gave you… this!”

I don’t play this hunter anymore, so it doesn’t matter to me. I’m still bummed about SV going melee, but… hey I’ve moved on. I think this change to MM is more significant and will rattle people more than the SV change did.

Guess we wait and see how it plays out.

Being able to tame pets is what makes hunter class feel special. Horrible change, DO NOT go live with it!

We need good customization options for it. Give us options that go with the hero talents like a Val’kyr to fit Dark Rangers and a spirit owl for Sentinels. Also racial themed customizations like a phoenix, plague bats, mecha birds, etc., etc.

Everyone having the same Eagle is too low effort. Especially when almost all the options people would want already exist.
