So play BM, the spec designed to showcase your pets that you apparently went out of your way to obtain.
Hunter survived a ranged spec being turned into one of the worst melee specs (when it was first added anyways). It can survive MM losing a pet that does nothing in favor of an Eagle that is integrated throughout our kit.

How dare players expect IMPROVEMENTS instead of taking great development effort to replace a square wheel with a triangular one.

MM only used pet for lust or solo content for a tank. You can swap to BM in a few seconds and no gear changes are needed. I think its a good design choice for MM, however MM is still trash because of having to cast aimed shot.

Oh, just those two extremely common scenarios? Is that all?

Yeah, that’s all. The lust is covered in the new changes, MM is trash for solo content anyway… in the time it takes an MM hunter to cast aimed shot I’ve already killed 3 mobs.
So the only thing they’re losing is a tank from what I see, which its easy enough to swap bm for solo.

Didn’t Rexxar have a bird or something?

They can just as easily give that to hunters who use Lone Wolf.
It does just fine. You must be doing it wrong.
If MM players wanted to play BM then they’d be playing BM already. It’s not simply losing a tank. It’s losing a fundamental part of the class. It’s also losing the actual Lone Wolf fantasy. The option to play without a pet is also being lost. A character fantasy that a lot of people enjoy. Now you’re locked into having some kind of pet no matter what. Except if you’re MM you don’t even get a choice in what it looks like. Nobody wins.

One vision of the spec replaced with another. Tbh, sounds bad if you love the current iteration of mm hunter. I think worth playing it to see how it feels. Granted, this is coming from someone who loves what they did with SV lol.
It’s definitely a different fantasy than the pure lone wolf or hunter with pet companion–seems like they’re aiming for the best of both worlds when it comes to gameplay though.
Main issue, imo: can’t pick the pet type…

I doubt Blizzard cares. They massacred survival from its class fantasy. Its not really a big deal. You can choose to play the class or the spec. Most the time its not a good idea to get attached to one thing because Blizz makes changes like this a lot. I didn’t like what they did to rogue combat so I played something else. Yeah it sucks, but they gonna do what they want and they are incredibly stubborn so kick and scream all ya want I’m just saying MM didn’t really lose much at all.
Even current MM is a farcry from what it used to be.

Nisha was his bird’s name! And if you play HotS he throws birds at people!

yup so dumb. removing pets from mm is 1 thing. but also removing barrage. a double stupid move.
core mm hunters that do everything in this game, md to pet and barrage is the staple, bread and butter. i dunno who is running the show at blizzard making these changes, but they are obviously clueless.

I will switch my hunter to BM, I am not married to MM. If they want to kill the class I am helpless, RIP MM

Massive L, Huge L from a design standpoint. First of all this big of a rework should not be done mid-expansion and for two taking away even the option of a pet is insanely bad and forcing everyone to have this weird eagle-pseudo pet is dumb.
But this is just another reason to not touch MM. It’ll go from “eh” spec to never touch it again.

It’s more like a rash. Nobody wanted it, yet it will show up periodically.

His bird is called Spirit. The throw bird ability is “Spirit, swoop!”

As MM I’m going to miss my bear friends but oh well.
Felt the same way about the Ele Shaman rework.
At least this one is with a new major patch so if you’re gonna swap or need to regear or whatever it’s when everyone else is doing it.
I hope you’re not as stupid as you sound. BM is NOTHING like MM. Many MM players use their pets to tank while they shoot from a distance. This is what a ranged class does. A MM focuses on shooting while the pet keeps the target at range. A MM does not spend their time directing their pet around like BM, and their DPS is not dependent on their pet.
Now, for me, my pet is mostly for RP. I am a Marksman. I have been a Marksman for more than 16 years. I will always be a Marksman. But I don’t want to have to switch specs just to take my pet out to play with it.
Also, your opinion would have more weight if you posted on a hunter.

I tamed ALL my pets back when they were relevant to MM. Back when we had to feed them to keep them with us. My very first pet was Mazzranache that I stumbled upon on as a wee lvl 10, back when hunters didn’t HAVE a pet until they reached that level and tamed one. Then I had to run back to the trainer to learn how to feed him before he got mad and left.
While I admit these days I only use my pets for RP most of the time, some Marks hunters still use them as intended for solo content. The pet tanks the mob and the hunter shoots from range. That’s what a ranged spec does.
BM is a spec I really don’t care for. Too much fussing around with the pets, not enough aiming and shooting. Why can’t Blizz just leave the option for MM to use a pet or not? How is that a problem for anyone?

It’s Blizzard, their class design has always been a hit or miss.
Would be funny 3-5 years from now Blizzard randomly adds LW back with some excuse attached. After all, Melee SV is a thing again.
Honestly I wanted to try MM out in 11.1 but I’m REALLY salty over the fact Chim Shot is gonna be removed.
