Mind controlled out of WSG

It’s not the MC mechanics I have a problem with, falling to your death from MC is doable in the open world. And thus fine inside of a BG. Forcing people to leave the game for 15+ minutes is not doable in the open world.

This was how it was in classic I remember doing this to people. #nochanges.

The difference is that forcing a player off the Lumber Mill cliff kills them in a PvP battleground. Killing in a battleground is an intended action. Forcing a player to leave the battleground gives them a deserter debuff and prevents them from ever respawning within that battleground. It also causes an occurrence that was explicitly called out as something to be prevented in Vanilla patch 1.9.3:

I would be shocked if Blizzard ignores this as intended gameplay.

Warts and all?

Seriously though… this was a problem back in Vanilla and they didn’t fix it. They are probably going to now because back then, only a few asshats did it but all it will take is one streamer to do it and every single priest in WSG will be trying to troll the entire team.

Your definition of an “exploit” is entirely subjective.

In all fairness, call it what you like… “Creative use of in-game mechanics” has resulted in bans before

Oh but the AB cliff jump is an effective “Insta-Kill” button that can be used at will anytime.

By your own definition it is an exploit as it allows any player to remove someone from the action temporary in the benefit of yourself.

Be careful with that “It’s an Exploit” wand you are waving around. We have already had enough abuse of it with the AV changes.

Yes, as we have see the “Creative use of in-game mechanics” excuse used to make game altering changes so efficiently with AV.

You’re not wrong. But again, there is a clear difference here between an exploit such as the death-grip glitch - which was an unintended, unforseeable consequence and promptly patched out - versus MC, which has foreseeable, known uses which Blizzard has allowed to remain in Classic.

There is counterplay through slowfalls that your non MC Allies can use on you, that you can use on yourself, exc.

Just as there are plenty of counterplays your non-MC allies can use when you are being MC’d to the exit gate.

Temporarily is the key. It doesn’t remove them from the current battleground permanently. It doesn’t lock them out of all battlegrounds for 15 minutes.

They never said any about unforeseeable. Again, this is what they said when they announced the hot fix:

I’m having a hard time understanding how an action that was explicitly prevented in patch 1.9.3 was an intended design choice when implementing MC.

Locking someone out of all BGs for 15 minutes is clearly damaging their gameplay. If Blizzard didn’t see it that way, they wouldn’t have messed with vote kicks in BGs.

It is actually called griefing and you can report people for it.

Simple easy fix to prevent this behaviour.

The player doing the mind controlling gets removed from the battle ground. If you cant force a flag drop by abusing/exploiting mind control - you shouldnt be allow to abuse/exploit a ‘something that shouldnt be happening’ on another player.

I might be wrong but has no one mentioned that this “NOT” only priest’s mind controlling people in to the portal and then canceling the mc when the player being mind controlled is in/next to the portal and getting instantly ported out. Just FYI most of the time it is an enemy player using a gnomish mind_control_cap that is an instant cast cannot be dispelled or intrupted, the person with the mind control cap then just walks in to the portal and waits for their mind controlled targets debuff to run out and then watchs them vanish in to the deserter debuff club. Lol, it’s horrible and bannable report a player for doing this every time. Also I do wish a fix to the portals was implemented e.g. Make the portal a have to click to exit or an option appear when entering it that says do you what to leave this battle ground “yes”… “no”. Easy fix???

Good luck trying to report them. The ticket system is a joke. It forces you to pick a category for your ticket, and then every link in those categories takes you to a forum page with zero helpful info. There is a report character button, but that takes you to a page that tells you to right click on their portrait and report them. Which is IMPOSSIBLE to do once you have been MC’d out of the instance.

Wait a sec… you’re saying “casting MC to enforce players out of an pvp instance is pvp tatic”? Really?

Reread my dated post, you don’t need to ask obvious questions.
