It’s literally impossible to argue about the stereotype of a made up fantasy class lol
But just to throw my 2 cents in, dks aren’t necromancers

Which is the biggest hurdle of there being a necromancer class.
A real necromancer has only one requirement.
Practicing necromancy.
Anything else is side fluff that has nothing to do with interacting with the dead.
Wearing a robe, using a staff, etc. Is irrelevant.
That’s what I’m saying Dks aren’t necromancers .
ACK! Humans! I am allergic!
WoW has had a fairly robust chat and voice program now for many years. It works really well although does not have proximity voice chat. People don’t USE it though. They used Vent, Skype, and now Discord. Even though Bnet chat has a lot of Discord-like features.
Would the investment in upgrading the voice chat system to in-game proximity chat be worth it? Would people use it? Would the abuse of it outweigh the potential good parts? Personally, I would have it turned off. I do not want people coming up to me IRL and talking to me most of the time and I certainly don’t want it in game. I don’t even like IRL voice messages! If someone needs me they can text at me - IRL and in-game. heh.
Why is there a higher value placed on being a necromancer…with things irrelevant to practicing necromancy?
Then aren’t rogues just warriors and shamans are mages?
Aight you are starting to catch on what I’m getting at xD.
Yes, I am starting to catch on that you feel wearing a robe is more important than necromancy, when it comes to being a necromancer.
Which is hilarious.
A shaman does not practice magic the same way a mage does.
A DK raises the dead the same way a stereotypical necromancer does
I have no idea.
I would.
I would keep it on because people are funny sometimes and this would be a real, genuine interaction.
I know people are different but this would make me engage more with the players around me for sure.
And a risen warrior of the lich king with power over undead doesn’t study necromancy the same way a necromancer does
How one studies the dead, I have never seen that as a requirement for being a necromancer
There is no requirement, it’s all subjective and made up
A matter of perspective
But in this case, its not.
Shaman, get their powers and cast things very differently from mages. Those are known rules.
The only rule for being a necromancer is practicing necromancy. Not wearing a robe.
Says who? You?
I dont know how to engage in a conversation where “practicing necromancy” is not seen as being a necromancer.
Because it feels like its just bad faith.
I have no idea how to engage in a conversation where someone thinks fantasy classes are a matter of fact, fact that is being based on one’s own opinion?
Because within fantasy realms there are still “rules”?
The only competition it had was FFXIV: Shadowbringers, and even that wasn’t because FFXIV became a sensation. FFXIV was competing because WoW’s population had dropped off hard enough for FFXIV to actually compare in terms of playerbase size and population retention.
Funnily enough, that situation has swapped- like or dislike some decisions Blizzard makes, but they started changing things and trying new things again, and FFXIV has done the opposite of innovate after Shadowbringers ended.
Where do the rules come from? They’re made up by the creator of the fantasy realm lol
Yes?
Have the creators defined necromancers as anything besides “practicing necromancy”?
