Microsoft VS Riot

Whoever can bring back the social aspect to MMOs will make the “wow killer”

It Would probably include a chat proximity function and smaller servers like in classic wow days so people could actually get to know the people on them.

but is it enough to be profitable?

12 million times $15. I would think so.

Also: Add the cost of the expansion times 12 million.

You are right on the money here that would be it but the problem is not that simple to fix.

Us older generation of people 30+ have moved on to greener pastures per say while the newer generation is taking over.

The solution would require to make the product to accommodate both generations of folks for it to have any social aspect alive again.

This is my take on this particular thing.

idk if that would convince Microsoft after buying that company but at lease they’re not doing as bad unlike ubisoft or BioWare

Ye nothing will be as bad as Ubisoft or bioware it’s not possible to screw up as they have.

I’m not sure how you would overcome the generational divide but I’d assume it would have something to do with the difficulty level of the game.

It seems like the younger folks would be happier on a “hard” server and older folks would probably prefer a casual server.

That’s about the only way you could divide it that wouldn’t cause problems.

You read my thoughts on this it’s exactly what I was thinking :face_with_monocle:.

It seems we think alike xD may the Khala be with us hehe.

Yes I prefer casual approach and younger generations prefer hardcore approach so make both types of content and ppl are happy.

Easier said then done though.

Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell were my favorite Ubisoft games.

Mass Effect and the Dragon Age’s before Veilgaurd were my Bioware faves.

Now…because they wanted to shoot themselves in the foot despite evidence on why they should not do it, these franchise games will belong into history to not continue their storyline.

I lean towards this with the addition of “Isn’t an outright exploitation of your pockets, IE: no loot boxes or gatcha mechanics.”

Though I’m not personally against vanity items being in the store, they just don’t fit the [WoW] MMO model well. You get the whole glitter unicorn fiasco.

We throw around the term casual so loosely when I’d argue casuals run this game and all they want is a moderately hard game (Not M+ 12 hard), the ability to grind out rewards, and something social. Think FF14 savages, FF14 dungeon gear, and FF14 relic weapons.

[Edit] I meant to say casuals are the life source. I’m not sure they run the game but I’d argue they’re the reason it stays alive.

FF14 kind of nails that whole aspect but lacks one critical feature: a game that feels good. Give FF14 our game’s responsiveness (And lack of really crappy dialogs) and it might just knock WoW out of the top.

I feel a little vindicated. When the first gameplay trailer dropped, I said it didn’t look good and it didn’t look like Dragon Age, and I had people on these boards trying to tell me otherwise.

Funny.

Riot is owned by tencent. There is no competition.

The ability to grind out long term goals casually is something I’d definitely like to do.

I have no problem waiting for rewards as long as I know I’ll eventually get them. :joy:

Something like the legendary MoP cloak quest comes to mind. You could farm the power sigils out in LFR.

They announced it like 10 years ago.
Most projects that run that long after announcement get scrubbed or are terrible.

… and the number three MMO which is Classic WoW.

Many people want BIS rewards from doing trivial content. And can’t stand others getting something better. That’s where a huge divide comes from.

But in the topic of MMOs returning. It won’t be until there is a new technological advance in gameplay. Merely copying current MMO gameplay at its base won’t do it. It needs something drastically new.

WoW has the option of being extremely social right now. But people actively evade what it takes to be social. Like gameplay, they want the being social to be trivial. Not put in a lot of effort themselves for the rewards.

Will there be a game that has low challenge, is a glorified chatroom, and it becomes trendy again? Unlikely.
