And yet, you are only looking at one part of the picture. Initial sales go to BfA vs. WotLK. Then add retention. BfA had a big drop off while WotLK kept its numbers upā¦overall, adding to its sales. WotLK was better because most people enjoyed the content and did not leave to wait for the next expansion.
Not just initial sales. Sales as a whole. Wotlk has lost total sales against 3 other expansions. That information is still very public in the investors information
And which ones are those and do you have a link? Am curious as I am not finding any conclusive sites that are reliable.
Wod, bfa and sl. Sold more unit copies. You can download each years investors meeting at investor.activision com. Did they hold a player retention and subscription comparable to woltk? God no but they sold more unit copies of the expansion
Delves is good, I wonder what new system they will bring, in the next expansion
I donāt think wow has any competition with anyone but hereās hoping .
And concerning riot MMO they went dead silent on it I believe itās gonna be scraped like project titan was for blizzard.
WoW will die when the Blizzard Microsoft team decides itās time for the game to end. No other MMO can kill WoW. SC3 RTS is unlikely to come anytime soon. SC team wants to have a non RTS SC come out which they have already tried 3x this time they will probably release it.
You mean like SC MMO or single player rpg kind?.
Just about every major gaming company has tried to take shots at WoW and failed to dethrone it. I doubt Riots new mmorpg if they go ahead with it will manage to either unless they just make a better game.
I still have the little booklets that came with the WarCraft 3 battlechest that was advertising StarCraft Ghost. One is a single piece of paper saying āComing Soon, StarCraft Ghostā and it shows a picture of a blonde ghost there. Lots of people say that Mission Packs is what that was supposed to be, but on another add of theirs it is announced that it was going to be a FPS game.
Oh StarCraft ghost that was supposed to be with Nova from SC she was supposed to be the new metal gear solid instead they made nova campaign in SC 2.
This is a bit off topic but I wonder what happens to Nova after the SC2 story ends?
Asking the question to myself xD.
Yea I always thought it was supposed to be Nova as well because the add shows a blonde ghost that looked like her and not like Kerrigan. Mission packs were super fun though. My friend told me it is Kerrigan on the cover for that add and some Google results say that as well but it looks like Nova.
The dranei uses protoss armor, and nexus princess looks like dark protoss.
I had some source, that after Microsoft bought activision/blizzard they havenāt become profitable and that could be bad news for blizzard.
Everyone and their mother can come up with āsome sourceā for their news.
But most of those āsourcesā are complete bunk, with no validity whatsoever.
In the case of Activision and Microsoft, the only source I can find claiming that Microsoft hasnāt grown as a result of the purchase is from a website called āThe Information,ā which is what other websites like Insider Gaming are citing. But that website is currently broken and you need a subscription to view the article, which immediately makes me think itās dubious.
To your blizzard had nothing new point. It kind of blows my mind that they havenāt announced another MMORPG.
I know people will say itās a dying genre I disagree it looks dying because thereās so many bad ones that flooded the market.
I still feel if someone made a quality one people would flock to it in droves.
But seriously they made billions with wow over 20 years heck in a book about them they admit it was their golden goose for the company for many years.
How do you not try another mmo?
In My personal opinion, I donāt know if MMORPG is really even a hot topic anymore. I feel like back when most of us started playing. It was important because the Internet was new and meeting people online was fun and exciting.
Now, I know personally I find less enjoyment playing multiplayer games simply because of the anonymity and the toxicity that comes with it. I know not every gamer online is toxic, but the ratio is pretty high. If MMOs stay at the top of the chart more than another 10 years I would be shocked.
Definitely been quantity over quality so far.
Not arguing on sales and if that was the only thing counting on popularity then it would win. However, the number of active players at the end of Wrath, into Cata, was over 12 million players. Active. When Blizzard did the Wrath Classic server it had more players on then any other classic server. Everyone buy the new expansion. Retention speaks volumes on how good and popular it is.
