Because there is a lot of misinformation being spread about the viability of meme specs and leading people to believe that, if they level elemental 1-60, they will be perfectly fine for raiding.
They wonât, and the people spreading this misinformation are setting up new players for disappointment.
No one is saying âdonât play meme specsâ, what we are saying is, âif you play a meme spec, expect to have trouble getting into raids as that specâ
Whereas there are people who claim, for example, balance druids are fine. When their OOM issues are brought up, they literally claim that any guild that isnât killing bosses in under 2 minutes (coincidentally about the time when moonkins go OOM) is a bad guild and players should look elsewhere.
The thing is that I love playing meme specs. Meme specs are fun. But they are terrible for raiding and at least I have no illusions about that.
Iâd rather take someone playing a sub optimal spec that improved the experience rather than someone playing an optimal spec who was also a total ledge.
Though itâs also fair game to let people know that others are not obligated to group up with you, and that many specs have a stigma against them due to the fact that they donât pull as much DPS.
People can say âI know, I donât expect to be widely acceptedâ, but I bet we hear a ton of complaining all the same post-launch about âIâm a Ret Paladin. Why do I keep getting laughed at when asking to join groups?â
The reality is that you wonât always know who is good or bad until after youâve invited them, but you will know what class and spec they are.
If someone messages you telling you theyâre looking to DPS as a meme spec, itâs far more likely theyâre the kind of player who doesnât take their own performance all that seriously, because anyone who does likely wouldnât be playing that spec in the first place.
You also have to consider that even the absolute best player in the world can only do so much with a meme spec, and even a mental invalid could do more on a proper spec.
I donât have a problem with these people as long as they are being realistic.
However, many of them come to forums to complain, or start guild drama or whatever because they will only play their pet spec. Playing what their class excels at is not good enough for them.
To be completely fair, I look on them about the same as I do a Warrior who is completely unwilling to tank for any reason. Picked the wrong class, my dude.
what would you do for meme spec healers? just have them all dps spec but healing with normal healing gear? like ele shamans, shadow priests, ect? There are obvious meme dps/tanks but not so much healer. Unless you just stack all druid healers.
