Yeah, I keep seeing suggestions for newly created additions or the Covenant races and such and the look on my face…
I don’t know why people want all these ultimately irrelevant rep-grind-of-the-month races. It legitimately baffles me. We have scores of existing options that have so much potential and much more history. Why ask for something that didn’t exist until a week ago and won’t be relevant narratively the moment the next patch drops?
Dragonmaw should be a thing and in my opinion they should be an AR unto themselves or part of a sub-race system.
Wildhammer are kinda stuck now but I would prefer them to get their own AR or be worked in as part of a sub-race system.
Its a shame that they’ve been ignored and relegated to cosplay.
Came up with some racials for em…
Wildhammer Dwarves
Faction: Alliance
Racial: Stormhammer - Hurl your Stormhammer at the enemy. It will bounce three times to any nearby enemies (Within 3m) and then return to you. stuns the first person it hits and deals depreciating damage to up to 3 targets. *Works on the back of Gryphons without dismounting you.
Racial: Gryphon training - Can fly with apprentice riding skill. Pathfinders still need to be achieved where applicable. Able to tame Feathermanes and tame them faster.
Racial: Resilience of the Hill Dwarves - Poisons have shorter durations and minor nature resistance.
Racial: A Good Strap - Skin more leather… to make armor. What were you thinking?
Classes: Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Shaman, Druid, Monk, Priest? and Death Knight.
Mount: Wildhammer Gryphon
With all this talk of dragons in the next expansion, it makes sense to me to bring back the Dragonmaw Clan to help us take on possible evil dragons. Especially if we fight something big like Chromatus, in which their help would be very useful.
And as usual, Wildhammer Dwarves deserve better than to just have Bronzebeards LARPing as them. I still hope to see them playable as a full race someday.
Dragonmaw Orcs and Wildhammer Dwarves deserve to have its own allied race.
Dragonmaw Orcs deserve to have its own allied too.
They are a part of the Horde since Cataclysm.
This clan’s knowledge of dragons and warfare is unique and it could be so useful for the Horde (what a shame we didn’t have them in BfA war).
There is a reputation for them in Cataclysm => " Dragonmaw Clan".
We have the “regular” Orcs and the Mag’har Orcs as playable races but still not the Dragonmaw Orcs (Yellow eyes and grey skin seem to be unique to this clan).
We could have that for them :
Class: Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Mage, Shaman, Warlock, Death Knight, Monk
Racial capital: Bloodgulch
Racial leader: Gorfax Angerfang
Racial mount: Dragon
Hunter pet: Highland Worg
Wildhammer Dwarf deserve to have its own allied race more than anything and not just a customization for Ironforge dwarves.
They have their own culture.
They are a important part of the Alliance. They are in the Alliance since the Second War (Alliance of Lordaeron) and they are still here today in the Alliance (after the fall of Lordaeron)
They took part to many big conflicts from the Alliance (the Second War + the Alliance Expedition in Draenor + the Third War + the third opening of Dark Portal + the Alliance on the alternate Draenor + the Alliance into Stormheim to fight the Forsaken+ the Fourth War)
The Wildhammer clan is in the Council of Three Hammers with the Dark Iron clan and the Bronzebeard clan.
There is a reputation for them in Cataclysm => “Wildhammer Clan”.
There are Draenei, humans and high elves from the Alliance in the Aerie Peak.
Falstad Wildhammer, main leader of Wildhammer clan, took part to the Fourth War with other Wildhammer Dwarves for the Alliance
Kurdran Wildhammer, secondary leader of Wildhammer clan, is one of the heroes of the Alliance Expedition to Draenor and he has his statue in Stormwind (Valley of Heroes).
They are one of the most important race in the Alliance to master shamanism with the Broken and the Draenei.
The Wildhammer gryphon riders are a part of the Alliance army.
Honestly, Wildhammer are not strangers to taking on dragons. It would make a lot of sense for them to get involved to help the Alliance again if we had to face more dragons.
At this time I think it would be a Proto-drake.
Old Gods can I rant about this for a second.
Those three clans are supposed to be in equal standing but two of them are races you can pick and one of them is minor, EXTREMELY MINOR, Customization.
Two of those clans have their own voices lines.
Two of those clans have their own mounts.
Two of those clans have their own racials.
Two of those clans have their own Heritage.
Two of those clans have their own Tabard. (Technically so do the Wildhammer since Cata but thats not the point damnit!)
Two of those clans have their own home city.
The Wildhammer are not being treated right. Blizzard needs to do better.
Dragonmaw Clan Racials
Racial: Dragons Roar - roar galvanizing yourself and removing all bleed, poison, magic, disease and curse effects and raising your haste by 4% for 10 seconds.
Racial: Dragonrider - flight is available at apprentice riding (pathfinder still needed where applicable), can tame droto drakes, while on the back of a dragon or proto drake mount you can command the beast to breath fire without dismounting you. 3min cool down. Firebreath is affected by dragon type changing the damage type, in a cone in front of you. Damage is based on your class’ main Stat.
Racial: My Straps Better Than Yours - your leather working recipes have a 50% chance to upgrade rarity upon completion if applicable.
Racial: tough hide - increase to stamina 5% and resistance to fire damage.
Classes: warrior, hunter, rogue, priest, shaman, warlock, monk, death knight.
Mount: Dragonmaw Proto Drake
Wildhammer as just customization have no story, no lore, no heritage, nothing to show their unique qualities compared to the Bronzebeard.
Just feels like Bronzebeard dwarves cosplaying.
Without proper racials, heritage, voice lines, tabard, and story to go with em they’re not really gonna ever feel good to me. Just sucks when Blizzard takes a race and culture thats been so important to WoW’s history and leaves them as little more than tattoos.
I hear what you’re saying, but if they’re going to intro new races, I want something fresh.
I’m all for providing one, RP, open-world racial that has some identity. DID getting the Mole Machine is a good example. But flooding the world with new racials - I just don’t see a good ROI there.
They could improve the tabards, give us “Clan Mounts” (change name depending on race) and maybe intro more Heritage armor that is collectable by all “dwarves” but for all races.
For sure, while I’m bent out of shape over it I recognize the issues with making more AR’s. For me its a good solution but that doesn’t mean its the only solution.
What you suggest here would definitely help even in my case.
Other races and classes will not be appealing to me until things are truly account wide to the extent that the concept of a ‘main’ is obsolete. I’m not working towards everything on one character just to have the bulk of it be erased when I try to play something else.
Not to mention their entire culture is much different than your typical Bronzebeard Dwarf. As I keep saying, they deserved to be their own race with their own identity, as opposed to Bronzebeards LARPing as them and not really having much of a presence or their culture shown as a result.
If the next expansion deals with dragons as rumored, I’ll be curious if we may see the Dragonmaw Orcs come to give a helping hand. I’m sure they’d be useful in some fashion.
I resubbed this morning mostly just to thank you guys for carrying the torch in my absence. This whole expansion has just been so far removed from the tone that drew me to the franchise in the first place… when I got a new credit card number, I let the sub lapse as it didn’t feel like the effort to update my payment information was worth it.
But… a little hype is growing for the next expansion. And if we do happen to get a dragon-centered expansion, getting our favourite dragonriders for the Horde would seem like a logical course of action. And if we get the Dragonmaw Orcs, of course we also need the Alliance’s answer with the Wildhammer (for real, though - not the Bronzebeard cosplay nonsense).
