Megathread: Ogres as Playable Allied race

Just throwing in my support for Ogres, I believe itā€™s honestly a huge shame and an even bigger missed opportunity from Blizzards side.

Iā€™ve been playing since Vanilla and Iā€™d say I cannot remember one single expansion Ogres were not asked for.

Just saying the day Ogres ever do come, I believe eventually they will this Shaman will be an Ogreā€¦ and plus Iā€™d have to level a Alt for heritage too.

So just throwing my support, letā€™s get the ball rolling!

Dagg is one of the greatest NPCs added to WoW.

One day the mighty Ogre Warrior some know only as ā€˜The Chunkyā€™ will march at last. Until then heā€™s just chilling out, enjoying a nice little vacation away from all the crazy of Azeroth. No demons or big scary monsters, just delicious food and brew by the beach. Somewhere.

Perhaps on an island.

Pleeease give us playable Ogres, Blizzard!

Really surprised they were not added already.

Supporting! Ogres are long overdue and Blizz can clearly manage to make them look appealing and work with different armor sets especially now.

Wait, how did you make an empty post?

Okay not every new race needs to be called ā€œalliedā€. Just give a new race :metal:t2:

When I first heard allied races were going to be a thing and needed reps to unlock them, one of the things I did was go back through the older reps in case they would be involved in unlocking other races. That never was the case, but hey, it got me to work with older reps for fun.

In terms of Ogres, there was only one Ogre specific rep that I could find: Ogriā€™la.

Itā€™s doubtful that this rep would have anything to do with a playable Ogre faction, seeing as these Ogres are kinda doing their own thing and are neutral, but for those that need something to do while waiting for Shadowlands, it doesnā€™t hurt to get this at exalted just in case it leads to anything.

Whatā€™s cool is that you can also do a couple dailies for this rep at the same time, which also gives Ogriā€™la rep:

I believe there are other dailies that go with this rep elsewhere, which sadly does not give Ogriā€™la rep.

In order to unlock the dailies, you have to go to this NPC, with the location on the Wowhead map in the link here:

This leads to the quest where you become King/Queen of the Ogres, which I became and showed off a few posts ago, and then leads to a questline where you unlock the daily quests.

At first, there are three dailies to do, with there eventually being a fourth daily quest that opens up at honored or so I think. You need a bunch of these to do the questline that unlocks the daily quests though:

I will say that one of the dailies involves you playing Simon, that memory matching game that you will have to do a few times during the main questline (along with intentionally failing one with the big crystal version to spawn a quest NPC you have to kill). The best advice I can give is to open notepad on your computer, get right in the middle below the crystal, and set the platforms to a + shape. Use notepad on the side of your screen, next to the WoW window, to type the direction you have to activate as it shows you. I usually do U for up, D for down, L for left, and R for right.

I got exalted on an alt I leveled a long time ago, but I figured it would be more fitting to get exalted on this character. I think I read somewhere that it would take roughly thirty-something days to get exalted with them, which sounds about right from memory.

If anyone wants to work on this rep, remember to look up any quests you have trouble with. Maybe as the Ogre King, I can get a whole bunch of Ogres to join the Horde. One can only hopeā€¦

A friend of mine brought Ogriā€™la up over the weekend. Seems he missed a spot where you could get rep from them, which made me laugh cause heā€™s often calling me noob for not knowing things. I remember enjoying doing those dailies and was really happy with the reward.

When Blizz announced Dark Iron would be an Allied Race part of me thought/hoped they would want us to get rep with the Thorium Brotherhood, since they were the only Dark Iron rep in game. My guess is if they choose to add another Allied Race the rep will be something new which I understand but also want to go :stuck_out_tongue: at Blizz. lol

So as most people likely know by now, Shadowlands will have a global release on the 26th for NA (27th for Europe). A global launch date and time is found here:

While Iā€™m honestly not expecting much in the way of Horde Ogre stuff in this expansion, if I do see anything of interest, I will be sure to report any findings here.

Assuming we do see anything, there are only two possibilities I can see.

On Azeroth, the only thing I can think of is if there are undead invasions on the different continents or if Orgrimmar is under siege by undead during Shadowlands. I thought the idea of the prepatch was to have different undead invasions in different areas, but it seems like itā€™s mostly just that zombie event within Orgrimmar/Stormwind along with beating up Nathanos. At best, weā€™d likely see the Stonemaul defending their territory, which may or may not include their previous home, against the undead. Maybe a Stonemaul grunt or two around Orgrimmar if it gets constantly besieged.

Within Shadowlands, the only thing I can think of is running into some of the dead Stonemaul from this quest in Dustwallow Marsh:

I wouldnā€™t really know what to expect from them. Maybe just as grunts in Horde outposts in Shadowlands with maybe a quest or two involving them. As I mentioned before, if I run into them and they ask if they got their home backā€¦all I can tell them is that I wish I had an answer for them. At the very least, Iā€™ll save them from the Maw if possible, assuming any ended up there.

I donā€™t really expect any Horde Ogres to come with us to the Shadowlands, especially since they missed out all of BfA and its huge faction war. Likely, the Stonemaul will stay in Dustwallow Swamp and defend their territory, the Dunemaul will be defending Megsā€™ property and goods, and the Gorian Ogres from Draenorā€¦might be getting into the real estate business or something for all I know.

With the world (of Warcraft!) threatened and in jeopardy once more, Iā€™d like to hope that the Horde Ogres would assist in some fashion, even if itā€™s just bashing undead mooks that are invading somewhere. Sadly, Iā€™d be surprised if they made any appearance of any sort during this expansion. Maybe if the expansion after Shadowlands occurs back on Azeroth, there might be a chance. Still, Iā€™ll always hope the Stonemaul Ogres at least will appear again sooner than later, preferably on that character creation screen.

Dream big, Ogre fans! :japanese_ogre:

I would definitely make one of each. One 1-headed for a warrior, to base it off the garrison bodyguard Tormmok, and one 2-headed probably as a shaman. Because that would be badass AF
