Since I played Warcraft 2 and 3 before, and then the original World of Warcraft beta I was hoping Ogre would be introduced. I remember people talking about having a two headed ogre as playable kind race of like Cho’Gall I thought that was a cool and funny idea so I am glad they ended up bringing that to Heroes of the Storm. Still in World of Warcraft I think it would still be fun to have Ogre. Now in the game they have all of these strange new races that have hardly any lore history compared to the Ogre. We have 3 elf races, 2 trolls, 2 orcs, 3 human, 2 tauren, 2 dwarf… time to add Ogres. There were so many moments when Ogres could have been added so kind of dissappointed about that. Ogre can be made the same size as Tauren and problem solved. I think they should be Warriors, Warlocs, Rogues, Mage, Priest, and Shaman. I’d like to see them connexted to the Rexxar storyline somehow though he does not have to be the leader. As for the problem with the women Ogre it’s not that hard to fix
Just have them send an emissary to the Ogre Amazon island (Yes, apparently that’s a thing in the lore.).
We’ve already seen a female ogre.
Glad hear you were able to get trust level 3 back. Its interesting seeing that transition of Kul’tiran to Ogre.
What I can find of Ogrezonia is from a Jewelcrafting daily quest in Stormwind and Orgimmar. Here’s the Wowhead quest info for Alliance and Horde.
Ogrezonians in the Mood (Alliance)
Ogrezonians in the Mood (Horde)
Since the quest text appears to be the same for both factions, I’ll copy and paste it here:
“I was supposed to receive a shipment of jasper from Azeroth Express, but I just heard their ship crashed into some tiny island called Ogrezonia. I worry about the crew, as the giant female ogres on the island are rumored to perform horrible rituals on men who happen upon their island. My work must go on, though, and we need those gems. I’ve heard great things about your skill as a jewelcrafter - could you deliver three jagged jaspers by the end of the day?”
Seems to be all I can find in-game regarding it. It may have just been created for humorous flavor text, so I’m unsure if Ogrezonia would ever be utilized at all in-game.
I also expect that if we get Ogres to be playable, female Ogres would just pop up out of nowhere and nothing really is said about where they have been. A few playable races have done this before, along with a few candidates for future allied races like the Gilblins, so I’d be surprised if Ogrezonia is referenced at all for female Ogres if they were ever put in the game.
I think if it’s there, Blizzard will use it. Maybe I’m wrong, but they’re running a little dry on content. So they’ll grab at anything.
But taurens.
I really think ogres should be alliance cause horde have gotten all the cool AR so far. I swear if we get something lame like wild hammer dwarves (no one plays dwarves) and horde gets a fun new model…
Strange enough overwhelming of the alliance ask for wildhammer, complaining that blizz never give to then what they want, i indeed imagine they complaining that they did get another dwarf.
I think however alliance would be way pissed to get an ogre race, even more after kul’tirans, they don’t match their theme, have no ties to alliance and so on.
one of the mysterious and possible things left behind in the game
My hope is that 9.0 bring up dragon isles, and Orezonian being a thing close to there,
Honestly i love dragons,and i think dragonmen fit way more the horde, but if they put dragonmen in the alliance so horde can get ogre in a classic giants x dragons crap there i would be immensely happy;
I personally would be very disappointed to see Ogres put on the Alliance, especially considering that some clans like the Stonemaul have a history with the Horde since Warcraft III.
I am curious about the possibility of seeing Ogres with Dragon Isles, seeing as the Stonemaul have huge beef with the Black Dragonflight causing them to lose their home in Dustwallow. I’m sure they would be in the mood to bash some dragons for some much needed revenge! …of course, they need to take back their home first. <- <
What would dragonmen look like? If they are blood elves that turn into or use dragon forms ehhh…
I suppose I never should have left the horde as I much prefer the comedic horror of the horde and beastly races but alas my fiancee wanted to play alliance when I came back for legion.
Now that alliance is so terribly underplayed as a faction I feel duty bound to represent them even though she hasn’t decided if she will play again.
Anyway cheers hope everyone’s happy with ogres and whatever the alliance gets in return.
Unless it’s the apexis ogres I doubt there will be an allied race. All but the ogres of apexis are brutes that require someone strong to rule them. And their leader will always be getting challenged by other ogres.
We literally have like 3 clans worth of Ogres in the Horde Already, at least one Mok’Nathal, some Ogryns, and Gronnlings.
Why would the Alliance get Ogres?
The easiest solution to multiple challenges to the Ogre faction leader is to just have them be strong enough to stay as leader of the faction and not really have it come up much in the storyline.
Taking the Stonemaul for example, if anything from the chieftain challenges that the Stonemaul have is shown in-game, they could have Tharg in Dustwallow Swamp where generic Ogres occasionally run up to him:
Generic Ogre: Me challenge you ta be da leader!
Tharg: Challenge accepted. (punches the Ogre and knocks them out instantly) Me win!
Other than that, I don’t really see the issue. It is true that there is suppose to be high turnover from the Stonemaul successor stone, which involves the Archaeology profession:
“Chieftains rule small bands of ogres with an iron fist, and are never short on challengers. The Stonemaul clan have notoriously high turnover rate in their leadership; judging from the layers of bloodstains this stone appears to have been instrumental in deposing multiple Stonemaul chieftans.”
It’s likely this was before Warcraft III, as Kor’gall had held the position of chieftain for awhile and Mok’Morokk held onto the title since Warcraft III until our player character defeated him and send him running.
It’s hinted in-game that Tharg would become the next leader, though since Blizzard hasn’t done anything with them since Cataclysm, and also MoP with that one emissary, we don’t really know what they’ve been up to let alone if Tharg did get put in as leader.
As for the apexis Ogres, which I believe are the Ogres of Ogri’la, they seem to be neutral and only are interested in helping with world-ending threats…or rather, a chance to randomly help out in a daily in Cataclysm. They haven’t appeared since then despite the world having been in trouble a few more times after Cataclysm. From what I’ve seen of them, it is my opinion that they don’t seem interested in the faction war at all.
My own personal preference is that any playable Horde Ogres should be brutish. It’s how I view them and how I’d play my Ogre character if I got to make him. It also makes Ogres more lovable, in my opinion.
I was thinking that if we happen to see the Stonemaul Ogres get back into the story, it would be amusing to see one of them grab an assassin sent after Thrall and then beating them on the floor similar to how Hulk bashes Loki on the floor in “The Avengers” movie. Then they could toss the assassin right at a group of them, knocking them over.
It’s amusing stuff like that I would love to see in cinematics and another reason why I love Ogres. I don’t expect them to be the star, but scenes like that would be amazing to see in a cinematic.
Anyway, it’s been awhile, so I wanted to show that I still support Ogres. College has been ergh and time-consuming, so haven’t been able to do as much posting as I would have liked. x- x
Still, I will always support playable Horde Ogres!
One of the racials an ogre should possess, is a shrinker of some sort.
For QoL reasons, like when you need to get into a building or doorway.
You could toggle it off when you leave the building to become massive again.
The fact that we went through Dustwallow Marsh WITH Rexxar and did not see a single Ogre irks me a bit.
I’m still waiting for this to be a playable race. The Stonemaul Clan is still in Feralas loyal to the horde, and the ogres in Dustwallow. Then the Mag’har brought Draenor ogres during their recruitment scenario. Where’s mah ogres at blizz?
This is where I stopped reading. Please learn the difference between allied races and core races.
I do however support Ogres. As a Horde core race, of course - they don’t make sense as an allied race.
