Regarding female Ogres, from a previous conversation in the thread, my opinions are that they shouldn’t be too overly “sexy” looking, but they don’t have to be so hideous that they fell down the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. I would guess something in between, with a savage look to them.

As for what we know they look like, to my knowledge there haven’t been any official artwork of female Ogres in any media. The only thing that comes to mind is one image of a very ugly looking hag of a female Ogre, which I don’t remember where it came from, and also theres apparently one drawn of the female Ogre character in the WoW Traveler book series:

I honestly am not sure if this would be official artwork, as if female Ogres did get designed, they likely would look a bit different than this one were Ogres to get playable.

I’ve heard this stated before in a few threads. Is there a source to this? If it is true, I find it a bit odd that that would be a reason for just throwing them out as a race. Several NPC races that did not have females did end up having decently designed females, such as Goblins. On that top, I think a lot of the original races in Vanilla WoW didn’t have a female design in Warcraft 3, and had to be designed and created from scratch.

Two races that do come to mind are the Mithra and Galka, who only had one sex option, in Final Fantasy XI. I’d honestly find it a bit weird to see WoW do that, and there may be people who would want a female Ogre for one reason or another as their character. My opinion is that female Ogres should be part of the playable Ogre package.

It is possible to just forego female Ogres, but my opinion is that it would be a lazy thing to do with Ogres in particular. Then again, I’m personally wanting my Ogre to be male, so it wouldn’t really affect me too much.

Some of the Gorian Ogres did come with the Mag’har to our Azeroth. What they’re presently doing, however, is unknown. If we ever went to AU Draenor again, for whatever reason, I could see some of remaining Ogres trying to fight off Yrel and her army wanting to ally with us for survival. Then again, I’m more into the idea of the Stonemaul Clan being the playable Ogre faction, but whatever gets me playable Ogres, I’d be happy with.

Ogres were not planned to be a playable race in classic World of Warcraft because the developers couldn’t figure out how to make female ogres an attractive option for players. Johnathan Staats has stated “We [
] wanted our female players to play, like, the character that they wanted to play, and we just didn’t know how” and has mentioned that “weird things” arise when trying to make male and female options for every race, citing the example of female tauren not having udders.[98]

Chris Metzen has stated in an interview that he would like ogres to be playable one day along with naga and goblins (the latter of which became a playable race in Cataclysm).[99] During an interview in 2012 the developers stated that “We considered them for Cataclysm instead of goblins. Figuring out the females and the two-headed mages would be (fun!) challenges. Maybe someday.”

I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

First i think Ogres would make an AWESOME AR for the Horde and i think it has been a long time in coming and it would be great to see it happen.

Now the reason i think you are going to get what you want is i have thought from the beginning that the whole reason the Alliance got fat people to play was so they could reuse the asset for the Horde to make Ogres playable. So yea i don’t think you have anything to worry about and i hope that Blizzard does this, to be honest i think they should have done this first rather then give the Alliance the abomination that almost no one plays known as fat people.

Good luck with getting the AR you want, i hope it happens and i think it would be good for the game.

The part involving the female Ogres is a neat idea, and some of it reminded me of Ogrezonia, which is an island that consists entirely of giant female Ogres. I do think that realistically, female Ogres would just be created and placed in the society of whatever Ogre clan gets to be playable without any word on why there weren’t any beforehand, much like with some previous NPC races that became playable.

I honestly really don’t know what they would do when designing female Ogres. As long as I get to make my big, dumb, and strong male Ogre character, I’m more or less content. ^^;

Well, for launch of vanilla WoW, I might be able to understand needing more time to design such a thing. The problem is that, unless you make female Ogres really attractive, chances are that female Ogres will likely not be played that much, and that goes for a lot of female races in general. Sometimes, though, that isn’t needed depending on the game and lore behind said races, even if people wouldn’t play them. The option to is there for those that want that type of character.

I also am not really sure how to measure female players “playing the character they want to play” as well, nor do I quite understand what that means both in general and for Ogres specifically. I’ve played Everquest 1 for many years and knew female players that had a fun time playing female Trolls and Ogres in that game. The female models for those races weren’t that good looking, to put it mildly. :V

taking account Karrga its just old regular ogre woman, we can think of the other one as a better option for a playable female ogre

seeing how they are close related to orcs, its normal to believe they could could look similar and have some sort of sexual dimorphism just like trolls and draeneis.

and lets be real here, no one would want to play then if they became so ugly for no reason, they can be acceptable like other female monsters in the game.

pretty much how i feel about High Elves.

I mean at this point i feel like after introducing 2 “races” that amount to a couple of dozen to a few dozen people at most
COMBINED and having them be nothing more then pretty artwork with absolutely no story, no lore, have done nothing since inception and are basically pretty place holders, it just feels like Blizzard is trolling the Alliance. There are 100’s of High Elf NPC’s in the actual game, it was an OBVIOUS choice for an AR and an easy win for Blizzard but for whatever reason we got Void Elves over High Elves, lol and they wonder what is wrong with the game and why people are leaving when they can’t make basic easy wins for even themselves. Fan service is a thing and sometimes you should make it happen.

Not interested in stealing anything, just want to play what the Alliance already has. I already have several Blood Elves
but they aren’t the good guys and i prefer the good guys, not the Orc Huggers.

Yea i guess they do tend to backtrack alot after following the warchiefs and leaders over the cliff (forcibly stealing the light and holding a naaru hostage, taking part in the creation of the manabomb that destroyed Theramore, traipsing through Darkshore and watching as Teldrassil burned etc. etc. etc.). Doesn’t wash away what they have done, just means they have buyers remorse.

Good to see you recognize Orcs as evil though, that is a step in the right direction.

I know you’re the kind that loves to act as if High elves are saints, but yes, they did abandoned their people, and they did even dumber things to sate their thirst for magic, but you go on acting as if they’re perfect.

And you brought them in, this is not about them.

I genuinely hate pro high elf people man. Why don’t I go make the high elf mega thread (if it ever unlocks) into the Ogre thread.

Go for it dude, Ogres should be a thing, they should have been the first AR imo. They fit the story, they fit the faction and make absolutely perfect sense in every way to be Horde. Not really sure why Blizzard has sat on them other then the model thing i mentioned above but i think thats why they built the KT model in the first place, so Ogres can be a thing in the game.
