Megathread: Dracthyr Permanent Visage Form for Evokers

I literally said in my post that you turn into dracthyr for empowers/deep breath. Only change would be going back into visage after the spell ended.

Simple; You make the dragon form OPTIONAL, which in turn makes the dragon abilities that require dragon form OPTIONAL. Then the slippery slope begins.

Eventually the dragon abilities that once required dragon form will be removed completely, and we have essentially a mage clone, and the uniqueness of the Evoker class is stripped away completely. It is entirely possible that over time the class gets opened up to new races and the dragon isles backstory of the class is removed completely. Then you no longer have a class based on the aspects, you simply have another mage with a few more tricks under their sleeves.

Simple fix , turn into dracthyr automatically when casting empowers, soar, deep breath etc. just like it does now, except turn back into visage automatically when done casting instead of when you leave combat

That’s incredibly taxing on the game. I’m also not seeing the point of constantly switching forms every second. It’s pointless and stupid and frankly rather schizophrenic.

Also you’re still not going to satisfy the people who want permanent visage forms.

Yeah it is not perfect solution but it would certainly be a compromise and would definitely make a lot of players happy without ruining the lore. IF the dragon form had actual transmog OR decent armor options from the barbershop I would be happy to stay in dragon form at all times. We only get to use shoulders and belt from our tier sets and they do not match the armor sets in the barber shop at all.

There’s so many calculations going on with all the different interactions between spells and talents and buffs and everything else, there’s no way turning back into visage form would be so taxing to the game it would make any difference. Thats a crazy take.

I disagree that it would make anyone happy. Current Evoker players are fine with being in Dracthyr form in combat and switching back to visage when combat is over. This “compromise” wouldn’t matter to them. Again you’re in a thread where the desire is to make visage form permanent, which means you don’t turn into a dragon at all while playing an Evoker. Even if your solution was viable (I don’t think it is), we’d still have this asinine argument popping up on the forums.

A better solution is to provide more Dracthyr forms and barbershop armor options for the Dracthyr. However, that isn’t what is being discussed. What’s being discussed here is players wanting to have the ability to play an Evoker WITHOUT the dragon form period.

As I pointed out earlier, that leads to the ruination of the Evoker class.

I am a current evoker player, don’t like the dragon because of the transmog limitations, would be happy with the change I suggested. I have seen others in this very thread say the same. I have also seen people in other threads and on reddit say they would be happy to be a dragon for the required spells and pop back into visage. It wouldn’t break anything lore wise and would a great change for a lot of players. It would be way easier to implement than additional armor or permanent visage. No additional art assets or animations.

But you’re not the OP.

I am not sure what that has to do with anything. You said “Current Evoker players are fine with being in Dracthyr form in combat”. I am now realizing you’re not a serious person and are just arguing for the sake of arguing. Have a good one.

Yes, and your “compromise” is STILL Dracthyr form in combat. So yes, as an Evoker player, you’re fine with Dracthyr form in combat.

What I’m trying to get you to understand is that the people who started this thread we’re posting in doesn’t want your compromise, they want something else entirely.

If you don’t mind me asking Trust how so?

I am not the people that started this thread. I am offering a compromise that doesn’t ruin the lore and would make a lot of players happier. It is not an all or nothing sort of thing. That’s what I am trying to get you to understand. There is a lot of evoker spells that would look silly in visage form, totally agree. That doesn’t mean we can’t have a half step that would be easy for Blizzard to implement.

I’m sure some people want to play as Goku or Superman, therefore, Blizzard should find a way to make that happen.

Instead of telling people maybe, WOW isn’t the place for that.

Sure, copyright could be a thing, but what about an angel from Diablo or Kerrigan?

Stuff can theoretically happen (that people want.) Doesn’t mean it should.

We have a half step currently; The ability to automatically shift into visage form when combat ends. That isn’t enough for these people, and your compromise won’t be enough either. They don’t want to be in dragon form at any point while playing an Evoker.

SO because it won’t be enough for some people we should make zero changes, got it.

You know there is a huge difference between casting spells in visage form and playing as Goku.

Some people want it, therefore, the game should have it, because it makes some people happy.

No downsides!

What would be the downside to returning to visage form after casting fire breath?

Strips uniqueness away from the class. The reason people want it, is because they despise being dracthyr.

Visage is a mistake.

And visage itself doesn’t make sense because you can’t shift into every race.

Flap your wings, you’re a dragon-ish thing not human or blood elf.
